Exposure limits & oversight

We need to regulate wireless technology with non-biased science free of industry influence. I’m someone who is negatively impacted by wireless technology. Smart meters, routers, cell towers, especially 5G cause me fatigue and discomfort. I’ve had to put measures in place to reduce my exposure but that’s not enough. We need strong national regulations to protect children and youth, wildlife, and the public. Polease do all you can to make the regulations as strict and safety conscious as possible. Thank you.

Hello, as a citizen of the United States of America, I am a proud woman with a capitalist mindset. That said, we cannot allow big businesses of any type to continue to run rampant and harm our health. For decades, we have allowed businesses and lobbyists dictate what is good for America, and for decades they have been wrong. We continue to get more unhealthy, sicker and weaker as each year goes by. EMF Radiation is one of those things that has become both commonplace AND extremely harmful. We all carry cell phones, and most have no idea what the safe operating range is because they do not know where to look for that in their settings and nobody is openly disclosing it. My phone is 8 inches! Who talks on the phone with it 8 inches away from their head? We have microwaves, Smart meters, fit bits, 5G towers, and a multitude of other devices surrounding us, both known and unknown.... What about Data Centers? How are they safe when people and animals are effected that live around them? I am reaching out to offer my experience in the Maine State Legislature. I dealt with this issue in the 2000s, by introducing a bill asking for warning labels on cell phones, especially for children, due to radiation from it entering our brains. The bill past in both houses, but "leadership" brought in lobbyists to finally change enough votes to kill it: I was a Maine State Legislator and did a great amount of work, with wonderful expert supporters. Data Centers send out big radiation today. Ed Friedman, still working that issue, enlightened me on that; it's not just water and electric power. But who is being allowed to know?

Thank you for requesting public comments about RF wireless radiation, as well as other forms of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF), including extremely low-frequency electric and magnetic fields from power lines, electrical grid equipment, appliances, and other sources. The U.S. government’s safety limits have not kept up with Americans' use and exposure to technology. The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) RF wireless radiation exposure guidelines have not been updated since 1996 and in 2019, the agency declined to change them. https://www.fcc.gov/general/radio-frequency-safety-0 Meanwhile EMF emissions are increasing as new 765 kV high-voltage transmission lines have been proposed for AI data centers and wireless infrastructure continues to be deployed. I am the Ohio Point Person for Children’s Health Defense (CHD) EMR + Wireless Coalition and a board member of SWORT (Southwest Ohio for Responsible Technology). SWORT is a non-partisan grassroots group with members throughout Ohio. We receive no funding. We hear from Ohioans who have been injured from EMF exposure and/or they have loved ones who have been injured. There is only so much we can do to help them. We advise that they eliminate all wireless sources in their homes but this is not always possible as not all utility providers allow consumers to “opt out” of their wireless “smart” meters. Having a wireless-free home isn’t always enough either, for example in situations when wireless emitting infrastructure (cell towers, etc.) has been installed near their homes. Not everyone can afford to shield their homes or move to a safer location. We also regularly refer Ohioans to national organizations for advice on how to address these issues. There is only so much these organizations can do to help them as well. Currently there are Americans of all ages whose health is being compromised by EMF exposure. Some are truly suffering and they have no way to protect themselves from it. This will only get worse if U.S. government agencies do not immediately take action to resolve this. FCC Court Mandate To Whom It May Concern: I am submitting this comment to formally urge the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to update the United States exposure limits for radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields. The current federal exposure limits were adopted in 1996 and remain rooted in an obsolete thermal model that presumes biological harm occurs only if tissue is acutely heated. In 1996, mobile phones were utilized sporadically and held away from continuous bodily contact. Today, wireless exposure is near-constant, multi-source, and delivered directly against human skin across an expansive ecosystem of personal and commercial devices: 1. Continuous Contact and Body-Worn Devices: The 1996 standards never envisioned hardware engineered to operate in direct, uninterrupted contact with the human body for 16 to 24 hours a day. Millions of Americans now continuously wear smartwatches, fitness trackers, and connected rings, alongside direct-in-ear transmitters like Bluetooth earbuds and wireless headsets. Testing standards based on short-duration, separated-distance models fail to reflect the cumulative biological load of these skin-contact technologies. 2. Dense Multi-Source Living and Work Environments: Current Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) evaluations assess a single isolated device. However, daily environments subject individuals to simultaneous, overlapping fields from: Mobile hardware: High-powered smartphones running simultaneous cellular (5G/4G LTE), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth radios, frequently carried directly in pants or jacket pockets. Portable computing: Wi-Fi- and cellular-enabled tablets, laptops, and e-readers resting directly on laps or near vital organs during work and education. Household and municipal infrastructure: High-output Wi-Fi 6/7 mesh routers, smart electric and water utility meters, smart TVs, voice-assistant smart speakers, and automated home security hubs broadcasting continuous beacon signals. 3. Non-Thermal and Chronic Low-Level Biological Effects: The assumption that only thermal burns or acute heating warrant safety margins is contradicted by substantial independent, peer-reviewed scientific literature—including research from the National Toxicology Program (NTP). Studies demonstrate cellular oxidative stress, metabolic disruption, and potential neurological impacts from persistent low-level pulsed fields, even when temperatures remain unchanged. 4. Failure to Protect Developing Neurological Systems: Standardized plastic mannequins modeled after adult male dimensions do not account for children or adolescents. Thinner cranial bones, greater fluid conductivity, and smaller body mass mean modern wireless tablets, educational laptops, and phones deliver higher relative doses to children’s developing nervous systems. 5. Mandated Compliance with EHT v. FCC: In Environmental Health Trust, et al. v. FCC (11 F.4th 912, D.C. Cir. 2021), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled that the FCC acted arbitrarily and capriciously by terminating its inquiry into its 1996 limits without providing a reasoned explanation regarding non-cancer harms, chronic exposures, and modern children's usage. The FCC, in coordination with HHS and the FDA, must fulfill this legal remand through a transparent, science-based review rather than maintaining reliance on a 30-year-old framework. The federal government must align its regulations with today's multi-device, body-worn reality by updating RF exposure limits to account for continuous, non-thermal, cumulative exposures. Please do something to help people diabled from these exposures! Please minimize exposure to everyone! Set limits that are realistic to not damage everyone. I have been electrically and chemically sensitive as well as sensitive to mold for many years. I can no t live in my home in town. I live primitive on a family farm. I can not be on line long at all. I fight many things and struggle to survive in everyday life. Wireless is everywhere and satellite everything its a mine field for people like me. Precision ag is one of the worst i fight. Farm equipment is wireless tech and satellite so when programmed to a field it’s miserable and a horrible exposure to me. Also the farmer if not finished will leave their equipment in the field on still drawing signal which keeps me from sleeping. It’s miserable torture. If its in an approximate one mile radius of me left on i have to go shut the madter battery disconnect off to kill signal. There should be a law that they cannot leave these unattended and on! Tracking of everything is murder to me. Semis mailtrucks garbage trucks you name it!

I have been physically damaged by wifi, 5G, smart meters, cell phones, even portable home phones. These frequencies should be regulated, not given a carte blanche to do whatever they want to do with the public health, so long as the manufacturers make money. Way too many scientific studies and testaments have been rigorously investigated and dismissed by the cell phone industries and smart meters to follow, because the truth is troublesome to the industries. The scientists are still waging the battle but the US government so far has blinded itself to the truth. Other countries know what harm those frequencies can cause to their population, and they have limited human and animal exposure through regulation or legislation; not so the US. I am writing to formally request your attention, oversight, and investigation into grave concerns regarding health, human rights, physical safety, and bodily autonomy in Puerto Rico. A growing number of individuals on the island identify as "Targeted Individuals" (TIs). They report experiencing severe, chronic physiological and psychological distress that they attribute to non-consensual exposure to high-power electromagnetic radiation (EMR), radiofrequency (RF) fields, or directed energy technologies.  Historically, Puerto Rico has been the site of extensive military testing, radar installations, and scientific experiments. This legacy has left a deep-seated vulnerability and distrust among local communities regarding environmental and technological safety. Individuals reporting these experiences frequently describe symptoms such as intense neurological disruption, chronic sleep deprivation, severe headaches, internal vibrations, burns, and cognitive impairments, among other concerns. These symptoms severely degrade their health/quality of life, economic stability, and overall well-being.  I'm part of this growing number of individuals and a victim of this ilegal experimentation. The United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment—to which the United States is a signatory—strictly prohibits any form of non-consensual experimentation or physical and psychological abuse. When citizens report targeted harassment or physical distress linked to electromagnetic energy, it is imperative that public health and human rights officials take these concerns seriously rather than dismissing them. To address these compounding concerns and ensure the protection of all residents, I respectfully urge your office to take the following actions: Establish Independent Monitoring: Conduct transparent, independent environmental testing of electromagnetic and radiofrequency levels in residential areas, particularly near major technological or industrial installations.
