Requests independent proximity and exposure studies to distinguish risk from speculation and favors publi…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
There are quite a few opinions and wild conspiracy theories about wireless radiation, but not many factual independent studies on the health effects. The technology is going to keep getting better, so I think there needs to be independent studies. If the studies focus on distance (considering the inverse square) to devices, and how RF is similar to light, it might reduce some of the opinions and put the public at ease with the technology. Most devices are quite far away from people, so the theories are likely way off base. Conversely, many devices that are installed are close to occupants and are high power (with no check or sometimes even regulations), so they are most likely causing health danger - (smart meters next to beds, 5G cylinder street towers next to apartment windows, etc...); so a study done on proximity effects would be helpful. Ideally, with the exception of public health danger, education versus regulation would be preferred.

Criticizes the inquiry and argues that scientific evidence supports the safety of non-ionizing exposure.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
This is so stupid. Why are you seeking public input on conspiracy theory nonsense? What could this possibly achieve? The scientific evidence has been looked at. It's fine, as one would expect from non-ionizing radiation! We are bombarded by non-ionizing radiation from the sun every day at mich higher intensities and frequencies! It's called visible light! https://www.nature.com/articles/s41370-021-00297-6

Raises family sleep and behavioral concerns and requests independent research on health and wildlife.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Dear HHS, I am writing to ask that the affects of wireless radiation are fully studied on how they affect the human body, wildlife and environment in general. This HAS to be done to ensure the human population is not more negatively affected by this technology. I know from personal experience how this has affected my family. The use of computers, pads and phones has greatly impacted my husband. He no longer is able to sleep deeply or for long periods of time. At most he gets four to five hours of interrupted sleep and that also greatly affects me! His job mandates the use of all this technology unfortunately. It has basically ruined his sleep which is also impacting his health in general as many many studies have proven about lack of sleep. The other impact this technology has had on our family is either my grandchildren. One parent works from home so there are more computers and screens and wireless boosters in their home than normal. I can see how it affects their behavior (they are much more agitated on days we have to play indoors!) and neither of them sleep well. It breaks my heart to see this is how they are growing up. PLEASE do the independent research and do NOT be influenced by big these wireless companies and their profits. You were hired to work and protect us not them! Thank you, Kathy Kuflewski

A former tower climber describes symptoms during work, questions safety rules and requests occupational r…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I highly recommend and ask that you all do research into the workers who are exposed to this RF on a daily basis. As someone who used to work on cell phone towers there would be days that equipment was pointed right at us from an adjacent tower and we could taste metal in our mouthes, sometimes get terrible headaches, sometimes even ringing in the ear. As to whether or not it’s harmful to the daily person not as close to the antennas, I’m not sure but research most certainly should be done into the workers who are around them all the time. I’m 25 and got out of the industry due to lack of RF and other safety regulations but hearing some of the stories from folks who have been in longer made me wonder and reconsider what I was doing for work. If you all would like to speak with some more climbers please reach out to Climber Protection Group, we’d be happy to provide more information.

Raises childhood leukemia and neurological concerns, describes tinnitus of uncertain cause, and requests …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
When I grew up in England they started building houses under power lines. 10kvolts+ and then shortly after that when one community had a sudden rise in leukemia rates they did research and found the electromagnetic fields around the lines were causing the issue. They needs to be research done on frequency and its effects, then regulations to follow. I have tinnitus and white noise issues. I have no way of knowing where this is because of the new frequency’s that have been added. I have no option but to have 2g my car (there is no way to turn it off). Just because science moves on and we can, doesn’t mean we should. I think people with preexisting conditions like add and adhd are more sensitive to frequency’s and I think more research should be done on this. Thank you for giving us the opportunity with to share our thoughts. Dr Adrian Thane

A teacher describes migraines and autoimmune illness, requests independent research into susceptibility a…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am a 51-year-old public school educator living with chronic autoimmune illness. I am submitting this comment because I believe the potential health consequences of prolonged exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and radiofrequency (RF) radiation deserve serious, independent scientific investigation, particularly among individuals with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. I experience chronic inflammation, migraines, fatigue, and episodes of significant physical malaise. Over the years, I have observed that some of my most severe symptoms appear to coincide with environments containing extensive wireless infrastructure. In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, new 5G cellular towers were installed in my area. During this period, I began experiencing frightening physical symptoms while traveling along interstate highways. On multiple occasions, I experienced episodes of apparent loss of consciousness while riding as a passenger. I also experienced painful bladder spasms that seemed to occur when traveling near certain cellular towers. These experiences became so debilitating that I struggled to travel on interstate highways. I purchased a silver-infused garment marketed for electromagnetic shielding and began wearing a Q-Link pendant, which I continue to wear daily. My career as a public school teacher raises additional concerns about occupational exposure and children’s health. Today’s classrooms are saturated with wireless technology. In my school, every student has a chromebook, and each classroom contains two enormous interactive smartboards. Wireless networks operate continuously throughout the school day, with dozens of devices communicating simultaneously. I experience migraines, inflammation, fatigue, and general malaise that interfere with my ability to function comfortably throughout the school day. Teachers spend approximately seven to eight hours daily in these environments, often for decades. Children spend much of their developmental years surrounded by wireless infrastructure. I question whether sufficient independent, long-term research has examined the cumulative effects of these exposures, particularly among individuals with existing inflammatory, neurological, or autoimmune conditions. I respectfully request that HHS prioritize the following areas of investigation: 1. Autoimmune and inflammatory responses: Investigate whether chronic RF exposure influences inflammatory pathways, immune regulation, oxidative stress, or symptom severity in individuals with autoimmune disease. 2. Neurological and autonomic symptoms: Examine reported associations between environmental RF exposure and migraines, dizziness, loss of consciousness, bladder dysfunction, fatigue, and other neurological or autonomic disturbances. 3. Individual susceptibility: Investigate whether certain populations, including individuals with chronic illness, experience different physiological responses to environmental electromagnetic exposure. 4. Cumulative exposure in schools: Conduct independent assessments of RF exposure in classrooms containing numerous student devices, wireless access points, and interactive smartboards. Evaluate both actual exposure levels and long-term health outcomes. 5. Existing safety standards: Reevaluate whether current RF exposure guidelines adequately address chronic exposure, evolving wireless technologies, and potential biological effects beyond established thermal mechanisms. 6. Exposure reduction: Investigate practical strategies for reducing unnecessary wireless emissions in educational settings, including wired connections and alternatives to continuous wireless connectivity. 7. Research integrity: Ensure that studies are independently funded, transparently conducted, and designed to investigate potential risks without predetermined conclusions. I recognize that personal observations do not establish scientific causation and that existing research has not consistently demonstrated that symptoms attributed to electromagnetic exposure are caused by RF radiation. Yet, the symptoms are real, and individuals reporting them deserve serious medical attention and rigorous scientific investigation. The absence of conclusive evidence of harm should not be treated as proof that every potential long-term health consequence has been adequately investigated. As an educator, I am particularly concerned about the widespread adoption of wireless technologies in schools without sufficiently examining possible consequences for vulnerable students and employees. I'm not advocating the abandonment of technology, but for responsible research, transparency, appropriate precaution, and informed public policy. People living with chronic illnesses should not have to choose between participating fully in society and protecting their health. Our technological capabilities should never advance faster than our willingness to investigate their potential consequences.

Describes extensive family symptoms after moving near towers and using indoor Wi-Fi, mitigation attempts …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment as a private citizen and parent documenting our family’s multi-year experiences with symptoms that temporally correlate with increased exposure to radiofrequency (RF) radiation and electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from mobile devices, home hotspots (MiFi), Wi-Fi networks, surveillance cameras, and proximity to cellular infrastructure. These observations are offered to assist HHS in evaluating real-world health experiences associated with RF/EMF exposure, particularly among families and potentially vulnerable individuals. Our family previously lived for three years in Astoria, Oregon, without nearby cell towers and without a continuous home hotspot. During that period we experienced none of the symptoms described below and no longer required pain-management care. We also lived earlier at Mile 10 of Eagle River Road in Alaska, again without close cellular infrastructure, and similarly reported nearly none of the same issues. In August 2024 we moved into an apartment in Anchorage, Alaska, located approximately three blocks from two cell towers (one AT&T and one believed to be Verizon) at 7th Avenue and Karluk Street. Concurrently, our household has used mobile devices, an iPad, and a home MiFi hotspot. The apartment building also maintains seven surveillance cameras connected to continuous basement Wi-Fi whose signals reach our unit day and night. Since relocating, multiple family members have developed new or markedly worsened symptoms that improve under specific exposure-reduction conditions and worsen under higher-exposure conditions. All relevant medical evaluations (bloodwork, emergency-room assessments) have returned normal results, including statements that my cardiac findings appear among the healthiest the treating physicians have seen. Observed Symptoms and Correlations * Sleep disruption and nightmares: Frequent awakenings (sometimes several times per night) occur if phones are not placed in airplane mode. Nightmares intensify without a silver-infused beanie and appear more pronounced once permanent winter snow cover is present. Silver-infused bed sheets and a grounding mat with ground-plug connection have provided partial relief. * Headaches: My wife experiences significant headaches that began after the move and proximity to the towers. * Blood-pressure elevation and chest pain: Both my wife and I experience elevated blood pressure and chest pain, especially in later winter months, or when the home hotspot lacks aluminum-foil shielding properly directed away from the core living area. Emergency evaluations yield normal cardiac bloodwork. * Cognitive and mood effects in a child: After extended iPad use, our son exhibits mood swings, severe forgetfulness of simple information, confusion, and frustration. A silver-infused beanie reduces these symptoms when worn. * Pain, body aches, and brain fog: These symptoms led both adults to resume care with a pain-management physician after years without such treatment. Symptoms lessen when the building’s basement Wi-Fi and cameras are offline. * Menstrual irregularities: My wife, in perimenopause, experiences cycles that can last a full month; laboratory bloodwork remains normal. * Seasonal and environmental modifiers: Symptoms intensify with continuous snow cover and diminish under reduced RF exposure (airplane mode, shielding, offline Wi-Fi). We have implemented multiple mitigation and health-support measures: silver-infused beanies and bed sheets, aluminum-foil shielding of the hotspot, a grounding mat, dietary avoidance of artificial sweeteners, gelatins, and processed beef/pork, regular use of ZeroWater filters, upgraded bath and shower filters designed to remove heavy metals, chlorine, chemicals, and fluoride, and supplements (silica, sea moss, oregano oil, etc.) intended to support heavy-metal clearance. Despite these steps, the listed symptoms persist in correlation with RF/EMF sources. Symptoms were largely absent in residences without nearby cell towers and continuous high-level indoor wireless sources. Symptoms appeared or intensified after moving within three blocks of two cell towers and into a building with continuous basement Wi-Fi-linked cameras. Temporary reductions in exposure (airplane mode, shielding, offline Wi-Fi) produce measurable short-term improvement in sleep, pain, blood pressure, and cognitive clarity. Medical work-ups consistently return normal laboratory and cardiac findings, leaving the temporal and exposure-linked patterns unexplained by conventional diagnostic results. I request that HHS consider these documented family observations - alongside clinical reports from other citizens and healthcare providers - when assessing the state of the evidence on RF/EMF health effects, potential research gaps and the adequacy of current exposure guidelines for real-world, multi-source environments. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Describes symptoms attributed to Wi-Fi and phones, loss of wired service and digital exclusion, and asks …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
As a person affected by Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. 1. In order to maintain internet access after moving home in 2011 we were obliged to exchange our old wired modem for the newer style « livebox ». Being concerned about RF & WIFI radiation we always used ethernet cable to connect the pc to the new modem in order to avoid using WIFI. At around the same time we also changed to a newer pc (with WIFI capability) and continued to use ethernet cable to connect it to the « livebox ». Soon after arriving at the new home I began to experience unprovoked episodes of fearfulness. These episodes occurred at all times of the day and night. By chance we discovered that even though we used ethernet cable for internet access the « livebox » default setting was emitting WIFI. Having disabled the « livebox » WIFI we hoped that the episodes of fearfulness would end. However this was not the case. Researching further we discovered that the new pc’s default setting was also enabling WIFI. Having also disabled the pc WIFI the unpleasant episodes of fearfulness ended. 2. Having lost our fixed telephone due to storm damage in 2023 we bought a mobile telephone to replace it. This phone causes a warm tingling sensation in the skin, so is kept in a far corner of the house – rendering it useless for receiving calls since the telephone system permits insufficient time for us to access it before it cuts to voicemail. Now that daily life is ruled by smartphone access to almost everything we find ourselves excluded. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed not only by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health. The experiences of individuals and families who report being affected have been thus far ignored and belittled. These experiences must be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals, families, health care providers, independent researchers, with an opportunity to finally be heard on this critical public health issue.
