Describes years of insomnia beginning in college and reports rapid improvement after using devices intend…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I suffered incurable insomnia for numerous years. This began when I left for college and we had the new crazy high speed internet in the dorms. I saw Dr after Dr; there was nothing wrong with me. The only thing that worked were narcotic drugs. Once I chose to mitigate EMF in my home (well over a decade later), with scalar devices (just for general purposes, not to cure anything), my insomnia cured itself in two days.

Reports diagnosed electromagnetic hypersensitivity, housebound living and wired technology use, questions…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I was diagnosed with electromagnetic Hypersensitivity about seven years ago. My symptoms were itching. Dry eye. Headaches. Brain fog. I was unable to ride in cars Due to their Dirty energy And exposure to. Wi Fi capabilities. My house Now uses. Incandescent lighting. No wireless capabilities. I use Ethernet to connect to my computer.. People are not allowed to use Their cell phones in the home. I had to give up driving. And all social activities outside the home. Currently I go to. A grocery store once a week for about 15 minutes. I am primarily housebound and have had to give up all. Social activities. The FCC is using. Research. That took place in the 1990s. And has been. Corrupted by. Technology companies. I appreciate your looking into this significant problem. As I have had several friends who have had tumors operated on. I currently have a tumor on my. Adrenal gland. It appears to be benign. If you look at the. Research By the government, that costs $25 million years ago. You can see The peer reviewed results. That was done on mice and rats. Reports sleep, memory and cardiac symptoms associated with towers, smart meters and electrical line noise…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I have been severely affected by cell tower radiation, smart meter RF radiation and line noise (voltage transients and harmonics from switched mode power supplies), cell phone radiation, LED lights, and essentially anything that emits a PULSED EMF. Cell tower installed 1000 ft from my home. I didn't know it because it was hidden by trees. But suddenly, I wasn't sleeping so well. A year later, I discovered the cell tower but made no association between my poorer sleep and the tower. Yet when I'd visit my parents, who lived where, at the time, there was essentially no cell reception, I slept well again. In 2012, I finally realized that the tower was the likely cause of my poorer sleep. The other troubling thing was, the year the cell tower was installed, the number of insects dropped by about 1/3. All insects, not just some types. I wondered about it, but thought it might be some sort of cyclical or climatic thing. But the populations never recovered. Twelve years later, smart meters were installed. The next year, the insect population was reduced to 1/3 of what it had been pre-cell-tower. The insects never recovered. Four years later, there were hardly even any beetles. They seem to have been the one bug that was more resilient or unaffected than the others. Then, at my parents' home, where I'd always slept really well, I had near-total insomnia. I tossed and turned all night. I didn't know why. My only speculation was that it must be emotional (don't we all go to that when something is unexplained?), though I'd no idea what that might be. Year after year after year, I could not sleep and would go home completely worn out. Then I learned that a PLC meter had been installed on their home in January of the year I became unable to sleep. We installed a whole-house dirty electricity filter and I had no more problems. The smart meters were installed in my neighborhood in 2012. That completely changed my life. This wasn't the poor sleep from the cell tower. This was all-encompassing: terrible, unrestful sleep; transient memory loss; severe fatigue; heart palpitations. There's so much more I could recount, but this gives you a glimpse into what happens to a not unsignificant proportion of the population.

Reports a mother's impaired walking and loss of travel freedom attributed to cell-tower exposure.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
My mother was severely impacted traveling on a route with cell towers. She could not walk without assistance and impaired. Over time it was obvious it was the cell tower pulsed microwave radiation impacting her. She could not longer freely travel.

Describes insomnia and headaches after smart-meter installation, perceived improvement with meter replace…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I've been around computers and electronics since 1977, starting with mainframe computers and the old-fashioned tube displays. That was my job until 2003 when I retired. I'm always somebody who wants to try new things when they come out. At one time I had three microwaves in my kitchen, or so I could cook three different items at the same time and have a full course meal come out in 30 minutes. When I started to work from home, I always asked for the fastest modem that was possible from my work. When the iPhone came out in 2007, I bought one and used it incessantly. I made the comment to myself this may cause me problems later on, but I would deal with that then, because right now it was wonderful. In 2012, I was living in my condo in Port Hueneme, California, called Surfside IV. I was on the second of three floors at the end of the building. In March, the electric company installed seven smart electric meters in the utility room that was directly underneath my master bedroom. underneath a closet. In May, I noticed that whenever I walked back to the master bedroom, I tended to get a headache for about two weeks. My neighbor downstairs reported the same thing. I now believe this is when they were testing the smart meters. I was excited for them to be activated so that I could monitor my electrical usage by the hour. Once a month I would call asking when they were going to be fully activated. About three weeks into September, I called and was notified that they were activated at the beginning of September. Starting around the beginning of September, my sleep had gone from nine hours a day to 4 1/2 hours a day. I thought I had just a bad bout of insomnia. I had no idea that the smart meters had been turned on. I'm fairly smart, but with my lack of sleep, it took me a year to figure out what to do. I got four of the 7 smart meters replaced with manual. I replaced my wireless phones with wired, and I switched to Ethernet cords instead of wireless for my computer. This made a small improvement. The final step was to construct a Faraday cage made out of aluminum screening that I constructed around my mattress on my platform bed, with one side opening up for me to get in and out, and the mattress inside. This reduced the reading on my meter to -65 DB, which is the most it would go to. At times, the cage would get tears in it and I found that if the reading went over -60 DB my sleep would deteriorate to six hours. This happened several times, so it was a multiple experiment that was collaborated. I found that if I was in an area that had -35 dB or greater, that within a half an hour I would feel very nervous and my sleep would be affected that night. I found that being in meeting rooms with other people that had cell phones, even though there was Wi-Fi in the building, that if I had everybody turn their cell phones off that the radiation was reduced by 90% most times. In other words, having cell phones on, in close proximity to me in a group, was much stronger than the Wi-Fi in the building. In a movie theater, I would have to go to a far corner, to be away from being in the middle of the group of people. In 2018 and in 2019, I was in the hospital. I had to be given drugs to help me get any sleep at all. In 2024 I was in the hospital for over three weeks and with opiates in me, I still had trouble sleeping more than two hours a night. I finally relented and let them give me Ambien, which allowed me to sleep six hours. I ordered an EMF blocking single pup tent that is designed to be used on motel beds. We installed that on my hospital bed and I was able to sleep six hours with no Ambien. In 2026, I was in the hospital again and used the same pup tent in both the emergency room and in the hospital, to good effect. I now find that I need to be in an area with no bars on my cell phone and no Wi-Fi hotspot around me to be able to sleep good.

Reports possible phone-related sensory and digestive symptoms and proposes systematic studies of RF effec…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Comment on: Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure (HHS–OASH–2026–0397) Intro: The purpose of this comment is to both share my experiences and suggest new RF/EMF research priorities. Personal experiences: I have experienced several health effects that may be tied to mobile phone usage. While using a 4g phone to connect to the Internet I have experienced the following: numbness in the fingers of each hand, digestive disturbances after holding the phone near my abdominal area for extended periods of time, a sensation of warm-tingling in my thigh and groin area when the phone was set on automatic update and carried in my front pocket, and irritability at times following using the device. I have also noticed irritability in others such as family members or coworkers after device use. I believe the effects I have experienced personally or noticed in others have a biological basis and aren't just psychosomatic. Future research: I have an advanced biology degree and have been interested in following the RF/EMF debate for years. I am aware that some research suggests no RF/EMF health effects. However, other research has concluded there are enough measurable health effects to warrant additional studies (1,2,3). I would like to suggest a research area that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) may not have considered. I believe HHS funding of the research area below would greatly advance our understanding of RF/EMF health effects. Research Priority 1: Effects of RF/EMF on the Human Microbiome. Background: The human Microbiome is a mixture of body inhabiting microorganisms. These microorganisms outnumber human cells by a factor of 10 and a factor of 150 when comparing the number of bacterial genes to human genes (4). The Microbiome has and still is being researched to understand its influence on disease states, mental health, intelligence, and other behaviors (5,6,7). Research has shown RF/EMF fields can also exert influence on bacterial growth characteristics, gene expression and gut metabolite formation (8,9). Thus, RF/EMF interactions with the human Microbiome may influence human health, intelligence, mental illness, and other behaviors. Areas for study: It would be helpful to: I. Systematically research and catalog changes in gene expression when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Especially gene expression of gut microbes.) Ii. Systematically research and catalog any epigenetic changes that occur when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Studying the epigenetic changes may also allow a way to determine past exposures to RF/EMF fields.) Iii. Systematically research and catalog metabolite alterations when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Especially any metabolites that would influence mental or physical health.) Reports family tinnitus, sleep and fatigue changes after a nearby tower appeared while acknowledging caus…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public and a parent. With the proliferation of 5G towers across the country, without public input or feedback, we suddenly found ourselves living with a large tower across the street from our home. After a few months, I noticed my tinnitus getting worse within the house, while my wife's sleep patterns became more erratic and she was waking up much more in the night and feeling less rested in the morning. She said it wasn't because she was suddenly worrying about things more. My daughter also began frequently complaining how tired she was in the morning even after a full night's sleep. Her bedroom sits in direct line of sight with the tower across the street. Though all these events don't prove 5G is causing them, the timing is significant and many others across the country have experienced similar things and even much worse things. Is it all in our heads? The research the FCC is relying on is outdated. Meanwhile, much new research suggests continuous exposure to non-ionizing radiation can, in fact, be harmful. HHS needs to consider all relevant, current data and commission new studies. Nothing less than the health and well-being of all of us is at stake as this technology continues to expand unbounded with almost no controls, and almost no concern for public health. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

Reports headaches, insomnia and cognitive symptoms resolving after home Wi-Fi removal, argues for a micro…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
1. & 2. I am responding as: an individual 3a. Type of wireless or RF/EMF sources involved (e.g., mobile phones, Wi-Fi, smart meters…)WiFi 3b. Nature, duration, frequency, and approximate timing (e.g., years):WiFi in house for 2 years 3c. Adverse health effect(s) experienced:Headaches, Insomnia, Restlessness, Brain Fog, Dizziness 3d. Time from first exposure to first appearance of adverse health effects; and did a change in exposure coincide with the onset of adverse effects:The adverse health effects were minor at first and I wasn't sure of the cause. But the symptoms worsened over time until when day the WiFi broke and we were without it for many days, and I realised I felt better not having it around me and I slept better. That is when I got informed about WiFi and microwave radiation and had an EMF survey done in my home. 3e. Was medical evaluation or treatment sought? (Optionally:) Was there a diagnosis?Treatments were sought, but the best move was getting rid of the WiFi in my immediate environment. 3f. Were steps taken to reduce or eliminate exposure, and were there subsequent changes in the effects?Yes, as stated above in 3d. Once WiFi was removed, my symptoms went away. 3g. Any supporting documentation? This includes Scientific Reports, exposure measurements, or other relevant information:Yes, I had two EMF studies done of my home. One before and one after mitigation. Additional Details you would like to share about your experiences of adverse health effects you believe to be associated with exposure to wireless radiation or EMF's:If you don't believe that microwave radiation is harmful, despite many studies (incl long-term) that have proved it, just look at the statistics for Brain Glioma cancer. A Glioma is ONLY caused by one thing: microwave radiation. Prior to 1996, before people brought microwaves into their homes and open air, brain Gliomas represented 0% of the population. Now, there are millions of people with Glioma cancers (studies vary). It's obvious that the rise in this type of cancer is specifically due to the rise in microwave radiation exposure. B1a. Sources you experience as causing you Adverse Effects:Microwave radiation, Bluetooth, Solar Panels B1b. Sources you can sense, but don't seem to harm you:I can use a wireless device for a short time and not necessarily feel hurt immediately; it seems to be more of a cumulative effect. B1c. Sources you can use without sensing or being harmed: B1d. Sources that seem to provide benefit (i.e., electrotherapy):FIR B2a. Health conditions you think may contribute to your sensitivity to EMFs including wireless:Neuroborreliosis, Thyroid disease B2b. Health conditions you don't necessarily associate with your sensitivity to EMFs including wireless, but might be relevant: B3. For each subquestion please list up to 5 drugs or therapies or home remedies (if any) B3a. That you recommend, as they helped you tolerate or recover from EMF exposure:Regular internal cleanses, hydration, increase oxygenation (exercise) and breathwork, good nutrition/wholesome foods, meditation, regulating minerals, disconnecting or blocking sources of radiation in home, being out in nature. B3b. That you recommend, but you’re not positive that they help:I am positive all my recommendations help. B3c. That helped you but you don’t recommend. (e.g., the benefit did not last long or the side effects were too harmful):n/a B3d. Treatments that had no effect:n/a B3e. Treatments that made your sensitivity worse:55-64 B4. What is your age range?55-64 B5. What year did you become aware of your sensitivity to wireless radiation or electromagnetic fields?2014 B6. What country, state, province, or major city were you living in when you first noticed your sensitivity to wireless or electromagnetic fields?United Kingdom
