I am a mother in Arizona his children have been impacted by emfs and Wireless Communications. My son is so sensitive even to microwaves and it impacts his health I know a lot of us have toxic overload of everything in our environments maybe it's not one thing but it's two or three things that are breaking the Children's Health. Please do the research on this and limit it from our communities

An electrician describes home mitigation observations and proposes precautionary sleeping-area guidance, …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am a Licensed Electrician and perform EMF Mitigation for private residences. I received training through the Building Biology Institute and am in process to be certified through BBI as an Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist. For the past 6 years I have measured and mitigated electromagnetic fields in homes with a primary focus on sleeping areas. My work is guided by the Building Biology Evaluation Guidelines, which are based on the precautionary principle and the goal of creating environments that support long-term health rather than merely avoiding acute thermal injury. I appreciate HHS’s initiative to examine RF/EMF exposures, particularly as they affect children and other vulnerable populations. There exists a large gap between U.S. standards and precautionary guidelines. U.S. and ICNIRP standards are based almost exclusively on heating (thermal) effects. A substantial body of peer-reviewed research documents non-thermal biological effects at levels far below those limits. Mechanisms repeatedly discussed in the literature and observed in practice include activation of voltage-gated calcium channels leading to oxidative stress, disruption of melatonin and circadian rhythms, DNA damage, increased blood-brain barrier permeability, and effects on sperm and reproductive tissue. From my professional experience, the most consistent and rapidly reversible effects are on sleep quality and overnight recovery. Clients frequently report improvements in sleep, energy, headaches, heart palpitations, cognitive clarity, and skin sensations after reduction of nighttime exposures, even when daytime exposures remain largely unchanged. These observations align with the emphasis Building Biology places on sleeping areas. Children are of particular concern. Their thinner skulls, higher tissue conductivity, developing nervous and immune systems, and longer cumulative lifetime exposure increase vulnerability. I regularly encounter elevated RF and AC electric/magnetic fields in children’s bedrooms from Wi-Fi routers, baby monitors, cordless phones, cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, smart meters, and poorly designed electrical wiring. Building Biology Evaluation Guidelines for Sleeping Areas: • Radiofrequency: ideally < 0.1–10 µW/m² • AC magnetic fields: < 0.2–1 mG (20–100 nT) • AC electric fields / body voltage: very low (typically aiming for body voltage < 10–100 mV) These levels are orders of magnitude below current FCC public exposure limits. Several European medical associations (e.g., Austrian Medical Association, EUROPAEM) and the BioInitiative reports have recommended substantially lower precautionary limits than those adopted in the United States. To address the current research gaps, the following areas should be prioritized: • Long-term studies of chronic, low-level, pulsed RF exposures typical of real-world environments (Wi-Fi, 4G/5G, DECT, smart meters) rather than short-term, continuous-wave laboratory exposures. • Effects on sleep architecture, melatonin, and overnight recovery in children and adolescents. • Combined exposures (RF + dirty electricity/microsurge electrical pollution + AC electric and magnetic fields). • Identification of susceptible subgroups (including those with electrohypersensitivity/EMR syndrome) and objective biomarkers. • Prospective studies of mitigation effectiveness in homes and schools. Recommendations: 1. Prioritize sleeping areas — Turn off or place Wi-Fi routers in airplane mode at night; keep cell phones and tablets out of bedrooms or in airplane mode; prefer hardwired Ethernet connections. 2. Reduce close-range device use — Encourage speakerphone, wired headsets, or airplane mode for children; avoid carrying phones against the body. 3. Address electrical environment — Identify and correct wiring errors that elevate magnetic fields; consider demand switches or circuit control for bedrooms to reduce AC electric fields during sleep; minimize dirty electricity from dimmers, inverters, and certain electronics. 4. School and institutional settings — Prefer hardwired networks where feasible; locate wireless access points away from classrooms and offices; provide low-EMF options for sensitive students. 5. Siting of infrastructure — Avoid placing cell antennas, small cells, and smart meters in close proximity to homes, schools, and daycare facilities. 6. Education — Provide clear, accessible information so parents, teachers, and clinicians can make informed choices while research continues. I urge HHS to incorporate precautionary considerations for non-thermal effects into its evaluation, especially for children, and to support independent research that examines real-world exposure patterns and mitigation outcomes. Practitioner observations and the existing body of non-thermal research should be weighed alongside the thermal-only framework that currently underpins U.S. standards. Respectfully, William Pursino

1. & 2. I am responding as: an individual 3a. Type of wireless or RF/EMF sources involved (e.g., mobile phones, Wi-Fi, smart meters…) Mobile phones 3b. Nature, duration, frequency, and approximate timing (e.g., years):When people use their mobile phones to access cellular data, the initial signal is very strong while the phone is connecting to a tower. It is about 20 seconds long and gives me symptoms. This has been happening to me for six years. 3c. Adverse health effect(s) experienced:Wakes me up from sleep, heart palpitations, and headaches. 3d. Time from first exposure to first appearance of adverse health effects; and did a change in exposure coincide with the onset of adverse effects: 4 years. A change of exposure (to additional EMF) greatly increased the symptoms. 3e. Was medical evaluation or treatment sought? (Optionally:) Was there a diagnosis? Medical treatment was sought, but unsuccessfully. 3f. Were steps taken to reduce or eliminate exposure, and were there subsequent changes in the effects? Yes. This involved removing all wireless devices from the home and moving to a different house away from neighbors. Additionally, because of the proximity of neighbors' wireless devices, it necessitated sleeping in the basement. 3g. Any supporting documentation? This includes Scientific Reports, exposure measurements, or other relevant information: Apple iphones, when "wifi assist" is turned on, default to the cell tower for internet access. When I first started waking up 5x a night with heart palpitations, my baby in the other room would wake up 10 seconds later, screaming. This happened on the hour and the half hour. It turned out that this was directly correlated with our neighbor using her cell phone between TV programs. (She stayed up later than we did.) When she turned off "wifi assist" so her cell phone accessed the internet through her own wifi router, the night waking ended immediately. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of realizing I had become EMF sensitive and eventually I had to move. Additional Details you would like to share about your experiences of adverse health effects you believe to be associated with exposure to wireless radiation or EMF's:I was mildly sensitive to EMF, but it was not enough to notice, until I moved to a different house. This house, we later learned, was bordering on the right-of-way of a high voltage power line (69kV). Additionally, a smart meter was installed after we moved in. After a pregnancy, I had a situation that required a chest CT scan, which, of all medical imaging, has the highest amount of radiation. I think this overexposure created the perfect storm to make me very EMF sensitive.

Reports severe cognitive and coordination symptoms attributed to wireless exposure, describes loss of a l…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Wifi, cell towers, and phone EMFs cause encephalopathy in me, and it is cumulative. With no recent exposure, my travel limit is 1 1/2 hours one way. It starts with word finding difficulty, and progresses to inability to form complete sentences and affects fine motor coordination to the point it is as if I am intoxicated. In early 2018, I traveled to a dentist 10 hours away, and was staying in a place w/ extremely high speed wifi. After being inside for a an hour, symptoms started. I had word finding difficulty. I could feel pressure in my head, and it got progressively worse. At first I wasn’t sure what was causing these symptoms. After sleeping there one night, I woke up having word finding difficulty, and my fine motor coordination was deeply affected. My head hurt from the pressure. I remembered the really fast wifi and wondered could it possibly be that. I drove out of town and grounded my feet to see if symptoms would dissipate, and they did, indicating it might be the wifi causing it. I drove back to the condo before my dentist appointment, and this time, onset of symptoms started as soon as I walked into the building. I grounded again before my dentist appointment to relieve symptoms. After my appointment, when returning to the condo, this time I felt the symptoms as I was pulling into the parking lot. It was accumulating. I had planned staying another night because of the 10 hour drive home but I knew I needed to get out of there and I cancelled my second night. On the drive home, I felt pressure in my head come on and then go over and over. I don’t remember how many hours into the trip I noticed this, but the interstate was lined with cell towers, and I noticed that the onset of symptoms was as I was approaching each cell tower, and as I drove farther away from each one, symptoms would dissipate. The symptoms got more intense the longer I drove. When I approached the last city I had to drive through the symptoms started to get extreme. Intense pressure, pain, and I felt like a drunk driver on the road. I started crying and trying desperately to get through the city and to the other side praying my symptoms would stop when I got through, and they did. After that I have never fully recovered. I avoid EMF’s as much as possible, but complete avoidance is impossible. The longer I am away from EMF’s, the more time I can go without symptoms upon exposure. At one point a few years in I thought perhaps I had recovered from it, and I wanted to test it, so I booked a hotel in Kansas City for two nights. The first full day I felt fine and I enjoyed walking paths and other things the city has to offer, but the second day I woke up and was lethargic, and not capable of really doing anything. I can no longer make the drive to Kansas City, where my doctor is so I had to start seeing him remotely because of it. I live in a barn loft in the country and have no wifi in the barn, and the metal barn blocks the wifi signal from the house, but I am exposed when I garden in the yard (that’s become my purpose because I can’t do anything else… I was a career prosecutor before). The house is remote enough there are no other wifi signals present. When this condition started, I could no longer obtain my CLE hours because they are all offered in hotel buildings with wifi and hundreds of cell phones. I started registering as non-practicing. The first few years I was hopeful I could overcome this condition and become active again, but a couple years ago I had to give up and changed my status to disabled. I have been looking for my own house for years, but can’t find one. Because of this condition, I require a house with no wifi signals from neighboring houses and no cell towers nearby. This requires a substantial amount of land, and preferably large trees surrounding the property because trees very effectively block EMFs. Housing has roughly tripled in price in KS for the type of properties I require, and even though I was frugal before I became disabled and saved as much as possible, I can’t afford what this condition requires for housing, so I am stuck here. I consulted Dr. Neil Nathan, who has treated people with EHS, and he told me the only thing he has seen work is for someone to get completely isolated and away from all EMF’s 100% of the time, and it can take a year or more before they recover. I have been unable to find such a place, but where I am is the best I can do. I have studied this for years in trying to regain my health. I believe it affects everyone adversely, just in varying degrees, and the vast majority of people are unaware that their brain fog, disrupted sleeping, word finding difficulty etc. are being caused by EMF’s. Even if they are made aware and start to suspect it, they are unwilling to give up exposure because of the addictive nature of the devices, and also the impossibility of avoiding exposure even if you are willing.

Proposes microbiome, mineral and other mechanisms of sensitivity and suggests research on susceptibility,…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I read a case that I also sent as an earlier comment about someone mildening their EMF sensitivity through usage of Reishi mushrooms. I believe EMF sensitivity has to do with a mixture of the microbiome, mineral composition in the body, body pathways for transfer of various molecules and possibly as Gerald Pollack has mentioned Wifi might influence on EZ water (upcoming term in biology). This could be some of why people react differently at different times and to different frequencies and environmental exposure. Because they have different body states, at the smaller levels and compositions. There are also EMF fron different sources. Smart meters, power lines, routers, phones, "dirty electricity" as some call it from house wires, phone towers, power stations. People could react different to them at times. Sometimes the EMF can bounce around inside houses and electronics too and target in other ways. About EMF and mold. Mold grows or is inhibited by different frequencies. It is likely similar with other life forms and parts of life forms. Just like we can receive sunlight and it has influence on our blood sugar, nitric oxide, vitamin D levels, brain neurons and more. This means it is likely EMF can influence some "channels" in some people. Or that "frequency resistance" varies from person to person or by health state. Here are some suggestions that might help lower the EMF rates in society. - Better software can improve the call and data transmission without increasing EMF. Through using compressed data, codecs, agreements on "this data id equals that data", like putting together pre-made factory parts saves time and can be done from an instruction manual, some of this is already done but we might optimize and do it further across software. - Data that isnt in a rush to be sent, can be sent via wire when possible. - Cables can be shielded better. - We might be able to use radio frequencies that cause less issues in life forms, for example like how background radiation from space doesnt cause as much interaction seemingly. Here are some suggestions that might look into why some people are more sensitive than others and what can be done about it. - Comprehensive microbiome and mineral tests. I suggest to consult with specialized labs and maybe naturopaths too. As people reach out to them at times when the allopathic system doesnt help. It is possible that EMF is worse in people who have digestive issues, too many or too little of certain minerals. - Tests with mushroom exposure, to see if certain species helps people with EMF sensitivity feel worse or better. There might be help to find in anecdotes already shared online such as the one with Reishi mushrooms. LLMs could help search for it. And TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Ayurveda (holistic Indian medicine) might have ideas for it. Also ancient European and Middle Eastern medicine might have ideas for it. - There is likely an overlap between the EMF and mold health issues since EMF influences mold growth.

Attributes family neurological, respiratory and cardiac symptoms to smart-meter exposure, describes parti…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a family member and myself concerned. My family and I believe that our health has been negatively affected by the radiofrequency radiation emitted from smart meters. Throughout a period of several months, we developed new and worsening symptoms, including unexplainable severe headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and anxiety. I began experiencing unexplained anxiety and shortness of breath, which led to an asthma diagnosis. During the same period, I also developed unexplained dizziness and tinnitus. Since medical professionals were unable to identify the underlying cause, I received a diagnosis of Meniere's syndrome. Additionally, I noticed that my breathing problems and dizziness became worse when I lay down in my bedroom. I found myself feeling anxious about going to bed. Furthermore, my spouse has been experiencing cardiac palpitations and continues to require ongoing medical supervision. At that time, it was difficult to understand why these symptoms showed slight improvement during our stay at my friend's place. Following an unexpected decline in health, we discovered that a smart meter had been installed on our house's exterior wall, positioned adjacent to our bedroom without our awareness or authorization. We made the request to revert to an analog meter, the utility company declined to make the change due to their established policy and only offered us the option to opt out of the digital system. Opting out of a smart meter, covering the wall and window with some anti-radiation shields, and moving out of the bedroom provided some improvement in our symptoms. The intense dizziness, breathing complications, and anxiety feelings gradually diminished. Despite these considerations, the radiation from smart meters—which is similar to radiation from other wireless devices, wireless transmission systems, and other infrastructure we cannot control—still has a big impact on our daily lives. We believe that radiofrequency radiation weaknes immune system function, subsequently leading to physical decline, reduced overall health, and the potential development of chronic conditions. My spouse and I both still experience chronic headaches, sleep disruption, fatigue, continuous tinnitus, worsening allergic reactions including asthma and respiratory difficulties . Following maxillofacial surgery, I had a titanium mesh implanted many years ago. I had no issues before a smart meter was put on our house wall. We believe that following RF exposure, I developed maxillofacial sinus complications," Circumferential mucosal thickening of the right maxillary sinus with a central nodular thickening with a coarse calcification suggestive of a mycetoma" that necessitated surgical treatment. After that, since doctors haven't been able to find the cause of the pain, we believe that exposure to RF radiation may be contributing to the persistent pain I still experience in the side of my face where the titanium mesh is located, which occasionally becomes quite severe, radiating to the head.  Furthermore, as a person who is very sensitive, I have seen more problems with electrical sensitivity and unusual skin feelings. Even though I only wear clothes made from natural materials and have eliminated all plastic from my home environment, these issues continue to happen. We believe there are significantly more individuals like us who have experienced regular exposure to radiofrequency radiation in their daily lives and subsequently experienced health deterioration. We strongly believe that daily exposure to wireless radiation is contributing to the acceleration of health problems across all populations. We encourage you to explore the available evidence and research on this important matter. My family and I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. My family and I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

An EMF consultant describes work and access limitations among affected people and requests systematic rev…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Docket: HHS-OASH-2026-0397 FR Doc No: 2026-19252 Comment Submitted By: Rex Funk Affiliation: EMF Consultant / Member of the Public Attachments: Three peer-reviewed studies (see attached PDFs) To the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health: I am submitting this comment as an individual with direct personal experience of adverse health effects from radiofrequency (RF) exposure, and now as an EMF consultant working with others who share these experiences. BACKGROUND AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE In 2018 I became aware of negative health reactions to RF exposure from cell phones, Wi-Fi, and related wireless sources. I learned to reduce my exposure and to avoid exposures in public spaces. This has been a tormenting experience and it remains very difficult to function in mainstream society, because RF sources are now essentially everywhere. I am unable to work in typical job settings. I now work as an EMF consultant helping people who are also noticing reactions to RF and other forms of electromagnetic fields (EMF). Some of my clients are even more sensitive than I am and have suffered greatly — unable to function normally in society or even in their own homes — simply because these devices were assumed safe without proper consideration of true safety. They must spend thousands of dollars to identify and mitigate environmental stressors, and many cannot afford to improve their situation at all. RESPONSES TO SPECIFIC RFI QUESTIONS 1. Effects below current exposure limits. The assumption that heating (thermal) effects are the only relevant biological mechanism is not acceptable. Thousands of independent, peer-reviewed studies report biological effects beyond thermal mechanisms, and this literature has been largely ignored in U.S. policy. I have attached three such studies for your consideration. HHS should commission systematic reviews of this body of evidence rather than relying solely on assessments that discount it. 2. Sensitive populations. Children are being enabled to grow up in a sea of RF radiation without adequate study of possible effects on the developing body. This should not be tolerated. Dedicated pediatric research, and precautionary measures in schools pending that research, should be a funding priority. 3. People with electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS). Federal research agendas should include affected individuals as a defined population: clinical characterization, diagnostic criteria, disability accommodations, and access to low-EMF environments. Many people like my clients cannot work, attend school, or use public services. 4. Practical guidance and mitigation access. HHS should publish plain- language exposure-reduction guidance and consider how to make assessment and mitigation affordable. At present, relief is available only to those who can pay thousands of dollars out of pocket. 5. Research priorities. Highest priorities in my view: long-term studies of chronic low-level exposure; personal dosimetry reflecting real- world use; studies of children and adolescents; and mechanistic work on non-thermal biological effects. I support transparent, science-informed decision-making and urge HHS to treat the existing independent literature — and the lived experience of thousands of affected people — with the seriousness it deserves. Respectfully submitted, Rex Funk Woodstock, NY rex@emfcheck.com 845-853-6060
