Public Comment to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Subject: EMF Sensitivity, Mold Exposure, Genetic Testing, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) Submitted by: Shana Placenti New Hampshire, United States To the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, My name is Shana Placenti, and I am sharing my personal experiences with electromagnetic field (EMF) sensitivity, mold exposure, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). I have been battling CIRS since 2018, following prolonged exposure to a water-damaged, mold-contaminated home. Over the past eight years, I have experienced severe neurological, cognitive, and physical symptoms that have significantly affected my health and quality of life. Approximately five years ago, I underwent extensive genetic testing involving roughly 200,000 genetic markers. According to the interpretation provided with my results, I was identified as having what the report described as "double EMF sensitivity." When I am around what I believe to be sources of electromagnetic fields, I experience intense buzzing and vibrating sensations throughout my body. At times, it feels as though my entire nervous system is buzzing. These sensations can become extremely uncomfortable and overwhelming, particularly when I am already experiencing neurological symptoms. Following my mold exposure, I experienced severe dizziness, balance disturbances, cognitive difficulties, impaired temperature regulation, and changes in bladder function. At one point, my neurological symptoms were so debilitating that I struggled to walk and maintain my balance. I have also experienced multiple concussions, further complicating my neurological health. I am concerned about whether individuals with chronic inflammatory illnesses following mold exposure may experience heightened sensitivity to other environmental factors, including electromagnetic fields. I am also concerned about the potential relationship between electromagnetic fields and mold-related toxicity. I encourage HHS to investigate whether EMF exposure can influence fungal growth, mycotoxin production, or the biological effects of mold exposure, particularly among individuals living with chronic inflammatory and neurological conditions. I respectfully encourage HHS to investigate possible relationships between EMF exposure, mold-related illness, neurological conditions, and genetic susceptibility. I would particularly welcome research examining whether certain genetic variations are associated with reported EMF sensitivity and whether these associations can be scientifically validated. I also encourage research into the combined effects of environmental exposures on individuals living with complex chronic illnesses. In addition to my personal experiences, I am the founder and administrator of MOLD/CIRS/LYME/TOXINS Healing and Recovery Group, an international Facebook community with more than 7,200 members representing over 50 countries. Through this community, I raise awareness, share educational resources, and provide support for individuals navigating mold exposure, CIRS, Lyme disease, EMF sensitivity, and other environmental health concerns. I have connected with individuals who report symptoms they associate with EMF exposure. These experiences have reinforced my belief that patients deserve to be heard and that their experiences should help inform future research priorities. My purpose in submitting this comment is to share my lived experience and advocate for greater awareness, independent research, and improved understanding of reported environmental sensitivities. I recognize that my genetic report does not independently establish a medically validated diagnosis of EMF sensitivity. However, I believe my experiences raise important questions worthy of further scientific investigation. Thank you for providing Americans with an opportunity to share their experiences. I sincerely hope continued research will improve our understanding of reported EMF sensitivity, potential interactions with mold exposure, and the challenges faced by individuals living with chronic inflammatory and neurological conditions. Respectfully, Shana Placenti New Hampshire, United States Environmental Health Advocate

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a Parent and wife. Our family and kids are very sensitive to these types of addictions. Our sleep has been disrupted. My kids wake 3-5 times a night. They walk around like zombies some days because of the lack of sleep. My husband and I are restless at night because of the constant buzzing. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.

It’s time to do the right thing. I wouldn’t want to face God one day knowing I have hurt many of my brothers and sisters because I did nothing. That guilt will be on you. Over the past several decades, wireless technology and infrastructure have exploded, transforming the environment in which we live, work, learn, and raise our children. Yet the federal guidelines used to determine the safety limits for exposure to wireless radiation are decades old and have not kept pace with the rapid expansion of wireless technology or the growing body of scientific research raising concerns about its effects on human health and the environment. Our children deserve better. They deserve to grow up in an environment where their health and safety are prioritized and where technology is supported by meaningful, up-to-date science—not assumptions based on outdated guidelines. Please act. This needs to be remedied. Regards, Sheila Salce May God be with you +++

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public, wellness consultant and grandmother. It is imperative HHS address the issue of the harms caused by incessant EMF exposure. I had the opportunity to live in a low EMF building an my health and mental emotional well being improved dramatically and also met many individuals who had been damaged by EMF exposure who had heart issues and culd no longer tolerate any exposure without experiencing extreme debilitating symptoms, like tremors, migraines, heart palpitations, dizziness, flu symptoms and more. I fear for the children with phones and ipads and constant exposure at home via smart meters and other smart devices, and at school. Their brains are more vulnerable than adults. The power output on routers can be dramatically reduced without compromising connectivity. We need to switch to fiber optics. We are killing the bees and wildlife with these frequencies. We are destroying our planet for convenience. Please take corrective measre and educate the public in the meantime about protective measures. Tell the FCC to change the allowed frequencies and testing to reflect the new levels of radiation being used. The courts ordered them to di so and they simply disobeyed. Enforcment please. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public. I noticed very erratic sleep patterns in me and some of my family members since we had more 5G towers started popping up in our neighborhood. Sometimes I don't sleep all night. Often sleep comes short and disrupts my work, family life and health. When we are in an area without cell towers at all and no mobile connection my sleep went back to normal. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am a concerned member of the public. I have witnessed the effects of harmful radiation in my community. I have a dear friend who lived near 2 cell towers. One was within 1/4 mile of her home. She developed an aggressive cancer and was dead within months. Next her husband suffered the same fate. Neither had received the Covid jab. I believe there was a Supreme Court ruling within the last 6 years about the dangers of these things. It was made without fanfare, but you might want to look into it. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a grandparent and concerned member of the public When I am exposed to wireless radiation from wireless towers and high power lines even for brief periods of time, I experience sever headaches and an overwhelming feeling of pressure on my body. This effect has increased over time as more and more. 5G towers have been built and activated in and around areas where I have lived. Relocation to areas away from towers and high power lines has made a huge difference in the quality of my life. I believe HHS should address this issue on behalf of all of us who have and will continue to have physical pain and health issues due to the continuous exposure to the wireless radiation that needs to be mitigated. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.
