Electromagnetic sensitivity

Hello, I would like to very quickly and briefly mention my experience of being electrosensitive. I might not get another chance to do so. Below is a short summary history of my ES / EHS and please see attached a copy of a slightly extended version. Please ignore the sentence on medical reports, thank you. My experience over the years has a lot of similarities to other people when it comes to ES: stigma, isolation, ridicule, scepticism, disbelief… and so on. The most frustrating is a wide belief that it is my mental health and only an imaginary problem. I lost my home of 24½ years at Cove, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK due to the lack of help and understanding of my electro-sensitivity. In 2008 new neighbours brought wireless technology to the building (a block of 4 properties, 2 upper and 2 ground floor maisonettes). This was the first time that such technology was brought to the building and their impact on me was immediate and devastating. The worst main debilitating effect on me is very severe burning pain to my head and scalp that penetrates deep into it (blanket cover). Other burning pain is clusters of very hot burning needles shooting through me at phenomenal lightening speeds with – again – my scalp being the most sensitive area. The very first symptom to appear in June 2008 was a high-pitched whine / whistling emanating from across the central area of my brain. It is very loud, still there, can and does become elevated and it is not tinnitus. I also have other effects on me that I still suffer from. Over the years I have always noticed that whenever there are descriptions of symptoms of electro-sensitivity, only headaches are listed. Not once have I seen listed and described what I’ve mentioned above. Due to the unbearable suffering that I have had to endure (2008 – 2017), I did suffer from headaches from time-to-time because of insomnia with the lack of sleep, brought on by the continuous radiation exposure. To cut a long story short, it all became very messy with conflicts with the neighbours, all areas of my life in free fall and spiralling downwards, me being institutionalised for 7 consecutive weeks without my consent and it was against my will, having to fight off being forced to take toxic medications (anti-psychotic drugs for at least six months), 3 sinister court cases, constant potential homelessness… to name and list just a fraction of it all. My professional career was also completely ruined early on. I enjoyed the work that I did and devastated that it was cruelly taken away from me - and the lost income. Had my finances permitted, I would have attempted to sue the government. The two local politicians that I went to see at different times regarding my plight and suffering, just simply did not want to know about it. Over the years, I have compiled a more detailed summary of my ES and suffering and I’m also putting together a more detailed break down of each area and stages of what happened (separate from the summary). This includes spending £10,000.00 on shielding the property from the neighbours wireless devices' (wi-fi, DECT phones etc) radiation between October 2009 and February 2010. I also have available a number of official medical reports from the hospital professionals (including psychiatrists) that oversaw my case while I was institutionalised. Ever since this happened to me in 2008 it has been like living in a nightmare dream world, except that I am fully awake – and my nightmare journey continues relentlessly with no end in sight. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am someone who is sensitive to EMF, experiencing tinnitus, headaches, brain fog, and fatigue. It is incredibly frustrating that this is not more widely understood, as I know many people who suffer and it is getting harder & harder to find spaces that provide relief. It is unfathomable that we are already moving into 6G without a scientific understanding of the health effects of all the previous G's. Our children are experiencing neurological & mental health issues at alarming & increasing levels. To not investigate how the effects of the ubiquitous EMF could be contributing to this is gross neglect of a huge public health concern. Please do the right thing & conduct rigorous research that cannot be tainted by stakeholders in wireless communication before allowing it to go any further. Thank you.

Dear Department of Health and human services, The UK government has found conclusive evidence that vulnerable populations (children, sick, and elderly) are the most susceptible to having negative effects of being within 600 m of cell phone towers and power lines. Leukemia, and other developmental impairments are linked to the substantial increase of 24/7 EMF and RF exposure. In most urban areas, cell towers are within 600 m of each other- compounding the EMF pollution. The UK has regulations on cell phone and power companies on the proximity and amount of towers that emit EMF and RF for the safe guard of their most vulnerable populations. The research that is relied upon by cellphone and power companies often benefit their profit margins as well as commuting their responsibilities and risks of their operations to other entities or pollution centers. The classic, “nothing to see here” and “look a that a way” tactic of purely self preserving opportunists. Yet, research that has shown that EMF and or RF pollution have negligible impacts on people’s health, growth, development, and resilience; firstly, do not take into account Quality of Life and secondly, are taken from research samples of healthy, 18-35 year old, military strong men. The research in favor of confident unregulated EMF and RF fail to include women, children, infirm, autoimmune, mentally ill, elderly, and other less predictable populations in our country. Reminding the Department of Health and Human Services of their role to protect the health of all humans in our great nation, not simply the strong and resilient, would be patronizing. Instead, I have faith that by the simple request for feedback on this matter is an absolute testament to the DHHS’s commitment to the “least among us”. Personally, my mom (a disabled veteran) suffers from severe sensitivity to EMF and RF pollution. It is such that she cannot think clearly with any device or tower near by. She lives in a constant state of vague distress. She’s Hispanic and she may literally be the first one on our family to be exposed to EMF and RF pollution. My husband and I have experienced terrible reactions to living within 100m of a new 5G tower, including hallucinations and mood disturbances. Pollinators and birds lose their ability to navigate. Children retain their primitive reflexes and our already vulnerable elderly have reduced neuroplasticity. It would be important to take care of these people versus protecting Cell phone and power companies bottom line. Thank you for your time and consideration.

MY NEIGHBORS AND ANIMALS ARE DYING I am SICK. My family members have been SICK SINCE more than a hundred UNREGULATED TOWERS WENT LIVE over our community. This has been a challenge for me to get anyone to help in my community. I wanted to share my story in hopes of helping others. My story is one of many in Terrebonne Parish. After multiple (9) 300-foot 5G towers were put over our homes, four 300-foot 5G towers were put over my home and animal sanctuary, and four 300-foot towers were put over my office. At the same time, smart meters were put on my home, along with those of every other Entergy customer. I began getting sick, very sick. It began in my petting area with heart palpitations, headaches, vomiting, ringing in my ears, confusion, bleeding gums, insomnia, nightmares, dizziness, anxiety, ears buzzing 24 hours a day, severe fatigue, muscle weakness, and more. I have now been diagnosed with radiation syndrome / EHS (electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome) caused by extreme exposure to radiation. Many residents are experiencing similar symptoms. Countless children are now suffering. Being a very healthy person my whole life, this has been a life-changing situation. I am usually the one helping others; now I need your help. I never thought this could happen until I was forced to face it by becoming sick. I'm not sure where this illness will take me. However, I must do all I can to protect my family and my community. Seven neighbors on my street and friends have died after the towers went live over their homes. Many other residents are also sick. My community is surrounded by towers that have no regulatory testing information, nor does our planning department ask for it, citing the FCC's outdated RF radiation guidelines. I became certified in RF radiation testing. I now test the towers and smart meters. I can confirm that the EMF (electromagnetic frequency) / RF (radio frequency) radiation being emitted is extreme for every single product, tower, and smart device I have tested. has been a fight to protect my family, my community, and myself, with EVERYONE CITING THE FCC'S OUTDATED RF RADIATION GUIDELINES. I had to learn all I could about this to protect my health and theirs. I've had to turn my home, where I have lived for 28 years, into an EMF-safe house (until I sell it), as well as my barn, which is surrounded by EMF material and protection. My bed is covered with EMF protection as well due to the radiation levels in my home. I now have to wear protective clothing all day. Leaving my safe area means becoming exposed due to the unbridled towers around me. I am a very private person. This is not easy to share, but if I do not ask for help now, many more innocent people will be sick, or they will die like my neighbors, my friends, and my animals. Since the towers went live, six of my horses have died instantly under the towers. All of my little animals have died. My 200-pound tortoises started going blind. I'm not sure where the daily radiation exposure will take me, so I thought now is the best time to ask for your help in making a change. THE FCC MUST REGULATE THE RADIATION, OR THE DEATH & DESTRUCTION WILL NEVER END. Technology is safe only if it is REGULATED.

As a very concerned mother and now grand-mother and Holistic Health Care Advocate for family, friends and many healing groups I learned already as a young person about all good and harmful Earth Earth radiations. A topic well known to professionals and families in Germany for decades but sadly ignored and even villified and fought over here! Family members and I have always been very sensitive to these radiations, even leading to cancer which had been diagnosed and confirmed by their doctors. I would have a constant headache 24/7 right away and even receive electric shocks by just holding a cell phone--already before the more intense 4G and 5G Smart phones and in addition to those smart Meters and huge cell towers were built!! My search was therefore focused on finding protection from these harmful rays, spending ( investing) initially over $4,000 to protect my home, and so I was always led to more and more inventors who offered devices which could protect us personally from these rays. But people are being kept so ignorant over here and many get so sick and have to suffer needlessly because all their specialists cannot find the cause. Friends of mine here in Co. and in Santa Fe were on their death bed and were given up when they read the book by Arthur Firstenberg which helped them improve but not to full recovery. So, please, do not just follow the money because technology can be created for a higher expense! So I urge you to establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

Cela a commencé avec la pose d’un compteur communicant à mon domicile en 2019. Dès l’installation de cet appareil, j’ai immédiatement ressenti des sons puissants et stridents à l’intérieur de mon cerveau. Ces derniers m’interdisent l’accès au repos le plus élémentaire, annihilent toute capacité de concentration, me coupent de mon activité professionnelle et me plongent dans un brouillard mental. J'ai donc pris conscience d'une cause électromagnétique. À ce jour, un médecin spécialiste en pathologie environnementale, ainsi que quatre autres praticiens de médecine générale et spécialisée, ont formellement diagnostiqué mon état et reconnu l’impact direct de ce facteur électromagnétique sur mon organisme, ainsi que la chimico-sensibilité. Mon domicile est par ailleurs entouré par plusieurs antennes-relais de téléphonie mobile et de Wi-fi des voisins. À cette agression invisible s’ajoute une nuisance mécanique et acoustique : juste au-dessus de ma tête, dans les combles de mon immeuble, est installée une imposante ventilation mécanique contrôlée (VMC) collective. Cette machinerie lourde fonctionne en continu et génère des infrasons permanents qui traversent les structures. Ces basses fréquences inaudibles mais hautement perceptibles par le système nerveux finissent littéralement par me « gangrener ». Lorsque je m’éloigne de mon domicile pendant plusieurs jours, l'impact direct du son de la VMC s'estompe après plusieurs jours. Pour autant, les autres perturbations cérébrales persistent, comparable à une radio brouillée. Ce phénomène ne me quitte jamais. Ma sensibilité est devenue telle que lorsque je me trouve à proximité de lignes électriques extérieures, je l’entends circuler. Les champs électromagnétiques de basse et haute fréquence sont devenus pour moi des agressions physiques, qui dérèglent mon système neurologique, mon rythme cardiaque, mon système digestif, m’épuisent. Cette hypersensibilité s’inscrit dans un tableau clinique évolutif. Depuis l'an 2000, je vis avec des douleurs diffuses, paralysantes et handicapantes, sans cause connue. Au cours des années 2022 et 2023, mon corps a franchi un nouveau seuil de rupture en développant des réactions cutanées matérialisant l'inflammation interne permanente de mon organisme face aux agressions de mon environnement. Cela ne s'arrête jamais. Si cinq médecins attestent la composante électromagnétique, les institutions officielles, la médecine française et l'ANSES (Agence nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l'alimentation, de l'environnement et du travail) refusent le lien de causalité direct entre l'exposition aux ondes, aux champs électromagnétiques, aux infrasons, et mes symptômes lourdement handicapants. Ce refus de reconnaissance institutionnelle est une double peine. Ce déni condamne les malades à l'isolement, à l'errance et à l'absence de droits ou de solutions. La violence de ces symptômes, combinée à l'indifférence systémique des autorités sanitaires, crée une détresse psychique si profonde qu'elle pousse aux idées les plus sombres (2 tentatives de suicide). Chaque seconde passée chez soi est une TORTURE insoutenable... mais pour autant, je ne sais pas où est la vérité et je suis confrontée à une impasse médicale concernant mes symptômes. « Celui qui ne doute pas ne risque pas de progresser vers la connaissance et la vérité ». I am very sensitive to EMF, RF and wireless towers. People like myself are constantly dealing with a severe intolerance and face significant disruption to our daily lives. I am unable to hold a cell phone for more than a few minutes, cannot drive a modern car packed with complex computer telemetry, or standing near an operating microwave. These this trigger immediate distressing symptoms such as physical distress, including intense headaches, extreme fatigue, skin tingling or burning, dizziness, and cognitive fog. A cell tower was erected around a half mile from my house in 2016 and I have had to change where I sleep and my work space do to the distressing symptoms it has caused. Please do not allow these cell towers on school properties or near housing developments. Other countries don't allow it. When will the US start taking care of their citizens and not big business?

People who have mold illness and chronic inflammatory response syndrome (CIRS) often report that they also develop EMF sensitivity. Whenever they are near 5G Wi-Fi, cell phone towers, or antennas, they report headaches, brain fog, and fatigue. These symptoms persist until the exposure stops. This significantly affects their quality of life, and many say they stay on 4G because it feels more tolerable and less harsh. Communities have raised concerns, too. In 2019, CBS Sacramento reported that parents at Weston Elementary in Ripon, California, blamed a cell tower on campus after a fourth student there was diagnosed with cancer, including a student with brain cancer ("Parents Blame Elementary School's Cell Tower After 4th Student Diagnosed With Cancer," March 12, 2019). The tower was removed. There are also reports that a researcher in Switzerland found mold released more mycotoxins when exposed to EMF. The experiment is unpublished but is often cited by German doctor Dietrich Klinghardt. People who are sensitive to mold and mycotoxins may be more affected as cell towers and base stations are placed near where people live, work, and go to school. While wireless communication is important, it should not come at the cost of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans trying to go to school, work, or live safely in their homes. Many are exposed constantly and may not connect their symptoms to the frequencies around them. I ask that unbiased scientific research be done, independent reports be aggregated, and accommodations be considered for people with these sensitivities. 6G should be put on hold and not released until this is studied further and 5G may need to be rolled back to 4G. Thank you for your attention to this. I am a concerned citizen and I hope something can be done to protect people's health and quality of life.

Independent experts concur that the 1996 RFR exposure limits remain ineffective because they were based on thermal heating of tissue, while ignoring lower frequencies. Studies based on thermal heating used a 200 lb male dummy and a water filled balloon for head exposure. Debilitating health effects occur at much lower frequency levels. Health impacts for pregnant women, babies, children and those working in fields with chronic exposures weren't considered. Fast forward thirty years, and the amount of RFR emitting devices and ambient RFR levels has skyrocketed. The proliferation of cell phones, cell towers, 5G, 6G, antennas, WiFi, smart meters, and other smart products is unprecedented. No federal agency has assessed/evaluated the impacts on human health and our environment by addressing these combined multiple exposures. Requesting public comment and subsequently amending exposure limits to ensure safety is urgently needed.Major areas of concern include: impacts on children, the environment, EHS individuals and the cumulative, involuntary exposure most people encounter every day.  As a grandmother, I'm extremely worried about the constant RFR exposure experienced by our children and its long term effects. Children are more susceptible to environmental harms as they are smaller physically and in the process of developing. Their skulls are thinner, allowing more radiation to penetrate. Many schools now default to wireless connectivity with no evidence of safety, subjecting our children to this invisible toxin daily. An increasing number of people experience Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity due to current excessive exposure levels. This involuntary exposure while navigating work and/or public spaces is impossible to avoid.  Many individuals through repeated exposure develop hypersensitivity and must actively avoid all exposures. Personally, I find airports intolerable. I experience headaches, vision problems and brain fog that lingers for hours. My home is hard-wired with ethernet cables and I keep my cell phone on airplane mode when not in use. Additionally, unless a state has enacted a no-fee opt-out, involuntary exposures include Smart Meters, which emit continuous pulsed radiation. The natural world is similarly affected. It is known that RFR radiation affects bees and migratory birds, disrupting their ability to navigate and forage effectively. Flora and fauna are known to experience die-offs in close proximity to cell towers. In 2021, Kent Chamberlin Chairman, Emeritus of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of New Hampshire concluded one of the key recommendations of the New Hampshire Commission to Study The Environmental and Health Effects of Evolving 5G Technology is that cell towers be placed no nearer than 1,640 feet from places where people live, work or recreate. This 500 meter setback should become immediate public policy. I am electrohypersensitive and I really feel bad when I'm near a phone with an active internet connection, and also near wifi and antennas, and in general in places with a lot of people and active connections. I develope: headache, tiredness, weakness and bad mood. My muscles also hurt. When I have the opportunity to stay in safe places (such a rare thing!), like for istance in the nature, I feel really good, without any problem. When I come back to the exposition it is very disturbing. I think we could avoid a lot of exposition using the cable (I do in my home) and having a better consciousness of the problem. And also using the wireless connection very much better and less than now.
