Requests independent review and stronger exposure protections, citing studies and a daughter selling her …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment as a consumer concerned about long-term exposure to wireless radiation from phones, Wi-Fi routers, cell towers, and other connected devices. I urge HHS to conduct a thorough, independent review of whether current exposure limits adequately protect public health. This review needs to consider those most heavily exposed and should examine potential effects beyond tissue heating, including evidence concerning cancer, reproductive health, and children’s development. Please prioritize research that reflects how people actually encounter wireless radiation: repeated exposure over many years, often from multiple sources and devices used close to the body. Assessments should consider signal strength, pulse patterns, duration, and combined exposure. One of the main reasons that my daughter is selling her house in town is due to lack of sleep since a 5G tower was installed. Please consider Melnick and Moskowitz’s 2026 analysis of animal data, which argues that existing exposure limits may inadequately protect against cancer and reproductive harm (https://doi.org/10.1186/s12940-026-01288-6). I also ask HHS to evaluate Lai and Levitt’s review of exposure intensity, duration, and signal modulation (https://doi.org/10.1080/15368378.2022.2065683), and Scarato’s review of US regulatory gaps and proposed reforms (https://doi.org/10.3389/fpubh.2025.1677583). These papers warrant careful consideration alongside the broader evidence, including studies that have not found adverse effects. I ask HHS to: •Assess whether additional protections are needed for children, pregnant women, and other potentially vulnerable groups. •Support long-term research with safeguards against industry conflicts of interest. •Provide clear information about exposure and practical ways to reduce it, including wired alternatives in homes and schools. •Recommend updated standards wherever the evidence shows that existing limits are insufficient. Consumers should not have to navigate these questions alone. Please use this inquiry to advance transparent science, meaningful oversight, and public health protection.

Reports sensitivity to smart meters and wireless sources, improvement after moving to the country, and re…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am writing to underline the dangers that lurk behind all types of electromagnetic fields. Today we are living in a soup of radiation that is invisible, but potentially harmful. I cannot quote any studies to provide evidence, but I do know that many have been carried out. I myself am proof of the harmful effect that EMF´s can have as I am very sensitive to the radiation of Smart water meters, Wifi signals, bluetooth, cell towers, etc... After suffering from headaches and lack of sleep, I moved out to the country away from cell towers, the WIFI of neighbors and many other sources of 24/7 radiation. My health has greatly improved. I would beg you to study the literature and case studies of sensitive people like me who, like the canaries in a mine, are warning us to pay attention, and do something before everyone´s health is undermined. I thank you for your attention to this important matter, Mary Beth Hitt

Requests low-exposure housing options and analog-meter choice, reports migraines and lost occupation, and…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Radiofrequency radiation is biologically active, and not harmonious with the biology of plants, animals, birds, bees or humans. Policy-wise, it should be made safer, and safe zones for all kinds of emfs should be available to those who reasonably request a mellower more healing environment in homes in particular. For example, only about 2% of the population requests an analog meter so they can sleep or heal at home, or at night, requesting reasonable accomodation in their most private domain. These monopolies should allow this without contest, for it affects the power companies minutely, yet saves lives. This should not be a controversy. Power companies should consider grounding, isolating and filtering all powerful frequencies, as these have effects on all of life, including yours. Choice should be available in any free nation. Privacy is not a luxury. RF increases mold, inflammation, and diabetes. Beyond the biological effects which are openly studied in the goverments own Naval report (1971, or 1972), emfs bring out inflammatory conditions, and even ghosts! Hope there's a chuckle there. For me, the issue causes ocular migraines, cataract with surgery at a young age, the loss of my occupation, and a profound impact on my potential in all areas of life. It causes anxiety and many symptoms in others. Analog should be a choice, and the 1996 Telecommunications act is a form of Treason, imho. Thank you. We can and must do better, safer tech is possible. Thank you.

Reports diagnosed EHS, multiple symptoms and loss of career, housing and social opportunities after workp…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am writing as a person who is adversely affected to the point of being disabled by radio-frequency (RF) radiation. I am a 54-year-old woman from the UK. I was diagnosed with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) in 2009 after suffering unexplained and debilitating symptoms over several years. My symptoms suddenly became extremely severe when Wi-Fi was installed in my university workplace in 2008. (I discovered that Wi-Fi was present only after the onset of far worse symptoms, and it transpired that I had been working immediately above Wi-Fi routers recently fixed to the ceiling of the room below me; thus, an informal and unintended ‘blind’ test took place.) My symptoms include: headaches and head pressure, facial burning and redness, chest pains and chest oppression, palpitations, feelings of ‘fight-or-flight’, digestive problems, stomach pains, nausea, vertigo, ear pain and ringing ears, urinary urgency, problems concentrating and focusing, memory loss, aphasia, exhaustion, insomnia. My symptoms fluctuate in severity depending on the duration and intensity of exposure. They resolve in an area with little or no RF pollution. I feel, however, that my cognition has been irreparably damaged to some degree. I am debilitated and disabled by all sources of wireless radiation: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DECT cordless phones, smart meters and ‘smart’ devices, cellphones and cell towers, etc. I have paid a very high personal price because of my EHS and have lost my career as a university lecturer, my home, my ability to earn a living, the chance of a family, my social life – not to mention my basic human rights. Unless things change, the future looks very bleak indeed for me and for others who are similarly affected. Given the lack of recognition of EHS and its cause, I currently have no access to redress for the harm and loss inflicted on me by the proliferation and ubiquity of wireless technologies and the concomitant RF radiation. I welcome the Department of Health and Human Service’s call for evidence about health harms from RF radiation because recognition of these harms is well overdue. Rather than provide you with a long list of studies on EHS, I here refer to four that I find instructive: Belpomme D, Irigaray P. Reports leaving home because of a smart meter, severe symptoms during exposure and concern about future h…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I can’t live in my home anymore because Madison Gas and electric won’t take the communicating chip out of the smart meter on the home. I’ve had to bounce around between two homes that are outside of the city and don’t have smart meters on their homes. I’m seriously worried about my future. I work hard, and I’d like to continue to work and pay for my living- however, the way I feel when I’m overwhelmed with EMFs is so intense, I’m worried I’ll end up in the hospital. It’s debilitating for me. The most intense brain fog, fatigue, headaches, nausea, dizziness and my jaw, neck, ears are in pain like they’re on fire or something is being pulled from it I can’t explain it. When I stay away for abut a week, all symptoms go away and I feel great. I know it is the electromagnetic frequencies- please please help.

Attributes insomnia, tinnitus and other symptoms to neighbors’ Wi-Fi, reports inability to afford relocat…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
For the first 61 years of my life, I was not exposed to EMF as I had not cell phone nor WIFI router and neither did my landlords. Then I moved into a senior housing building and am now exposed to EMF from WIFI routers from other apartments (I have no router in my apartment.). I have insomnia and what sleep I do get is non-restorative as I toss and turn like crazy. I have developed loud tinnitus, suffer from constant fatigue with muscle pain throughout my body, am annoyed by brain fog and have frequent frontal lobe headaches (I have never had headaches prior to this, even when ill.). When I leave my apartment for a few days to go out into the country, these symptoms lessen - so I know they are from all the exposure to EMFs my body has been forced to deal with for the past several years. I would move, but cannot afford a home in the country and there is no way I can avoid the exposure. Please codify into law strict regulations regarding cell towers and data centers, as well as satellite internet connection and WIFI routers. Thank you.

Reports electrical sensitivity following a concussion and CT scan, describes career and daily-life restri…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a patient and parent. I first became aware of the fact that EMFs, RF, and wireless radiation in our environment affect human health and well-being when I underwent a CT scan after sustaining a concussion. While I have had countless x-rays, sonagrams, and EKGs prior to this procedure, I noticed a strange feeling after I emerged out of the CT scanner--the vibrations in the scanner leaving residual echoes in my body that were unfamiliar to me. That was only the beginning of my initiation into the world of the electrically sensitive. Following this procedure, I quickly witnessed a barrage of symptoms that I still occasionally experience to this day-- twelve years later. I became aurally sensitive to Bluetooth and WiFi frequency to the point where I developed migraines, chest tightness, mental agitation, and myoclonus, or pulsatile tinnitus. While some might wonder if my electrical sensitivity is the result of concussion, there has not been enough unbiased review of how electromagnetic exposures can contribute to and lead to bodily sensitivities and disease to rule these out in the final assessment of how I got here. We cannot rule out at this time, or when my sensitivities surfaced, many likely other factors which may have contributed to the onset of my electrical sensitivity including the magnetism from the CT scan, additive synthesis of my overall EMF exposures at the time, and Mercury in the amalgam fillings I had in my mouth...in other words, the many singular, but potentially interactive, variables that can trigger a person's exposure tipping point at any moment in time. The personal toll my electrical sensitivity has taken on my life has been considerable. It cut short a promising career in technology, and in my work life in general, and affected every choice I make about my travel, social interactions, personal tech use, and daily and living arrangements. Sadly, I have also watched the effects increasing EMFs, RF, and wireless radiation have had on my child, my child's friends, the classroom, and our local school district. Minute-to-minute EMF, RF and wireless radiation exposure and technology addiction have had a harmful affect on the physical and mental health, academic achievement, and privacy of my child; all claims increasingly documented by scientific findings these last several years. I stand with Americans affected by wireless radiation, and believe HHS should continue to raise questions and fund research on the effects of EMFs, RF, and wireless radiation on human biology and psychology. We cannot afford as a society and species to continue expanding and unleashing untested EMF, RF and wireless radiation techologies in service to all but the American public. We deserve to live freely and safely, and need help from the HHS to do that in this instance. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am very hypersensitive to Radiofrequency Radiation, all wireless radiation and to electromagnetic fields. Long tube fluorescent lights are the worst and LEDs and curly fluorescents can be tolerated a bit longer. The closer the lighting is the harder it is on me. The old incandescents are the best for me. Cellphone are horrible. I can't use them or be around them. Even if they are on airplane mode they make me ill. I have a landline telephone and get ill even if I'm using that for a long time or if the line is not very clear and static free. My computer is ethernet and I need to limit my time using it as well. This has all impacted my life severely.

Reports severe pain, sleep and mobility problems followed by improvement after electrical repairs, wired …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS's request for information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMF), Radiofrequency Radiation (RF), and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding in the perspective of a patient. My reaction to EMF exposure: I couldn't sleep for a month - a strange pain in my back and shoulders, a shaking/vibrating sensation would keep me awake, my knees ached, hands and wrists swelled. I lost muscle in my shoulders and arms. My knees began to hurt and fail.I needed a knee brace to walk. I am a hiker! I couldn't dress myself-my arms couldn't function. I was almost cripple. My D.O. couldn't find any physical cause for the symptoms. My chiropractor couldn't find a cause. I have no disease or cormorbidity. I started weekly Acupuncture treatment. I called an EMF expert to evaluate the home. She found: *Strong WI-FI signal for home computer. *High Frequency Cell Tower emitting strong waves directed at the house. *Dirty wiring in bedroom walls We addressed these with help from our electrician: *Switched all computers to Ethernet only, turned off all WI-FI in house and cars. *Installed Whole House Filter and repaired dirty wiring *I don't sit on the front porch (hot spot)or other areas in direct line of Cell Tower. *I purchased an EMF meter, clothes ,Faraday Fabric, sheets to protect from EMF from 2 catalogs (One USA,one Canadian). Before theses changes and treatments we took a pre-planned trip to a remote mountain Lodge. I was almost cripple the first 2 days. By the 3rd and 4th days I was significantly improved and walking well. On a return trip to the Lodge I took my meter - the WI-FI signal is weak throughout, and weakest in our room. In about 8-10 months of these treatments and changes, I finally regained most of my mobility and muscle,my wrist swelling abated,I slept well. When I travel,I carry the meter and protective bedding and clothes. If the WI-FI is strong we can't stay, it may take days to recover after exposure. I don't know if it is safe for me to fly. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing us an opportunity to be heard.
