A clinical social worker describes 14 years of EHS with sleep, skin and cardiac symptoms and life restric…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
HHS Public Comment — Docket HHS-OASH-2026-0397 Questions 2, 3, 5–13, 15–18 I submit this comment as an individual with approximately 14 years of lived experience with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS/EMR-S) and as a licensed clinical social worker. Q2–3: Personal Experience and Health Effects For approximately 14 years, I have experienced symptoms associated with electromagnetic exposure, including sleep disruption and inability to sleep, burning skin, skin redness and mottling, intense pressure around my head as though it were in a vice, squeezing sensations in my chest, heartbeats that feel erratic, and difficulty concentrating. These experiences have affected my sleep, ability to use my home, work, finances, independence, and daily life. At times, I have felt driven to sleep in my car rather than remain in an environment where I was experiencing symptoms. These are significant effects on my life, not abstract concerns. HHS should take reports of EHS seriously, investigate symptoms under real-world exposure conditions, and provide practical assistance to affected individuals. Q5–8, 12–13, 15–16: Standards, Exposure, and Research Independently review whether current exposure standards adequately address long-term and cumulative exposure, real-world conditions, and potentially susceptible individuals. Compliance with existing limits should not automatically end investigation of reported symptoms. Research should evaluate multiple simultaneous sources, exposure patterns over time, and conditions in occupied homes and everyday environments. Include the National Toxicology Program's radiofrequency studies and the Ramazzini Institute study in a transparent evaluation of the evidence. Identify research gaps and prioritize independent research into EHS and practical exposure-reduction options. Q9–11(g): Disclosure, Surveillance, and EHS Residents deserve understandable information about wireless sources in or near their homes, including their characteristics and operating patterns. HHS should support privacy-protective reporting of symptoms and exposure circumstances and explicitly consider people with EHS among populations who may uniquely experience adverse effects. URGENT: SMART METERS AND INVOLUNTARY EXPOSURE Communication-enabled utility meters deserve specific, urgent attention. They may be installed on or immediately adjacent to homes, leaving residents little control over exposure. Because utilities are essential services, people may face fees, barriers, or penalties for requesting an alternative. For people with EHS, this can mean having a wireless transmitter at home without a meaningful ability to opt out. HHS should investigate meter transmission characteristics, real-world indoor exposure, placement near occupied rooms, and cumulative exposure alongside other wireless sources. Work with utility regulators to promote transparent disclosure, feasible non-wireless alternatives, fair accommodations, and protection against unreasonable fees or loss of essential service. This lack of choice requires action now, not research alone. EVERYDAY PRODUCTS AND THE RISK OF SOCIAL EXCLUSION The problem extends beyond utility meters. Cars, appliances, and an increasing range of everyday products incorporate microprocessors, electronic circuitry, and wireless technologies that people with EHS may have difficulty tolerating. As wireless technology becomes embedded in more necessities, finding usable products can become increasingly difficult and expensive. People may face the frightening prospect of being progressively pushed out of ordinary social life because transportation, household equipment, housing, and other necessities become inaccessible. What are people with EHS supposed to do as everyday life becomes harder to access? HHS should investigate these barriers and promote transparent product information, practical accommodations, and affordable alternatives. People should not be expected to withdraw from society or bear the entire burden of finding workable options themselves. Q14, Q17–18: Environmental Effects, Coordination, and Accountability Coordinate among FDA, NIH, CDC, and relevant regulators. Examine environmental effects and establish clear responsibility for follow-up. Research and standard-setting must be transparent and independent, with safeguards against conflicts of interest, regulatory capture, and undue industry influence. After approximately 14 years of living with these effects, I am asking for more than acknowledgment that further research is needed. People experiencing EHS need practical help now, alongside independent research and meaningful protections. No one should have to choose between essential services and a reasonable opportunity to reduce unwanted exposure. Please treat EHS as an urgent public-health, accessibility, accommodation, and consumer-protection issue.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
We have our entire home hardwired to avoid wifi. I am very sensitive to EMF's. I get bad headaches, severe ear ringing, insomnia, a bad feeling in my head, and my eyes will hurt when exposed to this radiation. I have had problems with cellphones. My hand, wrist, and arm will become numb when using my cellphone. I bought a new Samsung S25 cellphone about 2 yrs ago and had to return it due to severe effects from this cellphone. I developed breast cancer when I worked at a hospital with many cells on their roof. Many nurses got cancer working there. I also became very ill when visiting Las Vegas and walking the street with the 5G small cells on every corner. I developed a severe headache and nose bleed from this. My father got very sick when a cell tower was installed close to his senior apartment building. He developed lymphocytic leukemia, severe insomnia, and horrible headaches from this radiation. The readings were sky high on my EMF meter when I took a reading in his apartment. Please regulate cellphones as my EMF meter registers high readings from my husband's and my cellphone. We havea cell tower 1 mile from our home. I cannot walk near there without bad symptoms.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a , parent, myself, healthcare professional, researcher, advocate, concerned member of the public, or other]. wireless radiation has affected me significantly and also i am concerned about my child, and entire family that I care about. The continues exposure from everywhere is unjust since there is no escape from it. I am very signifantly sensitive to is and the measures that I am taking are not enough. I am buying expensive clothes and blankets to shield myself but I am still significantly affected. It's not right that my life became a hell now without my consent and ability to opt out. The exposure is crazy and new towers continue to grow everywhere. This needs to stop and it is unlawful because it affects everyone without asking for acceptance. I do not consent and do not accept being continuously exposed to this radiation. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

The commenter attributes seizures and lasting brain injury to Bluetooth hearing aids, reports subsequent …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Injured party: Anthony Stroup Responsible party: Widex – USA Point of sale: Cory Workman / Community Hearing Center Estes Park, CO. 80517 Date of seizure hospitalization’s: 1/26/2023, 9/9/2023, 12/20/2023 have led to permanent brain damage, with multiple injuries and new mental conditions. To Whom it may concern, PRIOR TO BEING FITTED WITH BLUETOOTH HEARING AIDS, I WAS MENTALLY FIT, AND PHYSICALLY ABLE TO PERFORM AT A HIGH LEVEL OF ABILITIES, CAPABLE TO DOING A NUMBER OF TYPES OF EMPLOYMENT. TODAY IT IS A STRUGGLE TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE DAY OR ACHIEVE A TINY FRACTION OF DAILY TASK'S. As a result of this Bluetooth Wireless product and manufacturer negligence, In 2023, my life was forever changed due to a brain injury causing massive damages. The physical and emotional toll has been devastating for myself and my wife. While wearing your product in 2023, I went to ER 4 times, 3 times by EMS, and 2 times in Intensive Care. I was fitted with a pair of Widex, Moment Sheer 220’s, and given no forewarning of the known risks of this product and not given any MSDS information. Following the use of these Widex ITC BT hearing aids I suddenly began to suffer silent seizures and Status Epilepticus grand mal seizures leading to brain damage. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23676765/ https://www.notebookcheck.net/250-scientists-sign-petition-warning-of-dangers-posed-by-AirPods-other-wireless-devices.413886.0.html |The failure to forewarn of these dangers has destroyed the lives and my wife and I, and causes unbearable misery since then and continues to do so, taking its toll on myself and my Wife as well. Studies on the effects of EMW’s on epileptic seizures have been done dating back to 2013 and beyond. The World Health Organization and scientists around the world have been sounding the alarm since 2009. It took my wife about 2 minutes to do an internet search and discover studies and information indicating that the BT Hearing Aids are the reason I’ve been having epileptic episodes and seizures. Yet I was not forewarned in the least, nor was I given any MSDS information, Which Widex tells me doesn’t exist for this product. I am now EMF sensitive to Wi-Fi /5G/Bluetooth etc. I cannot sleep under these EMF’s without being deathly ill when I wake up. Wi-Fi is all around me and I cannot escape exposure. This now triggers silent seizures that make my life a living hell. Many days have been spent non-functional and in extreme misery. I end each day terrified of what I will have to endure the next morning/day, then the misery begins. I open my eyes and begin my medication needs, while the hypertension grows and that triggers epilepsy and silent seizures. Nausea from my gut to my throat, dizziness and so much more, destroying all quality of life and replaced with extreme misery. The brain damage/Injury I have suffered from using Bluetooth hearing aids make living in today's world unbearable, and a constant attack on my well-being and quality of life. I lost my job when my boss learned these hearing aids had been causing me to have seizures. With that I lost a $500,000.00 life insurance policy. I have been evaluated by the Social Security Administration and found totally disabled and unfit to handle my own finances. Below you will find a summary of the damages to date: As a result of this using this product, I have incurred the following damages: Hospital / Medical ~ $160,000.00 Follow Up Care (Lifelong) Brain Injury/Damage Electromagnetic Sensitivity (ES) & Hypertension (EMH) – Uncontrolled Epilepsy Memory Loss Loss of recall & focal abilities Depression Lost Wages Lost Life Insurance – $500,000.00 Loss of hearing Pain and Suffering Loss of quality of life This wireless product has shown to cause harm. Manufacturer negligence has forever changed my life, and their product is a direct cause of my injuries, pain and suffering not to mention two List of Documentation • Deposition letter from a specialist Doctor and world class research center. (Dr. Elizabeth Seymour at The Environmental Health Center of Dallas) • Brain Scans from Amen Clinics , The world's largest database of functional brain scans, specifically using SPECT imaging, and uses this data to understand how people think, feel, and behave. • Moment Sheer 220 product serial number • Research data from 2013 indicating the danger of your products, and related information. • Hospital/Medical Bills (UBO4’s) • Social Security Administration Proof of Disability/Benefits. • Employment Termination papers from MDC Holdings Inc. (Richmond American Homes) This is a summary and not a comprehensive list of pain and suffering.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Please research the connection between mold toxicity and mycotoxins with electromagnetic frequency. My daughter was extremely sensitive to EMF after she was exposed to a moldy building for 5 days and tested high for mycotoxins in her body. There seems to be a strong connection between the two.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
The federal guidelines that are used to determine the safety limits for exposure to wireless radiation are decades old and have not kept pace with the rapid expansion of wireless technology or the growing body of scientific research raising concerns about its effects on human health and the environment.  We must have more independent and rigorous transparent research for wireless radiation- particularly in populations such as children and the elderly.  Most of the outlined research was done 10-15 years ago- which is outdated especially since the phones and the internet have ramped up their radiation outputs. But looking at what has been already researched, I found one study which shows DNA strand damage from "industry accepted radiation levels".  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31138035/ There has been previous research into how EMF disrupts the immune system. I am concerned about this. More research is needed. I myself get severe headaches due to my sensitivity to the electromagnetic radiation.  I avoid staying near cell towers because of these headaches. When not near the towers,  I am headache free.   Thank you for finally looking into more up-to-date research so that others can also benefit.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Thank you for this opportunity to speak, my name is Karen Rose, live in Myrtle Point area of southwest Oregon. I have cell tower behind my house about 3000ft or less, it is 5G now, T Mobile has 4 levels of antennae on it and it is permanently damaging my health. I have lived here 7 yrs, 2-3G, then to 4G, and now to 5G and my health has continuously become more and more damaged. Symptoms daily are: vision loss, dizziness and extreme nausea, severe tinnitus, severe hair loss, gastrointestinal pain and loss of digestion and appetite, insomnia, agitation and noise in head with pressure behind eyes and back of neck severe at times, tremors and weakness, CT scan shows two nodules right parietal lobe of brain, cervical spinal fluid leaks with permanent damage to back of head from "sinking brain", severe sleepiness with breathing difficulty for hours on end, severe adverse reactions to all medications, must get through all pains on my own, vertigo, neck, lower back pain and severe degeneration of spine, and many more permanent symptoms that will no longer disappear. I have suffered with Electro-sensitivity for 15 years and mast cell activation (chemical sensitivity) for 40 yrs. I also have severe rashes, have lost all my muscle mass, etc. I have asked T Mobile to please divert antenna away from direction of my house they won't do it. I am not asking to remove the tower as we all need cell phones for emergencies, just please, myself and 3 other neighbors on same property are situated too close to tower (our houses were there first before tower) are so very chronically and critically sick from 5G tower, I plead for help, can't move, nowhere to go, can't afford. My email is krose@kittymail.com.

The commenter reports EMF sensitivity, sleeping in remote areas and neurological symptoms, proposes mitoc…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I became EMF sensitive in 2015 while living in San Francisco. I drastically had to adjust my life, and now must sleep/live in the woods to maintain my health. As long as I sleep in low/no EMF environments, my body is able to recharge enough to still occasionally work and visit in cities. However, sleeping in EMF hot zones, surrounded by Wi-Fi, towers, routers, etc, drains my mitochondria and inhibits the body’s nightly rejuvenation, leading to me feeling completely drained, exhausted, and suffering chronic fatigue, digestive problems, migraines, brain fog, and symptoms of fibromyalgia. I’ve studied this subject for over a decade, and highly recommended Arthur Firstenberg’s book “The History of Electricity,” for an educational deep dive, and the documentary “Beings of Frequency.” Our biology is not solely regulated by chemical processes- light (including non visible) is a vital component, and the synthetic non-native EMF light depletes our cellular health drastically. Honestly this elephant in the room in the underlying catalyst for so many chronic health conditions in the US. Please stop endorsing more 5g, Starlinks, wireless communications, SMART everything. It’s literally killing people’s health, and sometimes their lives. Please preserve off grid, virgin spaces, and please invest in EMF safe places, towns, housing, etc. As a refugee, we need safe places to exist.

The commenter reports diagnosed Wi-Fi or electronic sensitivity, persistent ear noise and chest tightness…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
15 years ago I was diagnosed as having "wifi [or electronic] sensitivity" . My ears have frequency shifting white noise that is not diagnosed as tinnitus. Some days, especially when a storm is coming , it becomes unmanageable &relentless. Going to sleep is my only remedy. I took a sailing course &went far out into the Gulf waters away from land , the noise for the first time in 25 years STOPPED , until we got close to land again when it immediately returned. For the past 4 years I traveled the U.S. with a RV/ 17,000 miles. In the final year of travel, I would make way to drive AROUND major cities ... as it became apparent while approaching large hubs, and without visual of a tower approaching, my chest would tighten &I would have to pull off the interstate... when feeling "better" to proceed down the road , the culprit would appear on the horizon: large communication towers on the outskirts of cities : the ones with huge white circular discs seemingly would give me what I can only describe as a sudden onset pseudo heart attack. I had to quit driving anywhere near these towers &now I do not travel , for many reasons...but those towers are the main reason for staying off the roads near cities. I am thankful someone is looking into this.
