Smart meters

It started in 2011, when a smart meter was put on the house. I began noticing a burning sensation on my skin, the kind that felt like a radiation burn—flushing, tingling, pins and needles that settled hardest around my head and chest. Headaches followed, excruciating migraines that would not let up. My eyes felt jiggly and unstable. There was a constant internal vibration, as if something inside me was humming. Weakness set in, then deeper weakness in my arms and legs, along with trembling. My joints ached and went numb. One eyelid began to droop. My heart raced. Shortness of breath came with it, and chest pain that felt like the start of a heart attack. I grew faint and, more than once, passed out. Vertigo made the room tilt. My ears hurt. Sleep disappeared; insomnia left me awake through the night. Nausea turned into vomiting. My stomach stayed unsettled. I could not keep enough fluid in me and felt dehydrated. Through all of it ran a heavy malaise, the sense that my whole system was failing. I would get “sunburnt” sitting inside the car. The signals bounce around the metal interior and pass through the body. It was a long road to discovering the culprits. Exposure leaves me basically disabled. The triggers include dirty electricity, ungrounded electricity, surveillance cameras, cell-phone signals, electric transmission lines, electric cars, smart dashes, smart watches, smart televisions, Wi-Fi, 5g, LED lights (I can use only incandescent bulbs), and anything that emits a microwave signal. We sold our forever home at a loss and moved to a remote place with no cell service and no smart meter. I keep only hardwired electronics, an old landline, and older appliances with no smart features. After moving-I secured a new job that was in an all electronically wired building. I left my job after the building allowed cell phones inside and installed Wi-Fi printers. Before that it had been a high-security workplace where everything stayed wired, and that had been tolerable until that point. I cannot go into a store or sit in traffic among other people’s phones. Stepping back to this necessity lifestyle has used up our monetary resources. I can't earn an income. To understand what had happened to me, I read the work of Dietrich Klinghardt, Joseph Mercola, Martin Pall, and Mark A. Plinsky. I have also found a few organizations that offer a lot of information on how to avoid and remediate emfs and rfs in every day life. The complaints I live with—the skin burning, the crushing headaches, the fatigue and weakness, the heart symptoms, the ear pain and jaw pain, the internal vibrations, the dizziness, and the insomnia—match the cluster those sources describe in people who attribute their illness to electromagnetic fields. The setup required to minimize my illness is very isolating. It would be good for the American public to be more informed. This is a very real problem. It is a health emergency for many. I believe that folks don't know what is happening to them-and doctors/caregivers don't know where to look for answers-as this is not generally recognized as a mainstream problem. It should be.

I have suffered from Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome for over 6 years. It was diagnosed by two clinicians. Our home is near a cell tower and we had to take significant measures to remediate our exposure not only to the cell towers, but also to our exposure to all the smart meters in our neighborhood. We have no WIFI in our house and painted the walls in our bedrooms to block the radiation coming through. It gave me headaches, insomnia and aggravated my Lyme disease. It's especially bad inside a newer car with all kinds of smart devices. I was made aware of more people who had the same issue and became an EMF Consultant. I have clients who suffered horribly from their exposure, and many didn't have the financial resources needed to mitigate the problem. This is a serious problem. Our government agencies must do their due diligence to protect the people from this ubiquitous environmental toxin.

As a concerned mother and retired elementary-school teacher, I urge FCC to take a strong stance protecting public health by updating our current exposure-guidelines to appropriate safety levels that protect our people. Wireless radiation standards haven’t been updated by FCC since 1996. Given that the ‘safe’ level established in 1996 already surpassed the evidence-based threshold-of-harm that thousands of scientific studies indicated, and given that we and our children are now in a wireless environment bombarded with higher and higher levels of radiation – cell-phone grids, wireless phones, Smartboards, plasma TV’s, computers, wireless Internet, ear phones, etc. – the public, especially children and elderly, are being subjected to an ever-increasing virulent and toxic soup of radiation exposure. And it is having dire consequences. Children are demonstrating increasing levels of agitation, distractibility and sleeping disorders (from the students I taught back in 1978), due to wireless overstimulation. There is also mitochondrial damage from over-exposure. Recently, five wireless meters were added to end of my building, and my sleeping patterns have been affected. Further, adults and senior citizens are increasingly complaining of balance and disorientation issues that often result in serious injuries. Humans are electromagnetic beings, just like other animals, and in the same way that geese or whales are disrupted in migratory routes by an overload of wireless radiation, humans are adversely impacted, as well. These reckless dangers must stop. Our exposure guidelines are archaic and do not reflect the wireless soup in which we’re immersed. Please protect public health by updating our current exposure-guidelines to appropriate safety levels that protect our people.

Thank you Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the staff of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for at long last offering the general public as well as medical and scientific professionals the opportunity to inform you of the many adverse effects of RF/EMF infrastructure and devices. I am a U.S. citizen, writing as an individual consumer, who has been researching these adverse effects (with others who are equally knowledgeable and pro-active) for 7 years. I have written a number of Op-Ed submissions to my local newspaper, as well as made oral and written comments to my city council, RI General Assembly representatives, and to my federal Representative and Senators. Rather than summarize all of this work, I will attach them to this public comment. I will be addressing the following numbers as delineated in the Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure: #3. a.—focusing on cell tower placement, small cell antennas on utility poles in front of homes and schools, Wi-Fi, smart phones, cordless phones, so-called Smart Meters, and the wireless mesh required to run these meters #5—the total inadequacy of the 1996 FCC exposure guidelines (as well as the ICNIRP guidelines) to protect the public and the organic environment #9—exposure-related information should be disclosed to consumers, residents, workers, schools, healthcare providers, and local governments #10—the need for disease registries and environmental monitoring and reporting #11—pregnant women, embryos/fetuses, children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, those with implanted devices, and those with preexisting medical conditions all need to be considered #12—scientific evidence has existed for decades that establish harm from exposure many times lower than the 1996 guidelines Please read and consider all of the testimony presented to you and acknowledge that the FCC’s1996 radiation exposure guidelines must be revised to protect human health and the organic environment. My name is Frederick P Sinclair Jr I am a retired Soil and Water Conservationist who for thirty five years tended to resource protection as leader of the Conservation District covering over 600,000 acres within Allegany County NY. I witnessed the establishment and implementation of of several environmental protection laws and was expert at the application of SEQR in performing evaluation of environmental impact. I served three terms as a Town Supervisor and one term as County Legislator and was on several community organization and regional boards. I am a current resident of the Town of Alfred and nearby to the Village of Alfred that hosts two higher institutions of learning Suny Alfred and Alfred University. When in the illage I am sensitive to the 11 nearby towers and antenna arreays servicing the area. Within a short exposure during school sessions I experience dizziness, arithmias, tinitus, and have to leave the areas of intense exposure. My home is located a mile from the village, however a tower has been retrofitted with 4GLTE and then 5G during my time in this the retirement home for myself and wife. The tower is 2,000 feet from my home and 3000 feet in elevation, servicing a broad area. I was on the Town Planning Board when they tower company (near my home) sought a permit for modification and our application of SEQR uncovered enough impacts, to the residential property values, to an organic dairy farm grazing animals within 100 yards, a large sugarbush producing maple syrup, and dangers to Mercy Flight emergency routes (altimeter impact) and the local municipal airport traffic. The Town justified and NYS DEC published that and environmental impact statement was requested by the Town. Legal threeats forced the Town to not push for the EIS. I have no wiFi in my home and have also opted out of Smart Metering. I have taken several measures to protect against EMR in my home but still experience Tinnitus and occasional arithmias and live in the shadow of exposure to microwave emissions. The question of allthese sources meeting FCC regulations is a bothersome claim when these regulations are 30 years old and the exposures have increased exponentially. The proof of need to examine and update has and is being submitted. The role of HHS and associated agencies is critical in assuring a livable environment in the future.

A few years back picked up tinnitus cuz in our previous home cuz it had a smart electric meter that we weren’t aware of not to mention a deadly 5G tower behind our property. Double whammy. This in addition to smart (stupid) phones and WiFi signals throughout house that emit dangerous to our bodies EMF’s. As representatives of the people you need to install safeguards and guardrails cuz utility companies and corporations don’t care just look for profit

Hi, my name is Julie Beck l, I live in the Town of Frisco in Colorado. I live in a condo, 4 units in my building. Last February I opted out of Xcel Energy smart electric meter program, I encouraged all my neighbors to do so too explaining that the meters are 6ft from where the ground floor unit holders sleep and withing your bio energetic field which emits 5-6ft from us all. I was the only one to opt out and have a non communicating meter but the other 3 meters and 1 for our laundry unit emit pulses of emf rf every 45 seconds. I am unable to sleep in my master bedroom for 1.5 years now because of this. Xcel energy does nothing, my hoa wont do anything, my Town wont do anything with a building code. Have to sleep in my spare bedroom with a silver beanie on my head every night so I dont get a headache and wired. I am not a headache person and slept ok for the prior 18 years I lived here. My $1million condo is unusable!! I have an RF meter and go around my Town and the RF is off the charts next to our preschool and private middle/high school. I just showed the Town Manager the frequencies as he and I walked around Town. Apparently the FCC has free reign to place EMF tower eg 5G, anywhere in our town. No one at the town hall, on town council, even knows the frequencies being emitted or if its a 5G or 6G tower. They are in residential areas. The south side of Main St between 4th and 5th Ave are ofd the charts EMF RF, I have seen over 200 Mw/m² ( Milli Watts per meter squared) on the side walk. My RF meter says "safe" until 15 Mw/m² then it says "over" and starts beeping and goes red. I feel angry and haggard after walking through that block and people are eating on the sidewalk there. And we wonder why peole are angry, sterile, sick. The FCC is corrupt and has outdated 1990s upper limit standards compared to other European countries. I tell people that whatever the government says, if u do the opposite then you will be fine! The government is responsible for contaminating our air with dangerous emfs, chemical trails/particulate matter, poisoning our water, our food (glyphosate, diquat etc) and doing little or nothing to regulate poisons in our food. Every restaurant serves poison water and sysco truck low quality poisoned food. BLQCKROCK etc has bought any good food company and poisoned the food. Darpa or whoever has fucked our skies with poisons, the sky isn't the same violet blue any longer and emfs are emitted daily, I see the wispy clouds, chem trails, funky clouds that are man made. And whats with the created drought last winter??? Sick of it.

Finally, someone who will listen to my wife Norma's and my story. Thank you, Secretary Kennedy, we have been waiting for too long and now thanks to you, we can tell our story. I am including a PDF document produced back in 2016 and distributed to Director Linda S. Birnbaum at the NIH, Dr. Ricky Langley with the North Carolina State Health Department, and many other research institutions with no response. My wife, Norma Hailey Martin, passed away July 9, 2019. She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, July 7, 2019, diagnosed with a massive stroke. She was unconscious (breathing on her own) the entire time she was in the hospital, but the doctors said she would eventually pass away due to the extreme damage sustained by her brain due to the stroke. She remained in the hospital until Tuesday evening, July 9, 2019, when she was transferred to a hospice facility. She was only at the hospice facility approximately two hours before she passed away that evening, July 9, 2019. Prior to the stroke, Norma had been diagnosed with dementia, specifically severe frontal lobe atrophy. Over 13 years, her mental capacity diminished until she was no longer herself, becoming combative, using curse words she never used before, and eventually becoming unable to walk being confined to a wheelchair. She had been living at home with me as her caregiver until she fell one day and I couldn't get her up. She was then transferred to an assisted living/dementia care center for the remainder of her life until the stroke on July 7, 2019. While she was living at home with me, a smart meter was installed on our house on the exterior wall of our master bedroom on March 28, 2006, and that is the beginning of this story regarding Norma's mental decline. I didn't know anything about a "smart meter" prior to her going into the assisted living/dementia care facility until reading numerous articles relating to them. After Norma was placed in the assisted living/dementia care facility, I immediately started an investigation and was very disturbed in my research and investigation results. While living at home, Norma had been sleeping for 10 years with a smart meter virtually on her head (see photos contained in the attached PDF document). The smart meter was installed on the outside of the house in the exterior wall adjacent/directly behind Norma's head where she slept in our bedroom. I purchased a test meter for measuring radiation and every 30 seconds the test meter would ping into the red danger zone. The original smart meter was replaced on November 26, 2018, with a different smart meter and the new smart meter does not ping in the red danger zone (did they replace the meter knowing it was dangerous to us?). I wondered if any of my neighbors had similar smart meters on their exterior bedroom walls like ours, so I went around the entire neighborhood looking at where each house's smart meter was located. Only one house in the entire neighborhood was identical to ours, with their bed located directly adjacent to where the smart meter was installed. That couple's health was apparently good until the smart meter was installed. They both started having health issues after that and have since passed away. Dr. Kennedy, thank you again for requesting and allowing me to tell our story (please see attached PDF document). I feel honored to do so, and this will add some closure to my family's years of frustration and grief.

I have acute electromagnetic hypersensitivity. It began with multiple perplexing symptoms: muscle and joint pain especially my legs and feet; memory difficulties; dizziness/fogginess; heart pounding/palpitations; cataracts (just had cataract surgery); ringing in the ears constantly; night sweats; periodic itching; etc. All I could do was sit on the couch and cry. Desperate, I found the first website WEEP (which goes back to 2008!) describing everything I was experiencing and found books and articles I devoured (Exposed by Bill Cadwallader; EMF Practical Guide by Lloyd Burrell, Zapped by Ann Louise Gittleman, The Invisible Rainbow by Arthur Firstenberg.…) Discovering there are EMF specialists, I hired one here in the Twin Cities (Building Biologists) who helped with some mitigations such as replacing smart meter, installing ethernet, turning breakers off at night, creating a safe sleeping space, EMF power strips, ditching the microwave, etc. I consulted with an EMF specialist online, Jeremy Johnson, who helped further with meters, travel bed canopies, fiber optic set up with the ethernet, computer safety, etc. I’m surrounded by cell towers, from 1/2 to 2 miles away. My previous regular bike route in any direction passes a cell tower. EMF protective clothing and blankets can help a little particulary in the car but are only a small part of the equation. There have been many studies concerning EMF particularly with iPhones as listed in the books above; however, the standard on what is safe still goes back to tests done in the 90s measuring heat – we are way past that now! I also have read many articles about 5G and 6G having been developed as bioweapons by our own government – why do we need these frequencies? Lastly, I can hardly stand it when I see cell towers placed at schools, churches and parks with children being exposed day after day. Four doctors and a dentist later, I am giving them information on EMF and symptoms. They never heard of it – are they diagnosing symptoms such as mine without realizing the real source? I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a patient. the electric company installed smart meters on the home I was renting and all the surrounding neighbors. I developed headaches 24/7 and muscle spasms. I could not sleep, I could not work, I could not function. I had to go to a wooded area and sleep in my car to get any rest. I became dehydrated and spent nine days in the hospital. I had to move to a rural area to get as far away from radiation as possible leaving my family and friends and had to close my business. Some friends had inherited an old farm house 2 miles from a cell tower and did NOT have a SMART METER which they let me move into wtith rent far below market. I have since recovered my health but I have NOT been able to re-establish my business and am struggling to live on social security. Then the local electric company installed smart meters on my neighbors and threatened to disconnect my electric service if I did not allow them to install one on this home. I then agreed to pay them $100 to install an analog meter and $40 each month for them to read it. This is an EXORTION FEE. I am capable of reading the meter and providing the info to them just like residents of other states including Indiana. These utility companies have a monopoly and they are using it to profit at our expense. Thank you for considering my physical and financial comments.
