To the respectful and understanding reader, First of all, please don’t judge my English, as this is my secondary language. When I was young, my father working in the broadcasting industry, gave our family the love of technology. He believed, like everyone was told, that nnEMF were safe. Having seen a housing opportunity, our whole family moved to a house near huge electric pylons. I lived there for about 10 years. However, I started having health problems on the 5th years. Unfortunately, my father passed away on the 13th year and my mother a bit later, after moving away from this house. A few years later, I started having a permanent headache that wouldn’t go away. I would go to sleep with a headache, then wake up with a headache. I went for a CT Scan and they told me everything was "fine". But it wasn’t fine. Fortunately, I started to have some clues: - My permanent headache went away only when going in the forest, and came back gradually while reentering the city. It occured a few time, but couldn’t understand the link between my headache and the forest. - A long lasting power outage of 5 days, which affected the whole block: no headaches during that time. Headaches came back as soon as the power went back on. This is the moment I understood my headache was linked to electricity, somehow. I wasn’t sure, though, having been told again and again that non-ionizing EMFs were totally harmless. Anyhow, having a better idea of the problem, I tried to get help from professionnals. I thought they would know better than me. After getting next to no help from my doctor and about 7-8 health specialists, that is when I tried to find answers by myself. This led me to a long and enduring path of discovery toward the truth, both for personal and professional reasons. Being a product designer, I use a scientific, neutral and intuitive approach on almost all subjects. So, I did what I normally do when doing research: checking both sides of the argument and trying to spot inconsistencies and biases. I also learned in my career that if you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it. So I started buying various and increasingly expensive EMF meters, covering different frequencies. This led me to understand that there were wiring errors in my house. I also discovered how "noisy" are WiFi and Bluetooth devices. I then tried to turn those antennas off. My headaches went away almost immediately after. Fortunately, I was making progress. Since then the beginning of my then permanent headache, I did more than 3000 hours research of the subject of EMF of many ranges and sources in order to understand the subject thoughly. From my understanding so far, the problem isn’t necessarily nnEMF themselves, but their overabundance. We call that "electrosmog". Don’t get me wrong: I LOVE technology and wouldn’t want to quit my day to day job. It has just became very hard to practice under those conditions. So, my long term goal is to get to know and understand the subject as much as possible in order to create safer products that are respectful of biology, including humans, animals and plants, as I know now that those are affected too. Most of us just aren’t aware. In one line: all lifeforms runs on electricity. Electricity is data. Any change of frequency, energy and vibration is affecting cell at microscopic levels. Under weak non-ionizing nnEMF (WiFi, BT, 60Hz powerline, among others), it first affect blood cells (rouleau formation) after just 10 minutes of exposure but resolves by itself when it stops or if the subject is moving enough to activate blood circulation. However, if someone stand still while using those devices and that it happens all days over a year, bigger problems start appearing. That’s why most lab tests are failing to find evidence: their tests aren’t lasting nearly long enough to find those. Another problem: all cells phones are tested for SAR. Their levels are tested against the FCC rules and they pass it before the product gets released to the public. This is fine by itself. However, when you go inside a cramped bus or subway, those numbers are suddenly going though the roof. Nobody is checking for exposure in those areas. Before concluding, I also met many people having the same problem as me, which was a relief. I must admit though that it wasn’t all good. Many people, including some close friends, didn’t want to believe my story. I had to insist to the point of this health problem nearly breaking our friendship. Thanksfully, I had more listening ears around me than judging ones. Many people are downright hostile toward this unknown problem, as you might have noticed. From what I’ve found so far, what we were told since the 60’ hasn’t evolved much in the public mindset. It even developed as a stigma for many people which will defend heavily wrong theories and assumptions about scientific conclusions driven by the money of the telecom industry. Thanks for caring.

The commenter requests greater separation of power lines from homes and investigation of cumulative expos…

Please investigate proximity to power lines. Regulatory guidelines say 200 feet from living dwellings is considered “safe”. It’s not. EMF and radiation emissions from lines need to be much farther away. Compounded exposure from other devices in addition to these are dangerous and impact human health and interfere with natural biorhythmic well being. Impact to bodily processes can cause everything from cancer to sleeplessness, headaches, tinnitus, nausea, inability to concentrate and many other diseases and symptoms. Children, immunocompromised people, and the elderly are likely even more detrimentally affected. Thank you for investigating and please take action on these measures.

I have had and continue to have health effects from EMF exposure. I have been diagnosed as electrically hypersensitive and receive a reasonable accommodation to perform my work in a way that limits my exposure and symptoms. The symptoms started in 2015 and it took seven years of worsening symptoms before I discovered the cause. I was experiencing severe sleep disturbance and fatigue, often sleeping only 3 hours at a time and sometimes only 3 hours all night. Additionally there was digestive disturbance, ear ringing, light sensitivity, increased heart rate, confusion and difficulty concentrating. The replacement of my electric meter, which was a smart meter, with a regular meter resulted in a dramatic but short-lived improvement, followed by a decline. This was my first clear indication that the EMF was related to my symptoms. Since then, many additional measures were necessary to achieve the improved health I now have. Some of the types of exposure that affect me adversely are smart meters, Bluetooth, Wifi, and electromagnetic interference on house wiring. There is a multitude of research showing harm from various types of EMF, and many books citing this research which are easy to find. Consumers should have the right to a regular electric meter upon request at no additional cost. Consumers should receive a warning on the effects of powerful RF emitting devices such as Wifi routers, cell phones, computers, Ring cameras, and all other smart devices. They should be educated on methods to limit their exposure. If they aren't informed, there will be increasing numbers of people that are sensitized due to high exposure.

Study shows an association between occupational exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields and cardiovascular outcomes reported in seven of the 14 studies included in this review: Occupational exposure to extremely low-frequency fields and cardiovascular consequences: a systematic review Raeisi E, Maghare Dehkordi S, Yazdanirad S, Mohammadian-Hafshejani A. Occupational exposure to extremely low-frequency fields and cardiovascular consequences: a systematic review. Public Health Rev. 2026 Sep 25;47:1609952. doi: 10.3389/phrs.2026.1609952. Abstract Objective: Exposure to extremely low-frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields can have harmful effects on human health. The present systematic review study aimed to investigate the relationship between occupational exposure to ELF and cardiovascular outcomes. Methods: Searches were conducted in six electronic bibliographic databases: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, MEDLINE, and Google Scholar. This search included records up to August 19, 2026. The search strategy used two sets of keywords. Following the selection of proper studies, relevant data were extracted by the reviewers. To assess the risk of bias in the included studies, the Joanna Briggs Institute checklist was used. Results: Seven of fourteen studies (50 percent) showed that there is an association between ELF field exposure and cardiovascular outcomes. However, the available evidence is insufficient to establish causality. Some of the outcomes reported in the studies included acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, hematological parameters, coronary heart disease, and hypertension. Conclusion: Exposure to ELF fields may be associated with some cardiovascular outcomes. However, the confirmation of this relationship remains ambiguous, and it requires further investigations in future research. Excerpt Extremely low-frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields are a type of electromagnetic field with frequencies from 1 to 300 Hz [1]. Exposure to these waves is common in occupational environments because it can occur during production, transfer, distribution, and use of electricity [2]. Some effects due to exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields include cerebral cancer, bladder cancer, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral and mental problems, sleep and wake rhythm disorder, and changes in perception and memory [3]. Compared with these outcomes, the possible cardiovascular effects of ELF exposure have received less attention and remain less clearly understood [4]. Conclusions An association between occupational exposure to ELF electromagnetic fields and cardiovascular outcomes was reported in seven of the 14 studies included in this review. However, the findings were not consistent across the studies, and the current evidence is not sufficient to confirm a causal relationship. The differences in the results of the studies could be because of differences in exposure frequency, exposure duration, and exposure level to the ELF field. Some studies reported associations with acute myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, blood pressure, and other cardiovascular-related changes, whereas others found no significant effects. Therefore, although a possible relationship between occupational ELF exposure and cardiovascular health cannot be ruled out, the strength and clinical importance of this association remain uncertain. The findings of this research may be useful to plan strategies to prevent cardiovascular diseases in different settings. However, more studies are needed to investigate the effect of the ELF electromagnetic field with the mentioned characteristics in various environments to confirm these results. Moreover, some confounding factors, such as personal, occupational risk, and psychosocial factors, may influence this association. The roles of these factors must be considered in future studies. Also, differences in these effects between various people with different factors should be examined in future research. The commenter reports sensitivity and neurological symptoms around wireless and electrical sources, impro…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am writing as an individual with first-hand experience (Q2). I am from Israel. My field is computers and the internet, which makes what follows especially hard. How it started (Q3a-d) It began in 2016, or at least that is when I became fully aware of it. My wife and I came back from a vacation in an isolated place abroad and felt really unwell in our own home. I already had an RF meter, but it wasn't fast enough to show what was really happening in the house. After buying a better one, we found a cellular antenna in direct line of sight of our home, and many sources coming from our neighbors. Even before I knew there was a source in a room, I felt pain in my body, and where the pain was told me where the source was. My symptoms were: - Headaches of a very specific kind, like the feeling after being hit on the head. I get the same headaches from exposure to chemicals. - Exhaustion. - Body aches, like the flu. - Confusion, forgetfulness and difficulty finding words. - Difficulty concentrating and doing creative work. - Pain in my fingers, from wireless radiation and also from magnetic and electrical fields. - Sleep problems. The sources involved were Wi-Fi, mobile phones, cellular antennas, transmitting devices at home, and electrical and magnetic fields, including grounding problems. My wife is also sensitive, less than I am, but she suffers the consequences of commuting and working in places with Wi-Fi and antennas. Medical evaluation (Q3e) I took part in a study by a physician who is herself sensitive to radiation. After she received threats, she asked participants not to use the summary she had written, so I have no medical document to attach. What I did, and what changed (Q3f) - I switched off all transmitting devices and the Wi-Fi at home. - After four years of searching, we moved to an apartment with much lower levels. Even so, it took weeks of thorough shielding and fixing grounding and other electrical problems that were causing pain. - I stopped using public transportation. - I moved from the office to working from home and reduced my salaried work. I now teach mostly over Zoom. - I improved my diet, reduced alcohol and took vitamins to help cope with the effects. - I keep track of where antennas are and try to avoid exposure, including by not leaving home. After the move and the shielding, my cognitive abilities and creativity improved greatly. The finger pain is mostly gone and only reappears after prolonged exposures and mental stress. I have far fewer headaches, though chemical exposure still triggers them. I can now make short trips to places with Wi-Fi, and even teach a class 2 hours a week, but I need time at home to recover afterward. What I can no longer do I stopped going to concerts, movies and social outings. I can't travel abroad or take a vacation without first checking that there is no Wi-Fi or antenna where we will sleep, for fear I won't sleep at all. We can't simply move anywhere: homes with few neighbors and low exposure are very hard to find. I can't work in an office, because Wi-Fi and mobile phones are everywhere. I can't attend courses in person. Buses, taxis, trains and planes are Faraday cages full of Wi-Fi and phones, so I can't use them. I can't attend crowded events such as seminars or parent-teacher meetings, or spend time in places with strong radiation from nearby antennas or powerful Wi-Fi, which is common in schools. The cost Socially: my chances to meet people and form new connections are very limited. People treat this condition dismissively, as if we were imagining it, even though some of them tell me about relatives with similar problems. Relying on social media instead created problems of its own. Mentally: living in isolation most of the time, with fewer ways to earn a living, causes anxiety and other difficulties and has hurt my self-image. Education: my learning options are limited to Zoom. Financially: I can't work as an employee in an office in my own field. We live relatively frugally and receive a scholarship for our son's studies. Why this matters beyond me (Q9, Q11, Q15) I believe the lack of awareness harms everyone: - Unnecessary wireless equipment is installed in schools without understanding its possible health effects on children and on cognitive performance. - Antennas are installed close to homes and schools. - Wireless components that can't be turned off are added to appliances such as air conditioners, water heaters, robot vacuums and speakers. - People use phones everywhere, including enclosed spaces, at all hours. That leaves no break from exposure, even at night while sleeping.

We need to know all the effects of the high voltage transmission lines. The agents filing for the lines will not tell us the truth. I feel they only tell us what they want us to hear. I live within 1/2 mile of one the proposed routes. I want to know how they will effect me.

The commenter associates family symptoms and a skin-cancer diagnosis with old wiring and nearby power lin…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a patient and parent. My family and I moved into an old home with old wiring in close proximity to powerlines two years ago. Upon moving in we immediately began experiencing symptoms like extreme fatigue, trouble sleeping, joint pain, brain fog, iron regulation and hormonal issues. I also developed skin cancer one year in to living there. After doing extensive research and testing, we realize that we had high levels of EMFs in our house due to the old wiring and proximity to the powerlines. It has been devastating on our health and we eventually had to move. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of EMFs, RFs and wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. More research needs to be done in this area. It’s very difficult finding experts and practitioners who know how to help people experiencing symptoms from EMFs, RFs and wireless radiation. It’s frustrating and we are still looking for answers about how to heal from this. There is no doubt these frequencies are causing harm to our biology, and most people are completely unaware of it. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding EMFs, RFs and wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.
