An American living in Japan describes EHS, relocation from Tokyo, shielding and restrictions on social pa…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a researcher, environmentalist and advocate for persons with the functional impairment known as electrosensitivity.who has experienced it herself. My research has documented biological and environmental effects from RF sources such as smart electricity meters and 5G transmissions. I am a member of Life-Environmental Network, a Japanese NGO advocating for the rights of persons with electrosensitivity and multiplechemical sensitivity. I am a US citizen living abroad. I am attaching a summary of my observations on the introduction of smart meters and my full report on changes in flora and fauna coinciding with the introduction of 5G service in the area I currently reside in. It is important to note that for people with electyrosensitivity, including myself, the world where we can safely conduct our activities has become increasingly narrow. We had to move out of Tokyo to a rural area, in particular for my husband's health, but I also find it hard to tolerate the environment in large cities.I've had to install RF-shielding material at home, and can no longer enjoy eating at restaurants that have introduced wireless ordering equipment. The electrosensitive have to limit their time at public meetings, and many of them cannot tolerate computer equipment enough to participate on line, so our voices are heard infrequently, and many people who know about the problem assume it has been solved because they're not hearing from these people. Over the years, many people I've known with electrosensitivity have died or gone missing. In February 2020, a group of the affected patients assembled in Tokyo to talk with the ministries involved in health and telecommunications. They described their difficulties, including the social stigma they face, and they asked for a "leper colony" where they could live with others similarly affected and recover their health. Then COVID hit and no one could meet with anyone else, and it was all forgotten. This was Japan, but the people affected in other countries, including the US still exist and still need help. I hope their needs can be taken into consideration.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a person who has been personally affected by this exposure. I am 73 years old, and have been suffering from health issues, mostly digestive, since I was 50. In my health journey I finally found a naturopathic doctor who knew how to help me about 5 years ago. After making many changes to reduce my exposure to toxins in my environment, there came a point that she told me that she told me that my biggest obstacle to health was now wireless radiation and that she would not be able to help me further until I addressed my exposure to EMFs. That was the first time I even heard of this. She put me in touch with an expert who guided me in the purchase of a special router that goes into standby mode if Wi-Fi was turned off on all devices and the purchase of a meter to detect exposures. I also hard-wired all devices that I could and turned off Wi-Fi settings at night. I stopped using the microwave completely when I saw how much radiation it emitted. I bought radiation blocking covers for our cell phones and stopped using earbuds. I was fortunate that my condo is not located near a cell phone tower but because I am in a condo, I am affected by my neighbors somewhat. After these changes, I noticed a big difference in my ability to sleep through the night. On nights that my husband forgot to turn his cell phone settings off, I felt my heart pounding at night and when I got up, invariably found that one of his devices had not been turned off. As I get healthier inside, I find I am much more sensitive to these exposures, which are getting stronger and stronger as technology evolves. This is such an important issue, and most people don’t know anything about it and/or don’t believe that companies would be allowed to sell products that are harmful to human life. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals, families, health care providers, researchers and scientists with an opportunity finally be heard on this critical public health issue.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a pet owner. In 2020 when they went live with 5G in my area, 5 out of 9 cats in my household starting having focal seizures. While I don't have proof that it was caused by 5G implementation, I am highly suspicious due to the fact that so many started having them at the same time. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human and animal health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a patient. Wireless radiation affects me every day of my life. I have to restrict time on the cell phone, computer, and need to avoid areas outside with too much emf's. This is an illness of hypersensitivity to environmental factors including emfs. I have had this since 1990 and too much emf makes me sick and weak. It is hard to avoid because it is so prevalent everywhere. I have to retreat to my home where I have less exposure and can recover. Each time the cell phones change to a higher G it gets worse. If Cell towers were too near my home it would have devastating health affects. It is imperative that HHS address this issue. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

A UK commenter reports severe EHS, cognitive and physical symptoms, lost work and relationships, and relo…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Questions 3, 11, 16 and 18 – Lived experience of EHS I am submitting this response from the UK as an individual with EHS. I am in my mid-fifties and developed EHS in my forties. It became severe enough to fundamentally change where and how I live and work. Q3 – Personal experience My symptoms varied with the type, intensity and duration of exposure, and my sensitivity appeared cumulative. Severe reactions included intense headaches progressing to migraine-like episodes, extreme sensitivity to light and sound, inability to eat, feeling physically out of balance, weakness and exhaustion. I could be confined to bed for 2–3 days before gradually recovering. A significant source of RF/EMF exposure was a cell tower in the paddock I rented for my horses. Over time it carried equipment from approximately six providers. For years I spent around five hours daily within 100 metres of it. Once highly sensitive, I reduced this to about two hours daily, the minimum needed to care for my horses. I also experienced severe abdominal cramps, particularly in association with smart meters, episodes of slurred speech and serious cognitive problems. My short-term memory could disappear to the point that I had no recollection of what I had just said. I sometimes became defensive or unusually irritable when challenged about things I could not remember. At my most sensitive I could not sit in front of a computer screen or be near a mobile phone without symptoms. When cumulative exposure was high, even proximity to a phone in flight mode could sometimes trigger symptoms. I became unable to think clearly, was physically weak and exhausted, and for years could not work or earn a living. I could no longer attend my children's school meetings, shop, visit the doctor or dentist without exposure becoming a problem, or socialise normally. I lost almost all my friendships because I could no longer visit people's homes or meet in wireless public environments. EHS also placed considerable strain on my marriage and has played a significant part in its breakdown. By 2019 I was living with profound fatigue virtually 24/7 and my quality of life had become unbearable. My family and I relocated from Hampshire to rural Mid Wales specifically so I could create an extremely low-EMF environment and attempt to recover. For approximately four years much of my life was devoted to rebuilding my health, strength and stamina. It was a very slow process, but living with greatly reduced exposure allowed me eventually to begin working again. I now operate a business from home. Although considerably stronger, I have not returned to my former life. I generally cannot spend more than around half a day in higher-exposure environments before needing to return home to recover. Exposure affects my nervous system. I use breathwork, particular foods and physical exercises, which help me manage temporarily but do not remove my sensitivity. I still need my very low-exposure home environment, where my body can settle and recover; working with my land and animals also helps me ground. My experience led me to establish The Wireless-Free Farm on our 17.5-acre smallholding in Mid Wales. It is intentionally maintained wireless-free because this remains the environment I need to live and work. We also welcome guests, including people with EHS who struggle to find suitable accommodation. The Wireless-Free Farm is not a lifestyle choice or rejection of technology. It is the practical outcome of the adaptations I had to make to regain a workable life. Q11 & Q16 – Sensitive populations and research I encourage HHS to investigate people with EHS as a potentially sensitive population. Few genuinely low-exposure environments remain, making it difficult for affected people to avoid exposure sufficiently to observe changes. Research should examine cumulative and multiple-source exposure, proximity, duration, pulsed/modulated signals and individual variation, including before and after substantial RF/EMF reduction. People who have reorganised their lives around exposure reduction and low-exposure environments may provide valuable research opportunities. Q18 – Recommendation Please listen carefully to people living with this condition. My experience alone cannot establish scientific causation, but experiences such as mine should not be dismissed because mechanisms remain uncertain. I went from an ordinary, active life to being unable to work, socialise normally or participate fully in society. I had to relocate and redesign my living environment. Reducing my exposure was followed by substantial, although gradual, improvement. Rigorous, independent research is urgently needed. This is not an abstract debate about technology. It affects where we can live, work, travel, receive healthcare, maintain relationships and participate in society.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public. I support people affected by wireless radiation and that's why I believe HHS should address this issue. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. For decades, a silent plague has been woven into the fabric of our lives, eminating from the cell phones in our pockets, to the Wi-Fi in our homes and the cell towers that dot our horizons. The NIH spent ten years and thirty million dollars researching how Electro-Magnetic Radiation affects our bodies and finding DNA Damage, Heart Damage and other serious health risks. The NIH quietly ended the study even though we are exposed to six hundred per cent more EMR's in our homes today than we were ten years ago. No more follow ups, updates or answers from NIH after thirty million taxpayer dollars were simply wasted. If you lost a loved one to a needless automobile or truck crash.due to a distracted driver using a smart phone, you would be very upset. Now the public must push the door wide open and demand more than studies. We must demand a fundemental re-evaulation of our relationship with this technology. Thereby prioritizing human biology over corporate convenience and wireless profits. The invisible assualt must end with truly protective limits. Cellphone use was cited as the distraction in 14% of all distraction-affected fatal traffic crashes in 2024. In these crashes, police reports stated that at least one of the involved drivers was talking on, listening to, or engaged in some other cellphone activity at the time of the crash. According to NHTSA, sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for 5 seconds, which is like driving the length of an entire football field at 55 MPH with your eyes closed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 3,208 people died in distraction-affected crashes in 2024. This is a decrease of about 2% from 3,283 deaths in 2023. The highest percentage of drivers using cellphones in fatal crashes were in the 25-34 age group: 27% of drivers involved in these crashes were using cellphones in some way. Thank you for pursuing this topic, Cynthia Hackman

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a [patient, parent, family member, caregiver, healthcare professional, researcher, advocate, concerned member of the public, or other]. I have walked and biked my dog through many areas for years. Lately, as many more of these wireless devices have been installed on area poles or buildings I payed little attention until my dog started refusing to go near these areas once the devices were activated. I suspect EMF waves so I bought a detector and, sure enough, it pegged out in areas near these devices where my dog freaks out and pulls hard to get away from them. I notice my own body has reactions too. If we are off in the woods, away from frequency emitters everything is fine. However, even in remote areas some of these devices exist. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

Weston A Price Foundation 8:14 AM (11 hours ago) to Weston Link to share: https://www.westonaprice.org/tell-hhs-your-wireless-radiation-story/#gsc.tab=0 The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking public input on the potential adverse health and environmental effects of radiofrequency (RF) radiation, more commonly referred to as wireless radiation. The public comment period runs September 21, 2026 to October 21, 2026. Submit your Comment to HHS by October 21st The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking public input on the potential adverse health and environmental effects of radiofrequency (RF) radiation, more commonly referred to as wireless radiation. The public comment period runs September 21, 2026 to October 21, 2026. This is a critically important opportunity for members of the public, researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, equipment or product manufacturers, organizations, educators and advocacy groups to make their voices heard directly by Secretary Kennedy and the federal agency responsible for protecting the nation’s health. For too long, questions about the health and environmental effects of RF radiation have largely been addressed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), an agency responsible for regulating communications technology and spectrum, rather than through HHS, the federal health agencies with expertise in medicine, biology and public health. HHS wants to hear from you! Share your concerns about RF radiation exposure, including from cell towers near schools, playgrounds, and near your home and workplaces. If you, your child or family member have been negatively affected by RF radiation, we urge you to share your experience. Tell HHS what happened, how such exposure has affected your health or daily life, and why you believe federal health officials need to urgently address this issue. You do not need to have personally experienced health effects from RF radiation to make your voice heard. Family members, health professionals, scientists, advocates and allies can all submit comments urging HHS to address the growing concerns surrounding the public’s ever-increasing exposures to RF radiation, thoroughly examine the evidence, and listen to people who report experiencing RF radiation-related health effects. Please find a sample response, below, to make it easy to submit a comment to HHS, but please personalize it with your own story, professional experience, concerns or message of support. This is our opportunity to make our voices heard and to send HHS a clear message: people across the country are demanding that our nation’s health agencies act now to address RF radiation health and environmental concerns. Submit your comment before October 21, 2026 and tell HHS why this issue matters to you! How to submit a comment: Go to the Write a Comment page. Suggest reading the recommendation there for how to make your comment most effective. Enter your personalized comment about how wireless radiation exposure has impacted you and your family, your patients or communities. You can copy the suggested text below and then personalize it. Note: If your comment is over 5000 characters, you can also upload additional comments. Under the section Tell us about yourself! Sample Text (please copy and personalize) I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of myself. When I lived in town, near over 100 towers, I was exposed to many cell towers and experienced disrupted sleep and brain fog. After I moved to the valley where there are 8 cell towers, these health issues went away. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of how my family are affected. I have a son with special needs that I care for and when he is near wifi in someone's home he gets anxiety and feels wierd in his head. Also feels off balance. My husband also feels anxious when around cell phones and wifi and gets heart palpitations from these things. I myself get wierd feeling in my face when near wifi and cell phones. Because of this we feel stuck because everyone has wifi in there homes and at least 1 or more cell phones in there homes.
