I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure.
I am responding from the perspective of a patient and parent.
I purchased my home 10 years ago and around 2020-2022 time frame I started suspecting that wireless radiation was affecting me as I was experiencing many of the symptoms that are common complaints: fatigue, couldn’t sleep, headaches. Around 2024-2025 I started feeling additional symptoms of dizziness, loss of balance, and skin problems. I started shutting my WiFi off at night and sleeping improved. Around the same time a 5G small cell tower was installed approximately 250 feet from my home without notification or say in the matter. Similarly, my utilities company stopped servicing my analog meters, and installed 7 smart meters on my row home without notice. I asked the utility company to bring back my analog meters and their answer was that ‘we can do it for you if you pay $75/mo plus get your 6 neighbors to agree to the same.’ Not reasonable at all. Now it’s 2026 and I’m diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, usually benign but has already caused hearing loss and more vertigo. My symptoms improve when I’m away and come back when I return home. This is impacting my life significantly and has potential to be disabling and even require brain surgery. I am a single mom and the only one taking care of my child. I can’t be disabled or not work. HHS should address this issue asap. It will only get worse with 6G on the horizon. I am even more concerned about the impact this could be having on my child’s brain, short and long term. I would move but where is there to go to escape when they are allowed to build on any ROW without notifying and permission of the community.
I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence.
I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.
Thank you for providing individuals, families, health care providers, researchers, and scientists with an opportunity to finally be heard on this critical public health issue.
The power company switched out our regular electric meter for a smart meter several years ago without letting us know. I have felt badly ever since & my husband can't sleep well at all since then. We asked them to change it back & they told us if they did, they would charge us a lot more for electricity which we can't afford. I am really upset about this as I am so worried about the way I feel since then and my doctor can find no physical reason for it. We should certainly have some say when they put these harmful things on our house without our permission. Many of them have also caught on fire which is really worrisome.
I am RF sensitive. RF makes it impossible for me to maintain conversation because I can't connect the dots in the flow of conversation and I cannot recall and verbalize the responses I know I want to make. It makes my brain feel like I've imbibed too much alcohol; it makes my brain feelslike mud, probably because the radiation is opening my calcium channes, flooding calcium into the cell and intoxicating them. I believe, like tobacco smoke, cell phones should not be used in public places. Neither should wi-fi. I believe medical establishments should disallow same. The science is compelling when you remove Big Tech's tobacco science. Do your job to protect Americans.
Hello: We reside in Fort Lauderdale Florida. This is in regard to my own Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome. Because I was unable to sleep for six months, we decided to disconnect the wifi at night. When we found that helpful we changed to ATT so now our home is completely hard wired. We had Florida Power and Light remove our Smart Meter. I purchased 2 gallons of EMF shielding paint for the bedroom, as we pick up the neighbor signals. I bought faraday cloth for the sliding glass door. I sewed a faraday cloth hoodie apron for when we travel and stay in hotels. Three years ago I discovered I also experience a strong vertigo when we shop Office Depot. It was also happening at church on Sundays so we had to change churches. The vertigo starts about 10 to 15 minutes of entering the building and takes just as long to stop when we depart. That is my story. It is a good thing I am retired because it would not be possible to work in a building when the vertigo is as strong as it has been.
My husband is a cancer survivor and we have three young children. We've made many life modifications to limit EMF exposure wherever reasonably possible; including moving, reducing screens/electronics, not moving into new tech waves (smart appliances, watches, airpods, etc). This was even a contributing factor to homeschool our children.
Since the electric company installed a smart meter on my neighbor's house I can no longer sit on my couch without getting la headache with light headedness. I went to my doctor and he diagnosed that I was sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. The smart meter on my neighbor's garage is aimed at the couch in my living room. I have to avoid that area to keep from getting symptoms. I am the president of the Chemical Sensitivity Disorders Association. Many members of my group report getting symptoms from the electromagnetic pollution they encounter. Housing is a big problem for people with electromagnetic sensitivities, apartment buildings are especially troublesome.
I am extremely sensitive to EMF radiation. I'm akin to a coal mine canary for this issue. It developed slowly as EMF proliferated with cell towers, cell phones, and other microwave sources over the decades. I can no longer go into large cities. What I experience is overall an immediate sense of devitalization, like I'm losing energy on every level. like my whole body, is going into increasing states of shutdown. As the symptoms progress, I experience headaches, disorientation, even to the point if it's severe enough that I can become non-functional. It can take me days to come back to a balanced state. EMF jams some of the subtle communication systems that the body has outside the central nervous system complex. The science is there if it's investigated. U.S. government regulations don’t restrict low-level, non-ionizing EMFs and don’t consider biological effects like free radical creation, immune system suppression, neurological efects etc. Federal safety guidelines focus on,ionizing radiation (which breaks chemical bonds) and thermal effects (acute tissue) heating from high-intensity fields). Essentially the current EMF standards completely ignore their most pernicious effects. There are ways to mitigate this directly. I utilize technology from https://www.blushield.com which is highly effective. It can be used for homes and also devices that can be carried. Without this my life would be extremely limited. Building Biology Standards are particularly important in analyzing this general health issue, as they include Non-Thermal Biological Mechanisms. Independent scientific
literature (such as the BioInitiative Report) compiles studies indicating the myriad of non thermal effects.
I highly recommend that you investigate in depth the Bioinitiative 2012 website
mentioned just below.

A Rationale for Biologically-based Exposure Standards
for Low-Intensity Electromagnetic Radiation
https://bioinitiative.org
The credibility of Building Biology's specific low-frequency evaluation guidelines (SBM) sits
outside mainstream consensus regulatory bodies, presenting a mixed picture regarding traditional empirical validation.
Regulatory vs. Biological Limits: Mainstream regulatory agencies (like the ICNIRP or FCC) base limits strictly on short-term, high-intensity thermal effects (measurable tissue heating). By contrast, Building Biology guidelines are set orders of magnitude lower, targeting unproven or debated chronic non-thermal biological mechanisms. [1, 2]
Building Biology guidelines have their basis in the Standard of Building Biology Testing Methods (SBM), built on decades of indoor environmental surveys and measurements insleeping areas, often in collaboration with physicians. [1]
Medical Recognition: Professional medical organizations, such as the Austrian Medical Association and the European Academy for Environmental Medicine (EUROPAEM), have historically referenced or adopted Building Biology sleeping area guidelines as sensiblebenchmarks for long-term (over four hours daily) low-intensity exposures. I am certain that if you do in-depth research you will find that the current standards are unworkable, and that the placement of many cell towers and other microwave and low frequency EMF sources such as power substations and electrical power lines need to be mitigated. There are ways to do this. I suggest that you talk to some of the experts who have researched these fields. you will more than likely receive extreme resistance from utility companies, companies, cell providers, etc. as this would mean immense overwhelming cost to mitigate this by moving towers, etc. I do not believe this is necessary. I believe other mitigation can be provided by devices such as you will read about if you look at the Blue Shield information above. feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
My sensitivity to electromagnetic radiation has caused me to radically alter my lifestyle to reduce exposure. I keep my phone is a radiation case and don't use it at night because it keeps me from sleeping. My computer is hardwired and I carry a Blueshield device to harmonize EMF's. It's been 14 years since I've traveled by airplane. Meanwhile, I do everything possible to minimize exposure.
By nature I am a sensitive person who has trouble with chemical odors and allergies. I am among the canaries in the coal mine at the moment because we are naturally more sensitive to everything. Surprisingly, about 20 percent of the population is in this predicament. There are so many conditions and health issues associated with this problem. Why the alarms aren't sounding for the increasing exposures for everyone, especially children, is mystifying!
Please be proactive and forward thinking regarding the harm this is doing in our world. Corporate profits and greed should not be the governing factor here.
My wife has Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, which includes potentially extreme reactions to “normal” or “minimal” exposure to radio frequency radiation from a variety of technological sources. She has an ADA accommodation to work full time from home in order to minimize exposure, which has resulted in symptoms such as tachycardia and blacking out. I am also very concerned with the negative impact on insects, wildlife and trees, as has been documented by Arthur Firstenberg.
Hello,
Thank you for looking into this issue. As a 49-year-old woman, I have lived a mostly healthy life. I work in technology and have been in and around EMFs for the past 30 years. I did not have noticeable reactions until they deployed 5G. I became electrohypersensitive and could not travel to cities with a high number of towers and antennas. My symptoms: tachycardia, brain fog, red eyes, headaches, sweating, a sense of dizziness, and many more. It took me about a year and a half before I could figure out what was happening, and I was able to pin down the symptoms occurring only in a highly EMF-dense area. To this day, I cannot safely travel to work conferences and stay in hotels. It is very concerning, and I hope we can address this issue as a nation.
