Recounts a deceased friend's sensitivity and symptoms, asks for public education and community input on i…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I have a friend who was highly sensitive to non-native EMFs. She would break out in a rash whenever she was around anyone who had a cell phone on. If she was near a cell tower, she'd get nauseous and experience headaches. She felt debilitated and exhausted whenever she had prolonged exposure in a city or store. She used to tell me "I'm the canary in the coal mine." Miners would bring a canary with them in the mines and if it died, they knew it was an indication of a problem with low oxygen and that they would have to leave the environment in order to survive. My friend passed away just last month. The canary has died. While there are countless studies that point to the harm that comes from non-native EMFs, RF and wireless radiation exposure, once you know someone who has been affected, you can no longer ignore the reality of the dangers they pose. Even cell phone companies admit that you shouldn't touch cell phones or keep them near the body, but it's in the fine print on inserts and most ignore this advice on a daily basis. I am writing in response to your request and urge you to make the studies that have been conducted more available to the public so that they can change their behavior if they so choose. Have a campaign to educate/inform the public about the effects of non-native EMF exposure. But I also want to make sure you do what you can to ensure that the public is more protected by getting companies to stop installing towers without community input on their location. Cell towers, iPads, and laptops for school children are damaging them physically, mentally, and emotionally. So the first step should be to protect them, the most vulnerable. In sum, I'd like to see greater awareness about the effects of EMFs and also more accountability/responsibility from tech companies about where they install antennas and even data centers. Community input must be insisted upon and permitted not solely on the basis of the aesthetics of the areas but because of health concerns.

Nature, duration, frequency, and approximate timing (e.g., years):Tumor on thumb for a year with agonizing searing pain in the presence of cellular phones, but absolutely updated Apple phones. I have generalized EMF sensitivity for 10 years as a background with fatigue. 3c. Adverse health effect(s) experienced:Fatigue Agonizing pain Nausea and vomiting 3d. Time from first exposure to first appearance of adverse health effects; and did a change in exposure coincide with the onset of adverse effects:The change would’ve been the tumor coming on my thumb with a fungal infection and as soon as that started to be controlled, the pain totally goes away with the iPhones 3e. This includes Scientific Reports, exposure measurements, or other relevant information:Oh, we could talk for days on the metering my husband and I have done in our home. The one other wild card was installing Starlink. Plugging in the Starlink put the dirty energy in the house up to 1700! I know that is not the focus of the study, but that was a huge part of my problem until we mitigated the one plug for Starlink. Additional Details you would like to share about your experiences of adverse health effects you believe to be associated with exposure to wireless radiation or EMF's: B1a. Sources you experience as causing you Adverse Effects:Dirty energy, magnetic fields, Wi-Fi, cellular phones, especially Apple phones that are newly updated. Grok has found these health experiences, a couple of them are comments to deleted posts that I kept in as they were of interest. In #2 for example a person described a mushroom mildened their EMF sensitivity. HHS-OASH-2026-0397, health experiences found on Reddit. 1. A new Wi-Fi repeater caused headache and dizziness. They could not turn it off. https://redd.it/10ahav6 2. Comment; post removed. They believe Reishi mushroom helped, via porphyria (a blood and liver condition). Only Reishi is named. https://www.reddit.com/comments/10seusf/_/j8lwy45 3. Near power lines and an airport: hard to catch their breath, woke short of air, headache, fatigue, and trouble with memory and thinking. Fine when away. Fume cleanup failed. https://redd.it/148vgpq 4. Poor sleep with a Wi-Fi router on the other side of the wall. Better after moving their head away. https://redd.it/1w8faog 5. Lyme symptoms eased after leaving the power grid to avoid these fields. https://redd.it/1wh6czw 6. They blame radio waves for insomnia. No test. https://redd.it/e1i4jw 7. They turn the cell phone off to sleep and to work. https://redd.it/lghzts 8. High home-meter readings, blamed for headaches and thinning hair. Post removed; numbers gone. https://redd.it/ohu0ua 9. Comment on a deleted post: an earpiece tingled the ear, so they quit Bluetooth earpieces. https://www.reddit.com/comments/stwxwf/_/hx6s73u 10. Same thread: Bluetooth devices hurt, and they trust no research they found. https://www.reddit.com/comments/stwxwf/_/hxarf7b 11. A protective pendant stopped headache and dizziness. Post removed. https://redd.it/sx77i9 12. A dark, grounded bedroom built free of these fields, for sleep. https://redd.it/sz1irk 13. Some laptops and a fanless tablet, not the phone, cause pinprick feelings. Suspect a wireless chip or the power circuit. https://redd.it/1m462eu 14. Phone off for a day, felt well; sick 10 minutes after turning it on. https://redd.it/1qa93di 15. Phone on the ear: lasting pain. Uses speaker or a wired headset. Asks if Bluetooth is better. https://redd.it/1w23p6w 16. Insomnia a week after a first cell phone. Possibly coincidence. https://redd.it/12j0688 17. Asks if anyone else is sensitive to these fields. Post removed. https://redd.it/zs19wv 18. 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi causes headache and poor sleep; 2.4 gigahertz does not. Not cellular 5G. May be a placebo. https://redd.it/18dz3am 19. Wireless earphones bring migraine more often than wired ones. https://redd.it/xstdk1 20. Bluetooth headphones cause headache, worse with noise cancelling. Wired earbuds mostly do not. https://redd.it/1tu7v1t 21. Bluetooth by the head: headache stops when the device is off. A running microwave feels similar. https://redd.it/1b9cd6k 22. Wi-Fi 7, 3 feet away: head pressure within 5 minutes. Unplugged. Wi-Fi 6 had not. https://redd.it/1mohjgm 23. Galaxy Buds: headache gone a week after they stopped. https://redd.it/bmupqb 24. Nausea after under 30 seconds beside high-current power cables. https://redd.it/yr7qky 25. Wi-Fi in a pocket tingles that leg in 5 minutes. Mobile data does not. Not heat, they say. Australia. https://redd.it/1k6hhzo 26. Many routers and Bluetooth devices: headache, brain fog, and a drained feeling. https://redd.it/14sqnti 27. Asks how others cope with electrical and magnetic sensitivity. No test. https://redd.it/sydm9r 28. Blames towers, power lines, and Wi-Fi. Left the house; measured with Wi-Fi on and off. https://redd.it/ogicw6 29. Computers, phones, TVs, and Wi-Fi sicken them on entering a room. They stay farther away. https://redd.it/17262hz 30. Headache near a running microwave or a Wi-Fi router. https://redd.it/16qb1kl 37. After a brain injury it feels like an electric shock. No test. https://redd.it/13hm1p9 38. Mother's tinnitus, worse by the router, eased days after it was moved. https://redd.it/2cyna4 39. Father's headaches from Wi-Fi and phones. Paint to block wireless signals, cables instead of Wi-Fi, mesh against neighbors' signals. Child's account. https://redd.it/vumod8 40. Headaches from 5 gigahertz Wi-Fi. Has not tried adding the 2.4 gigahertz band. https://redd.it/170kagt 41. Real high-voltage fault: husband's headache, vomiting, and burning. Only he felt it. Better at his parents'. https://redd.it/1w6p49f

1. & 2. I am responding as: 3a. Type of wireless or RF/EMF sources involved (e.g., mobile phones, Wi-Fi, smart meters…)Wi-Fi/Smart Meters/Mobile Phones/MM Wave Airport Scanners/Cell phone towers 3b. Nature, duration, frequency, and approximate timing (e.g., years):Since 2018 - Inability to sleep in an environment with Wi-Fi, extreme headaches, nausea. Extreme pain in legs after going through an MM Wave airport scanner inadvertently for the first and only time - I have peripheral neuropathy of my lower limbs. 3c. Adverse health effect(s) experienced:As above. 3d. Time from first exposure to first appearance of adverse health effects; and did a change in exposure coincide with the onset of adverse effects:My situation and intolerance to EMF’s was, I believe, caused by my exposure to fumes onboard aircraft which contain organophosphates. I worked for 20 years as a Flight Attendant and was acutely and chronically exposed to the chemical fumes. I have sensory issues amongst other health effects including brain injury and peripheral neuropathy as a result. I developed multiple chemical sensitivity in 2017 and EMF sensitivity in 2018. 3e. Was medical evaluation or treatment sought? (Optionally:) Was there a diagnosis?I have a diagnosis of Environmental Intolerance (Chemical and EMF’s) from my doctor. Not Idiopathic - as my doctor knows what caused it. I also have a diagnosis of Organophosphate Poisoning. 3f. Were steps taken to reduce or eliminate exposure, and were there subsequent changes in the effects?I moved to a rural area of France with minimal mobile phone signal and into an old property with thick stone walls and no near neighbours. My laptop is hardwired and Wi-Fi in the house is limited to just 30 minutes twice a day. Avoidance is the only remedy and the only way to reduce/eliminate exposure. 3g. Any supporting documentation? This includes Scientific Reports, exposure measurements, or other relevant information:I have some scientific reports, but i’m sure you have them already. I don’t have an exposure measurements - I know exposure here is minimal. I moved away in order to avoid exposure as much as possible. I live a very different lifestyle these days which includes an organic diet, no chemicals in the house, and minimal exposure to EMF’s. The area I live in is an organic farming area and life is at a slower pace. Additional Details you would like to share about your experiences of adverse health effects you believe to be associated with exposure to wireless radiation or EMF's:No, I think I have covered it; but generally, I feel that unless you are personally affected or understand the true science on the issue, you can’t even begin to understand what people like me have gone through or the lengths we have gone to for our health - as well as our sanity. I have been lucky in that my doctor will read scientific papers, has fully investigated my health and understands the effects EMF’s can cause me. He gave me an exemption for the smart meters here in France and an exemption for the MM Wave airport scanners (for the very rare occasions I have to fly). B1a. Reports electrosensitivity after smart-meter and workplace exposures, describes symptoms and clinical-acc…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I got electrosensitive about 6 months ago after being exposed to a smart meter nearby (I was almost "attached to it" for a couple of days as I did not pay attention that there was a smart meter), and at the same time I started working in a new office room very near to a base station with especially high RF levels. I experience symptoms from phones, wi-fi, base stations, practically any wireless technology, but unfortunately also from electrical fields (when devices I touch are plugged into a power outlet, and cars) and electromagnetic fields (cars, power lines ecc). Especially phones and hybrid and electrical vehicles, subway and train are detrimental for my health. Just a couple of days near to a smart meter and base station made me this sensible, but of course previously I had been exposed to many RF fields with various levels for years, as they are ubiquitous. Now I get symptoms quite fast, in a couple of minutes, depending on the intensity of the exposure. Symptoms include strong tinnitus, headache, cold and numb hands, insomnia, pain and “waves” in my face and head, tiredness, nausea and rarely, after longer and strong exposure, also vomiting. I have not got any specific medical treatments, as there is no understanding in the health care system about this condition. I got help and advice from peer support groups. I am still looking for specialist that could help me. Luckily I have been able to continue working, at least for now, with specific keyboard, mouse, ethernet connection and asking collaborators to switch their phones in airplane mode when we work face-to-face. My work place has had a very understanding attitude. A crucial element in my capacity to work was leaving the premises where I fell ill as soon as I understood my symptoms were connected to radiation. Now the premises where I work have quite low back ground levels.

1. & 2. I am responding as: an individual 3a. Type of wireless (e.g., mobile phones, Wi-Fi, smart meters…)5G+ WIRING/JUNCTION BOXES 3b. Nature, duration, frequency, and approximate timing (e.g., years): CONSTANT. 3c. Adverse health effect(s) experienced:Low blood oxygen, severe thyroid disruption (incl. heart thrumming, weight gain), insulin resistance & blood sugar issues, low grade skin cancers, brain fog, constant need to sleep but sleep is interrupted, immune system breakdown causing delayed healing, musculoskeletal disorders, thinning hair, gaunt face and accelerated aging. 3d. Time from first exposure to first appearance of health effects; and did a change in exposure coincide with the onset of adverse effects:Within 90 days after installation and activation in my neighborhood. 3e. Was medical evaluation or treatment sought? (Optionally:) Was there a diagnosis? No. It would be pointless and there are no available licensed NC physicians who can comprehend this level/type of physics, and most are terrified of completing and documentation about the effects of electrosensitivity. 3f. Were steps taken to reduce or eliminate exposure? I tried to stop the installation of 5G+ by informing the County Commissioners of the dangers from 2021 - 2023. They ignored me. I cannot reduce or eliminate my exposure. I wear two pendants: an Essential Energy Life Plate ($350) and a Biogeometry pendant ($180.00). I have Biogeometry plates in my vehicle. I have installed tensor technology on my property where possible. 3g. Any supporting documentation?: I have done some random power measurements with my SafeLivingTechnologies.com training meter. The ambient power measurements in my area used to be 4-5 microWatts/sqm within the "Safe" range. Now, it is 60,000 microWatts/sqm... which is into Bau Biologie's Extreme Concern levels where cellular destruction commences along with carcinogenicity. Additional Details: This form is inadequate. We are being impacted by EMR (EMF is a misleading term. Frequencies can be good.) - Electro Magnetic Radiation from MANY sources we do NOT control at this time. I was made electrosensitive by Florida Power and Light's installation of Smart Meters on the 4-plex where I lived without any notification. For 2 years, I was pounded by 13,000 pulses a day from four meters. Fort Myers, FL experienced the forced installation of 5G masts there caused VISIBLE accelerated aging. I only know that because I was gone for most of year. My friends had visibly aged 3-5 years. Gray hair went white, and everyone's faces stressed looking. Public facing jobs endure the worst of the C19 injection bio-synthetic nano-tech shedding, and all-source EMR. The cumulative effect was devastating for them. B1a. Sources - Adverse Effects: 5G+ grid, Smart grid, Cell towers, LED lights, Other Peoples "dumb" phones. B1b. Sources you can sense w/o harm: None. B1c. Sources that don't harm: None. B1d. Sources that provide benefit: Online healing frequency recordings found on youtube. These frequencies are from PC speakers. They are simply audible frequencies. B2a. Health conditions contributing to your sensitivity: Low blood oxygen, thyroid disruption (incl. heart thrumming, weight gain), insulin resistance & blood sugar issues, low grade skin cancers, brain fog, constant need to sleep and sleep interruption, immune system bkdown: delayed healing, musculoskeletal disorders, thinning hair, gaunt face and accelerated aging. B2b. Health conditions you don't associate with EMR: None. I was in great shape before FPL installed the smart grid without notice in Fort Myers, FL in 2012. B3. Please list up to 5 drugs or therapies or home remedies (if any) B3a. That you recommend: I wear two pendants: an Essential Energy Life Plate ($350) and a Biogeometry pendant ($180.00). I have Biogeometry plates in my vehicle. I have installed tensor technology on my property where possible. Online healing frequency recordings found on youtube. These frequencies come from my PC speakers. There is no EMR behind them. They are simply audible frequencies. I use nutraceuticals, supplements and detox methods to reduce or eliminate the nanotech from the everpresent tropospheric aerosolization with metals and toxins, and the C19 injected and contaminated people. The nano-tech ramps up reactivity with EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation), so getting rid of it helps a LOT. B3b. You recommend, but you’re not positive that they help: If something I try doesn't increase my energy, speed my healing and provide immune support, I don't do it anymore. B3c. That helped you but you don’t recommend. (e.g., the benefit did not last long or the side effects were too harmful):None. B3d. Treatments that had no effect: None. B3e. Treatments that made your sensitivity worse: None. B4. What is your age range? 65-74 B5. What year did sensitivitystart? 2014 B6. What country, state, province, or major city were you living in when you first noticed ? Fort Myers, Florida

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
When I was 12 my whole life got turned upside down due to EMF. I couldn't do normal things, was ostracized from my peers, teachers, and classmates. I got nosebleeds, stabbing headaches, memory loss, nausea, restless legs, pain, extreme whole-body inflammation, my eyes couldn't focus, and insane fatigue. Everyone around me thought I was crazy or making it up.  But then I was 15 and had to write a research paper on something, I chose to write on EMF. I got paid to have my 15-page research paper published by a company in the United Kingdom that I wrote my freshman year. A classmate who thought I was making it up mocked me for doing that, and later didn't have enough research to back up his paper. I had so much scientific published research on EMF I actually had to take out over 6 pages of my paper. The research was astounding and other countries know and acknowledge the harms of EMF. They protect children. They don't allow cell towers within 2 miles of schools, they have research on the effects of non-ionizing radiation.  My pain from EMF got to such a degree that it felt like in addition to having headaches that felt like someone was stabbing me in the head and I couldn't breathe. Once we started turning off our Wi-Fi at night I was finally able to sleep, and some of the pain went away. The shift was drastic. I am happy to say that a few years later I've recovered and am a lot less sensitive, but that's only thanks to the research I did when I was younger, and to my parents work to protect me and help me heal from the damage.  We should not allow the cell phone companies profiting from these to set the safety standards. That's unethical and we're putting profit over health here in the US. If any third party did the research we would know ad see that we're insanely exceeding the safe amount of radiation a human can tolerate. But instead we are letting the cell phone tower companies tell us what is safe, and we're allowing this to be an unregulated industry.  My teenage years were dictated by EMF and my symptoms. I couldn't go to things I wanted to, hang out with friends, have people over unless they turned their phones off, or be in normalcy in society due to the extreme negative health effects I experienced from EMF and RF.  I have done extensive research on EMF, please read my paper below that was published in the UK. Let's do better for our country and our children - because I was the one who wasn't protected.  https://www.electricsense.com/emf-silent-killer/

I am extremely sensitive to EMF/RF frequencies, and have been SEVERELY DISABLED by them in my past. I have a “canary in the coal mine” kind of sensitivity, which is a detriment when living in this modern age. However, since I’ve learned how to mitigate this frequency problem for myself, I am now fine around EMFs/RFs. PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT

The commenter requests independent reassessment of RF limits, research on cumulative and nonthermal effec…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I appreciate HHS undertaking this important inquiry into electromagnetic fields (EMFs), radiofrequency (RF) radiation, and their potential effects on human health. My central concern is that the widespread deployment of wireless technologies has outpaced our understanding of the biological consequences of chronic, cumulative exposure. Compliance with existing exposure standards is not equivalent to demonstrating long-term biological safety. I urge HHS to address the following concerns: 1. Reevaluate safety standards beyond thermal effects. Current RF exposure standards have historically emphasized protection against tissue heating. Yet peer-reviewed research has reported biological effects involving oxidative stress, neurological function, reproductive health, and cellular processes at exposure levels that warrant investigation beyond heating alone. The National Toxicology Program’s 2018 studies reported clear evidence of carcinogenic activity involving malignant heart schwannomas in male rats exposed to certain RF conditions. The Ramazzini Institute independently reported increased heart schwannomas in male rats. Although these findings do not establish cancer risks from ordinary human wireless exposure, they raise legitimate questions requiring further investigation. 2. Investigate cumulative, real-world exposure. Americans experience simultaneous exposure from Wi-Fi, cellular networks, Bluetooth devices, smart meters, and other wireless technologies. Research must examine long-term exposure to multiple sources, including potential effects of duration, frequency, modulation, and cumulative lifetime exposure. 3. Prioritize vulnerable populations. Children, pregnant women, developing fetuses, and individuals with neurological vulnerabilities deserve particular consideration. Children increasingly experience wireless exposure throughout their school day, often without meaningful alternatives. HHS should determine whether existing standards adequately protect developing biological systems rather than assuming uniform safety across populations. 4. Ensure independent research and regulatory transparency. The telecommunications industry has substantial financial interests in maintaining existing infrastructure and exposure standards. HHS should disclose how current limits were established, how conflicting scientific findings have been evaluated, and what role industry-funded research and representatives have played in regulatory decisions. Independent replication, transparent methodologies, and full disclosure of financial conflicts are essential to public trust. 5. Protect informed choice and individual autonomy. Americans deserve understandable information about wireless exposure and practical ways to reduce it. I urge HHS to support wired alternatives in schools and public facilities, greater transparency regarding infrastructure emissions, meaningful community participation, and reasonable accommodations for individuals reporting electromagnetic sensitivity. 6. Apply the precautionary principle. The absence of conclusive evidence of harm must never be misrepresented as conclusive evidence of safety. Reasonable precautionary measures should not require absolute scientific certainty, particularly when exposure is widespread, continuous, and difficult to avoid. Specific Actions Requested I respectfully urge HHS to: 1. Independently reassess existing RF exposure limits, including potential nonthermal biological effects. 2. Commission replication and follow-up studies of significant National Toxicology Program and Ramazzini Institute findings. 3. Fund long-term research examining cumulative exposure from multiple wireless sources. 4. Prioritize research involving children, pregnancy, neurological health, sleep, and reproductive outcomes. 5. Require transparency regarding industry influence, research funding, and regulatory conflicts of interest. 6. Expand public access to real-world exposure measurements and meaningful consumer information. 7. Support wired alternatives and reasonable exposure-reduction measures. 8. Establish a transparent process for periodically updating exposure standards as scientific evidence evolves. Closing Statement Wireless technology provides undeniable convenience, but convenience must never substitute for rigorous public health evaluation. The burden of establishing reasonable safety should not rest entirely upon individuals after a technology has already been deployed throughout their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. The American public deserves an independent assessment that examines all credible scientific evidence, acknowledges unresolved questions, and places human health above commercial interests. I urge HHS to make this inquiry the beginning of meaningful scientific investigation and regulatory accountability rather than another exercise in reaffirming existing assumptions. Thank you for considering my comments.
