Long-term residential magnetic field exposure and neurodegenerative
disease mortality: An 18-year nationwide cohort study in Switzerland
2026
A B S T R A C T
Background: Epidemiological evidence on the association between extremely low-frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MF) exposure and neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) remains inconsistent. Few population-based studies using exposure from high-voltage power lines (HVPL) have found mixed findings, and none have yet considered exposure from railway lines.
Methods: We followed 3,555,064 adults from the Swiss National Cohort (2001–2018), contributing 55.4 million person-years. Long-term ELF-MF exposure from HVPL (50 Hz) and railway lines (16.7 Hz) was modelled using validated proximity models and updated over four intervals (2001–2005, 2006–2010, 2011–2015, 2016–2018). Long-term ELF-MF exposure was calculated as a time-weighted average exposure over 10-year windows preceding each interval. Cox proportional hazards models estimated hazard ratios (HRs) for mortality from Alzheimer’s disease (AD), other types of dementia (OTD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease (PD), and multiple sclerosis (MS), adjusting for sociodemographic and environmental co-exposures.
Results: During follow-up, 146,655 NDD deaths occurred. Less than 1% of the population was exposed to long-term ELF-MF ≥0.3 µT from HVPL and 2.4% from railway lines. HVPL exposure was positively associated with mortality from AD (HR per 1 µT increase in exposure =1.54; 95% CI: 1.23–1.92) and OTD (HR =1.31; 95% CI: 1.13–1.52). Associations for railway exposure were weaker and attenuated after adjusting for environmental co-exposures. No associations were observed for ALS, PD, or MS.
Conclusions: Long-term ELF-MF exposure was associated with higher dementia mortality risk in the general population, but not with ALS, PD, or MS. Causal inference remains limited by the absence of established biological mechanisms.

The Possible Role of Contact Current
in Cancer Risk Associated With
Residential Magnetic Fields
2000
Residential electrical wiring safety practices in the US result in the possibility of a small voltage (up
to a few tenths of a volt) on appliance surfaces with respect to water pipes or other grounded
surfaces. This ``open circuit voltage'' (VOC) will cause ``contact current'' to flow in a person who
touches the appliance and completes an electrical circuit to ground. This paper presents data
suggesting that contact current due to VOC is an exposure that may explain the reported associations
of residential magnetic fields with childhood leukemia. Our analysis is based on a computer model
of a 40 house (single-unit, detached dwelling) neighborhood with electrical service that is
representative of US grounding practices. The analysis was motivated by recent research suggesting
that the physical location of power lines in the backyard, in contrast to the street, may be relevant to
a relationship of power lines with childhood leukemia. In the model, the highest magnetic field
levels and VOCs were both associated with backyard lines, and the highest VOCs were also
associated with long ground paths in the residence. Across the entire neighborhood, magnetic field
exposure was highly correlated with VOC (r 0.93). Dosimetric modeling indicates that, compared
to a very high residential level of a uniform horizontal magnetic field (10 mT) or a vertical electric
field (100 V/m), a modest level of contact current ( 18 mA) leads to considerably greater induced
electric fields (> 1 mV/m) averaged across tissue, such as bone marrow and heart. The correlation of
VOC with magnetic fields in the model, combined with the dose estimates, lead us to conclude that
VOC is a potentially important exposure with respect to childhood leukemia risks associated with
residential magnetic fields. These findings, nonetheless, may not apply to residential service used in
several European countries or to the Scandinavian studies concerned with populations exposed to
magnetic fields from overhead transmission lines. Bioelectromagnetics 21:538±553, 2000.

A Narrative Review on the Influence of Electromagnetic Fields
Below 100 kHz on the Endocrine System
2026
Abstract
Background: Extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs), generated
mainly by power infrastructure and household devices, have raised scientific interest
due to their potential impact on the endocrine system. Animal research consistently shows
effects on melatonin secretion, stress hormone levels, thyroid activity, and reproductive
function—largely mediated by oxidative stress and calcium ion imbalance. In contrast,
human studies remain inconsistent, often hindered by methodological limitations and
insufficient exposure characterization. Objective: This review synthesizes experimental
and epidemiological studies examining low-frequency electromagnetic field exposure
(≤100 kHz) and its influence on hormonal regulation. Methods: A bibliometric analysis
highlights focused interest on specific endocrine targets, particularly the pineal gland.
Importantly, many experimental studies use field strengths above those found near high-
voltage power lines, limiting direct applicability. Conclusions: While a definitive causal
link has not been established, the widespread exposure to low-frequency electromagnetic
fields justifies precautionary considerations. Several important research gaps remain, many
of which are identified in this review. The topic of low-frequency electromagnetic field
effects on the endocrine system requires more rigorous, long-term human studies with
accurate exposure assessment.

Mobile telephony radiation exerts genotoxic action and significantly
enhances the effects of gamma radiation in human cells
2024
Abstract. I previously reported chromosomal damage in human peripheral blood lymphocytes
(HPBLs) induced by: a) mobile telephony (MT) electromagnetic fields (EMFs)/electromagnetic
radiation (EMR), b) a high caffeine dose, and c) the combination of the two stressors. HPBLs
from the same subjects exposed to gamma radiation at doses 0.1, 0.3, or 0.5 Gy, displayed more
aberrations than those exposed to MT EMFs or the high caffeine dose in a dose-dependent
manner. When the cells exposed to these gamma radiation doses were pre-exposed to a single
15-min MT EMF exposure, the number of aberrations increased significantly more than the
sum number of aberrations induced by the individual stressors in all subjects. Thus, MT EMF
exposure at a power density ~136 times below the latest International Commission on Non-
Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) exposure limit, apart from the fact that it is genotoxic
by itself, significantly enhanced the genotoxic action of gamma radiation. Since gamma radiation
at similar doses is applied for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, people should be aware of the
increased risk during treatment periods. Comparison of the genotoxic action between MT EMF
and gamma radiation shows that the ICNIRP limits are, at least, ~4.5×104 times less stringent
than the limits for gamma radiation.

Mobile phone affects cerebral blood flow
in humans
2006
Abstract
Mobile phones create a radio-frequency electromagnetic field (EMF) around them when in use, the
effects of which on brain physiology in humans are not well known. We studied the effects of a
commercial mobile phone on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) in healthy humans using positron
emission tomography (PET) imaging. Positron emission tomography data was acquired using a
double-blind, counterbalanced study design with 12 male subjects performing a computer-
controlled verbal working memory task (letter 1-back). Explorative and objective voxel-based
statistical analysis revealed that a mobile phone in operation induces a local decrease in rCBF
beneath the antenna in the inferior temporal cortex and an increase more distantly in the prefrontal
cortex. Our results provide the first evidence, suggesting that the EMF emitted by a commercial
mobile phone affects rCBF in humans. These results are consistent with the postulation that EMF
induces changes in neuronal activity.

My name is Brittany Harris my anatomy has gone through years of torture from scalar ways and radio frequencies, and subliminal messaging. It started in year 2016 and got way worse in year 2022. My face is constantly being burned, my lower belly regions, genitals are nonstop targeted by these weapons. I've cried for help every day , so far I haven't found anything to block or shield my anatomy from being targeted by these waves, and lasers.
These systems are being used to attack innocent Americans all across the county in a targeted operation. We’re being lied to about the health effects of low intensity, long duration, exposure to EMF, EF, radio, and microwave radiation. Parts of the federal government are either complicit or assisting in these attacks against Targeted Individuals and their families
I had began receiving Havana Syndrome like symptoms upon receiving my equipment from the Pittsburgh CDC location for a job as a contractor at the CDC. I experienced symptoms related to psychosis and felt that I was a targeted individual - someone who experiences V2K and is harassed by a mob of people. My router was acting funny as well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09G5W9R6R?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title - and I began receiving odd search results through linked router. I was able to work fulltime as a contractor but due to the work environment as well as my brief psychosis but somewhat believe I was being studied. I previously had a galaxy s20 I believe as well as Iphone 13 max, both 5G related phones in my tenure as a contractor there. I never received treatment and symptoms relieved after quitting the position.
