Reports possible phone-related sensory and digestive symptoms and proposes systematic studies of RF effec…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Comment on: Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure (HHS–OASH–2026–0397) Intro: The purpose of this comment is to both share my experiences and suggest new RF/EMF research priorities. Personal experiences: I have experienced several health effects that may be tied to mobile phone usage. While using a 4g phone to connect to the Internet I have experienced the following: numbness in the fingers of each hand, digestive disturbances after holding the phone near my abdominal area for extended periods of time, a sensation of warm-tingling in my thigh and groin area when the phone was set on automatic update and carried in my front pocket, and irritability at times following using the device. I have also noticed irritability in others such as family members or coworkers after device use. I believe the effects I have experienced personally or noticed in others have a biological basis and aren't just psychosomatic. Future research: I have an advanced biology degree and have been interested in following the RF/EMF debate for years. I am aware that some research suggests no RF/EMF health effects. However, other research has concluded there are enough measurable health effects to warrant additional studies (1,2,3). I would like to suggest a research area that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) may not have considered. I believe HHS funding of the research area below would greatly advance our understanding of RF/EMF health effects. Research Priority 1: Effects of RF/EMF on the Human Microbiome. Background: The human Microbiome is a mixture of body inhabiting microorganisms. These microorganisms outnumber human cells by a factor of 10 and a factor of 150 when comparing the number of bacterial genes to human genes (4). The Microbiome has and still is being researched to understand its influence on disease states, mental health, intelligence, and other behaviors (5,6,7). Research has shown RF/EMF fields can also exert influence on bacterial growth characteristics, gene expression and gut metabolite formation (8,9). Thus, RF/EMF interactions with the human Microbiome may influence human health, intelligence, mental illness, and other behaviors. Areas for study: It would be helpful to: I. Systematically research and catalog changes in gene expression when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Especially gene expression of gut microbes.) Ii. Systematically research and catalog any epigenetic changes that occur when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Studying the epigenetic changes may also allow a way to determine past exposures to RF/EMF fields.) Iii. Systematically research and catalog metabolite alterations when the human Microbiome is exposed to RF/EMF fields. (Especially any metabolites that would influence mental or physical health.) Alleges decades of nonconsensual electromagnetic monitoring and harassment, and proposes using measuremen…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
comment in pdf; https://www.regulations.gov/comment/AHRQ-2025-0001-0970 [ July 2025 ] to:  Honorable Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Secretary, United States Department of Health and Human Services. Thank you for attempting to bring the federal government to care about the effects of electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic signals upon the health, and well being, and quality of life, of citizens. In July 2025, I participated in your Public Comment period concerning any HHS regulations that need review or change. Please, I welcome your sincere follow up with that. I hope that you have reach out to have a diverse panel of ordinary citizens who reviewed those Public Comments, and developed a report for you as to some (many) issues, in their opinion, where Policy Changes in HHS policies would simply make the U.S. an good a nation as we can be. ----------- Question 2.: I am writing to you in my capacity as one of the (300 to) 500 to 2000 or more complaining victims of the widely alleged illegal U.S. Government program of Ongoing non-consensual human testing, which subjects invididual victims, to day and night, very well-developed, advanced-technology, electromagnetic-signals monitoring and harassment/assault of the human body and brain. The well developed, real time, detailed, brain and full body neurological monitoring is now about 35 old, since about 1990 - 1991 (or perhaps a little earlier). In particular, I am a victim of interactive, day and night, monitoring and harassment for over 36 years. You should understand that because this technology is so detailed, and so well developed, it is likely that the U.S. government possesses the technology to perform measurements of the impact of electromagnetic fields upon at least the human brain and the human neurological system. This is tax-payer paid for technology, and the public, and members of the Public, should benefit from it being used FOR THE GOOD. Further, you should realize that it is likely possible to decode what sorts of electromagnetic fields or electronic signals, would have more interference with a particular human's brain, and neurological system, than other field or signals which would have significantly less interference with each particular, unique, individual human being. Question 5: n. re: Gaps in Knowledge; It is wonderful for HHS to have a Request for Information to attempt to hear from many citizens regarding the adverse effects of EM fields and EM signals upon human health and well being. The government needs to develop very large or even 'Big' data, to better be able to study this matter. 1) there are many breakthroughs in science that come from advances in measurement, and/or the availability of newly advanced measurement and sensing devices.  There needs to be an infrastructure of equipment, and standards/protocols for using such equipment.      2)  very importantly,

Reports family tinnitus, sleep and fatigue changes after a nearby tower appeared while acknowledging caus…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public and a parent. With the proliferation of 5G towers across the country, without public input or feedback, we suddenly found ourselves living with a large tower across the street from our home. After a few months, I noticed my tinnitus getting worse within the house, while my wife's sleep patterns became more erratic and she was waking up much more in the night and feeling less rested in the morning. She said it wasn't because she was suddenly worrying about things more. My daughter also began frequently complaining how tired she was in the morning even after a full night's sleep. Her bedroom sits in direct line of sight with the tower across the street. Though all these events don't prove 5G is causing them, the timing is significant and many others across the country have experienced similar things and even much worse things. Is it all in our heads? The research the FCC is relying on is outdated. Meanwhile, much new research suggests continuous exposure to non-ionizing radiation can, in fact, be harmful. HHS needs to consider all relevant, current data and commission new studies. Nothing less than the health and well-being of all of us is at stake as this technology continues to expand unbounded with almost no controls, and almost no concern for public health. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a parent and concerned member of the public. Living in NYC, we are already bombarded with exposure. Especially having a child, they are even more susceptible to all these EMF’s & RF’s around us. It affects their developing brains.

Quotes a retrospective study associating cancer incidence among teachers with high-frequency voltage tran…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18512243/ "A new electromagnetic exposure metric: high frequency voltage transients associated with increased cancer incidence in teachers in a California school" "Abstract Background: In 2003 the teachers at La Quinta, California middle school complained that they had more cancers than would be expected. A consultant for the school district denied that there was a problem. Objectives: To investigate the cancer incidence in the teachers, and its cause. Method: We conducted a retrospective study of cancer incidence in the teachers' cohort in relationship to the school's electrical environment. Results: Sixteen school teachers in a cohort of 137 teachers hired in 1988 through 2005 were diagnosed with 18 cancers. The observed to expected (O/E) risk ratio for all cancers was 2.78 (P = 0.000098), while the O/E risk ratio for malignant melanoma was 9.8 (P = 0.0008). Thyroid cancer had a risk ratio of 13.3 (P = 0.0098), and uterine cancer had a risk ratio of 9.2 (P = 0.019). Sixty Hertz magnetic fields showed no association with cancer incidence. A new exposure metric, high frequency voltage transients, did show a positive correlation to cancer incidence. A cohort cancer incidence analysis of the teacher population showed a positive trend (P = 7.1 x 10(-10)) of increasing cancer risk with increasing cumulative exposure to high frequency voltage transients on the classroom's electrical wiring measured with a Graham/Stetzer (G/S) meter. The attributable risk of cancer associated with this exposure was 64%. A single year of employment at this school increased a teacher's cancer risk by 21%. Conclusion: The cancer incidence in the teachers at this school is unusually high and is strongly associated with high frequency voltage transients, which may be a universal carcinogen, similar to ionizing radiation."

A retired physician urges precautionary federal review, cites studies on cancer and other health effects,…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am a retired integrative medicine physician. After board certifications in Internal Medicine and Anesthesia and two decades of practice in Anesthesia, I went into Integrative Medicine to recover my own health and to help address the root causes of the increasing burden of chronic diseases. Thank you for this opportunity to comment. Most regulatory agencies have betrayed the public trust (and our health) by failing to adhere to the Precautionary Principle. Industry has been allowed to proceed without providing evidence of safety. There are over 1000 studies on the harms of Electro Magnetic Fields, the abstracts of which are catelogued by Green Med Info at https://greenmedinfo.com/problematic-action/electromagnetic-field-harms?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email AND yet, the FCC continues to ignore a 2021 court order to update its Electromagnetic Field safety studies. Meanwhile, rollout continues on 5G, 6G, satellite, IoT, smart meters cell towers, and other sources of EMF exposure. The peer-reviewed record on 5G, 6G, satellite, IoT and smart-meter exposures is not adequate for safety assessment (Simkó & Mattsson, Int J Environ Res Public Health 2019, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31540320/, concluded available studies "do not provide adequate and sufficient information for a meaningful safety assessment"). This is a gap. This is definitely not reassurance!(https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34047144/; https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34243228/); Balmori, Sci Total Environ 2015 (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25747364/). Since the HHS, through the FDA is the agency that is positioned to supply the health-science information that the court found missing, I ask for a federal evidence review that holds agencies and industry to the Precautionary Principle. ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6034947/ "Abstract Background and aims This study aims to examine the mediating effects of insomnia on the associations between problematic Internet use, including Internet addiction (IA) and online social networking addiction (OSNA), and depression among adolescents. Methods A total of 1,015 secondary school students from Guangzhou in China participated in a cross-sectional survey. Levels of depression, insomnia, IA, and OSNA were assessed using the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Young’s Diagnostic Questionnaire, and Online Social Networking Addiction Scale, respectively. Logistic regression models were fit to test the associations between IA, OSNA, insomnia, and depression. The mediation effects of insomnia were tested using Baron and Kenny’s strategy. Results The prevalence of depression at moderate level or above (CES-D ≥ 21), insomnia, IA, and OSNA were 23.5%, 37.2%, 8.1%, and 25.5%, respectively. IA and OSNA were significantly associated with depression (IA: AOR = 2.79, 95% CI: 1.71, 4.55; OSNA: AOR = 3.27, 95% CI: 2.33, 4.59) and insomnia (IA: AOR = 2.83, 95% CI: 1.72, 4.65; OSNA: AOR = 2.19, 95% CI: 1.61, 2.96), after adjusting for significant background factors. Furthermore, insomnia partially mediated 60.6% of the effect of IA on depression (Sobel Z = 3.562, p < .002) and 44.8% of the effect of OSNA on depression (Sobel Z = 3.919, p < .001), respectively. Discussion The high prevalence of IA and OSNA may be associated with increased risk of developing depression among adolescents, both through direct and indirect effects (via insomnia). Findings from this study indicated that it may be effective to develop and implement interventions that jointly consider the problematic Internet use, insomnia, and depression."

Young people, adolescents and children in Sweden have largee increase in sleep issues. Screen usage and RF mentioned. https://www.mdpi.com/2079-9721/14/1/25 "Increasing Numbers of Persons with Sleeping Problems in Sweden" "Abstract Objectives: This study investigated sleeping problems in the Swedish population based on the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare’s national patient register on numbers of patients in specialized outpatient care diagnosed with codes for sleeping problems. Methods: Numbers of patients per year and per 100,000 inhabitants in various age groups: 0–4, 5–19, 20–39, 40–59, and 60+ years diagnosed each year between 2001 and 2024 with the ICD codes G47 (sleep disorders) or F51 (non-organic sleep disorders) as main diagnosis were assessed. Results: The highest increase for sleep disorders was seen among children, adolescents, and young adults. All results are given per 100,000 persons. In the age group 0–4 years, the numbers of sleep disorders (G47) increased from 41.5 in 2001 to 215.8 in 2024. The corresponding results in the age group 5–19 years were 13.8 and 235.6, respectively. In the age group 20–39 years, 40.4 were diagnosed in 2001 and 220.9 in 2024. For subjects aged 40–59 years, 169.5 were diagnosed in 2001 and 362.8 in 2024, and for persons aged 60+ years, 116.4 were diagnosed in 2001 and 322.9 in 2024. No major changes in the numbers of persons with F51, non-organic sleep disorders, were observed. Conclusions: Sleeping problems can be caused by several factors; however, the rapid increase in recent years has temporally coincided with an increase in the public’s exposure to microwave radiofrequency (RF) radiation and increasing use of screens. RF radiation and use of screens may negatively impact sleep."
