Electromagnetic sensitivity

I have electromagnetic hypersensitivity. Being exposed to cell towers and smart meters causes an electrical current/buzzing feeling running through my body. LED lights also cause me health issues. I can't drive at night at all and only when absolutely necessary during the day because of LED street lights and headlights. They give me migraines and cause extreme pain in my eyes. I have to wear sunglasses and keep my eyes closed if I am in a car as a passenger at night which is only when absolutely necessary. I have had 4 LED street lights in close proximity to my home for 2 years now since  the electric company came and changed the HPS lights to LED.  Because of the electromagnetic hypersensitivity, when the LED streetlights are on I feel an electrical current/buzzing running through my body while INSIDE my home.  I suffer from debilitating migraine headaches brought on by these LED lights even  when I am inside my home.  I am also confined to my home after dark because of them and even before as they come on at  least an hour before it is dark. I can't even look out my window when they are on because if I happen  to look the wrong way and catch a glimpse of them, I will get a migraine.  LED lights have detrimental effects on humans, insects and all wildlife. It is  no different than poisoning all of the citizens and wildlife. Why would ANY city allow this  to happen let alone do this to their citizens?

I am one of the growing number of people who has had my life disrupted from wireless devices, even though these common devices meet the current FCC guidelines. I became ill in 2012 when a smart meter was installed on my home with no notification of dangers to my health. I became ill with a condition known as Electromagnetic Sensitivity, which sounds mild enough, but has been a devastating life change. I have been misled by the US government, the FCC, and the wireless industry who state that the radiation that made me ill is safe. It is unusual to recover from this condition once one has become seriously ill as I have. When I am exposed to radiation from wireless sources such as cell phones, wi-fi, cell towers, wireless smart meters, and other wireless devices, I experience adverse health effects including headache, nausea, dizziness, exhaustion just from brief exposures. Brief exposures take three days or more to recover from. If the exposure is longer, even at very low levels of radio frequency radiation, recovery can take three to six months during which I am too ill to risk leaving my house. Longer exposures cause a headache which does not resolve for months, prolonged dizziness and profound exhaustion along with skin rashes, insomnia, systemic edema, metal confusion and difficulty concentrating, stomach and joint pain, and irritability among other symptoms. Recovery is slow and partial, it does not return me to health, just a more functional level of existence. Before the effects on my life from developing wireless radiation sickness I enjoyed an active social and creative life. I painted and exhibited my work in galleries. I enjoyed social dancing and was taking five dance classes a week learning tango and salsa that I drove an hour away from home for. These activities are no long possible. Once the smart meter was installed I became so seriously ill that I could barely care for myself and repeatedly requested that the utility company remove the meter. I was diagnosed with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity, but my doctor's letter was ignored by Edison. Finally, nine months later an analogue meter was installed and I assumed I would get well. That did not happen. It was necessary to totally change my life. I had to get rid of my mobile phone, cordless phones, microwave oven, and now have to sit over two feet away in order to use my wired computer and have to be three feet away from electric appliances in order to use them. I can not travel anywhere in a car without reacting to cell towers. I can not go into stores because of wi-fi. I can not go anywhere in public, church, concerts, art galleries, etc. because almost everyone carries a cell phone. At this point I am confined to my house. Friends shop for food and deliver it for me. I only leave my home a few times a year for dental and eye appointments. I have consultations with my physician by phone to limit exposures. I am very isolated from direct human contact. The FCC adopted its human exposure guidelines in 1996 based on science from the 1980's. This ignores the large and growing body of science showing biological harm even at non-thermal levels. Please read and respond to the link to one of these studies below. I am an 80 year old female retired real estate broker who has experienced watching wireless radiation being increased every year for the last 30 years! Every year we all get more and more exposure! I have become very sensitive to the point that I could feel my nerves being irritated and could not sleep! I had to buy an EMF protector to put in my bedroom so I could sleep. I also have seen the effects of the wireless radiation effecting my grandchildren! Their little bodies are more vulnerable than adults! I always charge my cell phone in another room but the just wifi in the house is G5, and I know the phone companies are all getting geared up to put out G6 wireless that is going to hurt everyone even more and possible kill us! The Department of Health and Human Services was formed to protect humanity! It does not appear to me that you are doing you job! I would think that you would want to start taking your responsibilities more seriously to protect and save humanity who were created by God, the same as you were and in the end we all answer to God!

I am a Medical Doctor and I treat patients with ElectromagneticHypersensitivity, (EHS). From a fireman sleeping only 60 feet from a cell tower in the firestation, after 13 years, he developed a brain tumor that needed surgery and then a shunt, he developed insomnia and anxiety, he became infertile with a very low sperm count, he got depressed and confused, all thought to be from cell tower non-ionizing radiation exposure.

I first became aware of my sensitivity to radiation as a child when entering a department store from a mall and experienced discomfort audibly as being very high frequency. I next became aware of my sensitivity to radiation when entering our local bank. Qhen entering, the ladies would say " we should have known it was you coming, Deb, as our computers froze." Recently, at church, a friend was trying to show us photos of his mission trip but his phone had locked up. I explained thisnhappened a lot, walked away while my husband explained this weird phenominon to him. Once I got far enough from his phone, the man was able to scroll to the photo he was seeking. His mouth dropped open in surprise as I walked back for a repeat. I call this the prince of the power of the air but know that it is radiation on many forms. I can not be in my house with wifi or use a hot spot without wearing tin foil on my head or my stainless steel mixing bowl lined with an apron on my head as the bones in my head feel as if they are being compressed, my jaw begins to ache, my chest feels compressed, i get a headache and can not think correctly, i also become tired. My car thankfully os older so I feel ok while driving it. We need a new car however finding a salesperson willing to invest the time on locating a low tech vehicle plus the other specifics we desire is problematic. Finally, since moving to KY, we have sought someone who was blood vector literate, as our children were both conceived having absorbed all of my infections. At age 39, I was diagnosed by Hopkins with MS. My MRI showed 3 plaques on brain, neck aand spine. Blessidly, at age 50, we took our child to the Amen Clinic where Dr. Joseph Anaboly saved our lives by directing us to ILADS.org where our children and my husband and I were diagnosed with an abundence of Lyme disease and co-infections, viruses, bacterian, parasites, etc. The International Lyme Associated Disease Society saved our lives by correctly testing and treating our illnesses. We remain with those incredible women however, having moved to TN 6 years ago, we recently sought a Lyme Literate Doc. Our naturalpath began by drawing blood and looking at it under his microscope hooked to his computer screen. This is where we first observed Rouleaux (mal) Formations. The Swiss have used basic tests to show exposure to a cell phone in the area in back of their knee (within an otherwise healthy subject ) within minutes displayed flattened, stacked red blood cells appearing as if they were dimes placed one on top of the other in the paper bank holder. I have photos coming of my blood displaying the Rouleaux formations but wanted to send this information in a timely fashion. A cell phone tower was recently built a mile or so away from us so when I go outside, I usually place a double sheet of foil inside the crown of my hat. Our phones are kept in a metal cookie tin at night. I no longer carry a cell phone with me but do when traveling carry a phone inside a cookie tin for emergencies. I am thankful for this opportunity to contribute my experience to help others who experience physicsl discomfort and many interuptions to their lives. I warn many other people about the dangers of radiation to children and small animals. I also caution young marrieds to be accurately tested for LD infections before trying to conceive. Thank you. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a patient diagnosed with EMR Syndrome and as an UNPAID 24x7, care-giver to my special needs sister who has also been diagnosed with EMR Syndrome. Due to "years" of continuous, accumulative, 24x7, non-stop exposure from the combination and interaction of multiple and simultaneous RF radiation sources including but not limited to: smart meters, antennas, cell towers, other people's cell phones and i-watches, self check-out registers, vehicle sensors, LED lighting all public places, Flock cameras, security cameras (hospitals, health care settings, public places) smart TV's public places, public transportation, amusement parks (no more Disneyland), "Un-regulated and Un-Accounted" for antennas on neighbor's homes plus neighbor's RF radiation from their smart meters, solar panels and multiple WiFi sources. I have to take care of my sister on top of trying to take care of myself while battling EMR Syndrome. My sister can't communicate how she feels. It's by her behavioral issues and/or mood when I know RF radiation is affecting her and my RF meter never fails to substantiate. Prior to the rollout of 5G, we went to the gym 4 days per week, church weekly, outings with friends, movies, lunch or dinner regularly, birthday parties, had zoo memberships, vacations and a lot of LIFE! Now we are "semi-prisoners" in a shielded home that still isn't enough. This has all been taken away from us and we no longer have the quality of life that we had in the past prior to the deployment of 5G and by the FCC not placing a moratorium to study the health affects on humans when in fact they were given overwhelming evidence of the harm to humans, animals and the environment. We have been denied our quality of life and disenfranchised by the FCC. Our special needs community is even more vulnerable because a lot of this population is non-verbal and some can't process exactly what is happening to their bodies when exposed to RF Radiation. I can testify that it's terrifying being radiated, experiencing instant brain fog and panic then wanting to run away fast from this "invisible" force that's over-stimulating your nervous system and entire body.. It has to be more terrifying for special needs trying to process what is happening and not understanding they're being "radiated." It can trigger behavioral issues leading to unjustified "punishment" and being "Misdiagnosed" or "Let's just heavily medicate, isolate and institutionalize them." Shame on us! Many are probably prescribed "unnecessary, harmful medications" when they might have EMR Syndrome and need to live, work and socialize in a low, EMF environment. I have watched multiple times while attending equine therapy with my sister when suddenly a special needs child would have behavioral issues while surrounded by several school teacher's and aides who all have cell phones and/or i-watches. I've watched in AGONIZING silence, an innocent victim being disciplined, threatened to have their horse ride taken away unless they behave, then threatened to be sent home because they're not behaving. One child got sent home. One child was denied their horse ride. I personally know a bus trainer and the drivers are now complaining of getting sick driving the new, electric buses which have a lot of "sensors." They are trained on how to recognize "sensory" issues. This is now creating havoc on bus drivers and students with "sensory" issues with these new, electrified buses. Short version of our symptoms: tinnitus, tori (bony overgrowth in mouth, mine is massive), headaches, Burning skin, depression, cataracts, tingling in head, minor to major nausea, abnormal skin conditions, irritability, sleep disturbances, dizziness, thyroid disease and brain fog. My sister can't tell me everything that's wrong with her but she has most of the same symptoms I've listed. I'll never know if she has tinnitus but she does have thyroid nodules. One needs a biopsy. No health organization can accommodate us. Help, please! We need help in the ER at hospitals. 2 bad experiences having to take my sister to the ER in the last 6 months and ridiculed by staff when I mention EMR Syndrome. I almost passed out last month in the ER while waiting. Human health should be addressed by federal agencies with expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of families who report being affected should be mandatory with the scientific evidence. Please carefully evaluate these experiences, scientific evidence, identify gaps in research, give attention to children and vulnerable populations and establish federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation. HHS, thank you for letting our voices be heard and making desperate changes in the ER and health settings.

My name is Mana Washio, and I currently live inSpringfield, MA. I became EHS in 2013, when my husband and I lived in Watertown, MA. While we were on vacation, NSTAR came and installed a bank of infamous Smart Meters. Our bedroom was surrounded by them, and there were also two circuit breaker panels underneath our bedroom (because we lived on the 1st floor). We also had a WiFi router in our bedroom, without knowing its harm. Immediately after the Smart Meter installation, I started having piercing headaches, as if someone was inserting an ice pick into my brain. It was SO bad, I could not sleep at all. I also developed all sorts of GI issues, heart palpitation, chest pain, concentration difficulties, and so on. My symptoms subsided when I went away from my home, and it became worse when I came home. I also felt VERY strong pain standing right in front of the Smart Meters outside, so I knew what was causing the problem. EHS diagnosis was extremely difficult to attain, because there are VERY few doctors who could diagnose. I was only able to get one in 2022, after moving to RI. I was a performing musician for many years, but large concert venues where people gather with their cell phones became the hardest place to work. I was forced to completely switch my career, and now I work from home as a Health Coach & a Reiki practitioner. Although I love my current job, I had to start all over and had completely different training before I was able to start making decent salary. In July 2023, I took the National Board Exam for Health and Wellness Coaching. 3 years ago in 2020, I actually took the same exam but miserably failed, due to the severe short-term memory and vision issues I developed due to the high EMF exposure at the test site. Even though I had requested, I was not given any accommodations I needed. So I forced myself to go into the test center. In 2023, I submitted the accommodation request again, along with the formal EHS diagnosis from MD and two supporting letters. I also explained what happened to me 3 years ago. But they did not give me the necessary accommodations right away. My accommodation request was only granted after I wrote the 3rd letter to them, quoting directly from the Department of Justice website, under the “Exams and Courses” section for people with disability. After the approval, I was finally able to bring in a few EMF shielding materials. Thankfully, my short-term memory and vision were intact this time, and I passed the exam. It is VERY clear that the EMF safety standards set by FCC is grossly outdated and inadequate. I strongly urge FCC to immediately review the current safety standards, and truly reflect the harms of these manmade radiation. There are THOUSANDS of published, peer-reviewed scientific studies from independent scientists (who have NO monetary ties with the industry) that clearly show EMF's biological harm, and FCC simply cannot continue to ignore the significant impact it has already made to people, animals and environment.

Thank you for looking more carefully at the effects of EM radiation on humans and other living things. I have not suffered a serious injury, but I want to submit a comment to support efforts for more research and regulation. I am sensitive to EMF, so I do not own a cell phone and I do not use wi-fi in my house. Our laptops are wired. When I hold an iPad or cell phone with an active signal, it causes pain in my hands, so I am inclined to shift it from one to the other like a hot potato. My daughter did a science project where she grew seedlings directly inside the wall from our electric company smart meter, and also at a location in the same room as far from the meter as possible. The seedlings backed against the meter were very noticeably stunted compared to the ones grown at a distance. Because my husband was working right next to the smart meter, we decided it was worth $30/month to have a meter that does not send out a pulse every few seconds. It does seem that he became less easily angered and irritated after the meter was removed - which of course is highly anecdotal - but maybe you will hear the same kind of thing from others so it can be a drop in the bucket.

I suffered toxic exposure and have genetic predisposition to issues with processing toxins. Post exposures I became severely hypersensitive to EMF, wifi, and especially smart meters. Utility company used to provide opt out for smart meters but without notifying members who opt out, just cancelled the right to opt out. (California requires opt out, many states offer it including the main Colorado utility, but United Power in Colorado is the one refusing to allow disabled people to opt out anymore - effectively making it untenable for them to stay in homes they worked hard to make safe. I have serious conditions and reactions and a clear before/after. Once the body is overloaded, exposures to EMF etc become devastating physically. Please contact me for more info and regulate these industries. How long did we have to wait for cigarette regulation, then cell phones and kids, at the very least we should be allowed the right to choose and live with the accomodations we need.
