Reports illness with smartphones, workplace Wi-Fi and 5G, describing inability to work, shop or visit oth…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
In 2011 I bought my first iPhone. I began to feel very ill. When I put the phone down I felt better. I got rid of the phone. I lived my life only being able to use technology in limited ways but it was manageable. In 2019 my workplace updated their WiFi throughout the building and I was no longer able to be inside the building. In 2020 as most 5G was installed, it was the drop that tipped the bucket for the radiation exposure my body could handle and I am no longer able to use a computer, go inside any public buildings with WiFi, homes with WiFi, cars with Bluetooth or be in the vicinity of any type of cell tower. My life is severely limited due to the sea of non-ionizing radiation we live in each day. I cannot work, go shopping, or visit friends or family without severe radiation sickness

Reports decades of electrosensitivity, occupational and environmental exposures, prolonged sick leave and…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am now 62 years old and have been electrosensitive since I was 28, more than half my life. In Sweden, this is silenced, doctors who want to help us get into trouble (for example, with their medical licenses revoked). I don't feel like you get any help. I worked as a computer technician with a great interest in electronics. When I became electrosensitive. When I was working around 1990, I got an NMT mobile phone installed in my car. NMT was a big problem. I became sensitive to all electronics and solvents, etc. I was on sick leave for 17 years. Then I had to start working in gardening and as a school janitor. I got an ABC 80 computer early on, which I used to program a lot. Before I got sick, my mouth was full of amalgam. I lived in an apartment with a printing shop underneath for a few years, and the apartment sometimes smelled of glue. I did my military service on a robot boat with asbestos insulation. And was exposed to a lot of radar. I tanned in a solarium and had a waterbed with sky-high electric fields. For a while, I may have had a mobile antenna outside my office where I worked on the outside of the house. When I was programming in my youth, it sometimes happened that my brain would shut down (mental standstill. Before it broke out, I turned down the brightness on the TV. (contrast) I had a cordless phone in the house where I worked. Someone had it before me and got sick. I don't know what it was from. When I got sick, it was during a course with a lot of computers. It was way too much. I was very sensitive to regular wired phones, which we ended up with. I have a cell phone now but always use the speaker function. I now take antidepressants that dampen the sensitivity. I feel less sensitive to radar and wifi and cell phones today. It was a good thing that NMT was discontinued. I have the most sensitivity to power lines now, apart from all kinds of solvents. It was probably a good thing that they removed the lead in gasoline. I avoid cell phone towers as much as possible and exposing myself to too much. There is a lot more I could cover, but this will have to do. Lennart Ohs Lennart.aahs@gmail.com Stockholm Sweden

I am a Medical Doctor and I treat patients with ElectromagneticHypersensitivity, (EHS). From a fireman sleeping only 60 feet from a cell tower in the firestation, after 13 years, he developed a brain tumor that needed surgery and then a shunt, he developed insomnia and anxiety, he became infertile with a very low sperm count, he got depressed and confused, all thought to be from cell tower non-ionizing radiation exposure.

Reports worsening symptoms around wireless devices and crowded train commutes, eventually leading to resi…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I first noticed a reaction to electromagnetic radiation in 2008. At the time, I was working as an IT manager and was responsible for setting up mobile and wireless devices for employees. I began experiencing a sensation of electrical disturbance or mild electric shock when the devices were held close to my head or body. The sensation was difficult to describe but I would compare it to the feeling of having a “static TV” inside my body. I found it difficult to concentrate, felt nauseous and dizzy when this happened. At the time I had no knowledge of EMF or EMR and ignored the strange sensations. As the years passed, I began noticing these sensations more frequently and with greater intensity, coinciding with the proliferation of cell towers, Wi-Fi and mobile devices. At the time, I knew very little about the potential effects of radiation exposure but I naturally began avoiding it as much as possible. I simply knew that I felt better when I was not in proximity of wireless devices so I used phones and computers connected through wired connections rather than wireless technology. In 2018, after several weeks of commuting to work by train, my reactions to radiation exposure became significantly more severe. Almost overnight, I began experiencing symptoms that developed into chronic fatigue syndrome. During rush hour in Chicago, I observed that train cars were often filled with an estimated 50–75 people actively using mobile phones in each car. This was a striking contrast to my commutes in 2008, when I recall seeing no more than about 10 people using mobile devices in a train car. Over that decade, I had witnessed a dramatic increase in the use of wireless devices in crowded public spaces, while my own symptoms had become progressively more intense. This health issue forced me to take a leave of absence and eventually resign from my position as an IT Manager. My symptoms had become so debilitating that I could no longer fulfill my professional responsibilities or tolerate the daily commute to work. After visiting several doctors, I was told that nothing appeared to be medically wrong with me, as their examinations and tests had not identified any underlying health issues. Despite the severity of my symptoms and the profound impact they had on my ability to work and carry on with daily life, I was left without a clear explanation for what I was experiencing. I began researching my condition independently and came across a TEDx talk on YouTube titled “Wireless Wake-Up Call” by Jeromy Johnson. His presentation resonated deeply with me, as the experiences he described closely mirrored what I had been experiencing. This discovery prompted me to explore grounding as a way to manage my symptoms. After I began grounding, I noticed what felt like an immediate improvement in my condition. Within a few months my chronic fatigue had subsided and I was able to function normally again. Although my chronic fatigue improved significantly, I continued to experience the same sensations when exposed to high levels of electromagnetic fields. Living in Chicago has become increasingly challenging and I have to be selective about the areas I visit. Unfortunately I avoid certain areas of the city, including parts of downtown, where the deployment of 5G towers has saturated the environment with radiation. Thank you for taking the time to consider this important issue. I urge the government to review and update existing safety standards for electromagnetic fields (EMF) and electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure to ensure they reflect the latest scientific research and findings. I believe a more comprehensive, evidence-based approach to evaluating potential health risks is essential to protecting public health and ensuring that safety guidelines keep pace with the rapid expansion of wireless technology.

The commenter describes diagnosed EMR syndrome and exposure-management measures, proposes research on cum…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am responding as a patient, advocate, and concerned member of the public. Ques.3(a)–(g) Personal Experience Six years ago, my environmental health physician diagnosed me with EMR syndrome. My exposures included extensive computer use in college, working in a Wi-Fi-equipped building with computer labs and a Smartboard, making hundreds of photocopies daily, and living near a cell tower. Combined with mold exposure and stress, these factors coincided with years of debilitating illness. Symptoms I have experienced from RF/EMFs include tinnitus, headaches, burning throughout my body, facial burning after watching an iPhone video, gum mucoceles/cysts after cell phone use, tingling teeth/jaw, hip pain while wearing a cordless FM-microphone battery pack, nausea after dental X-rays, and anxiety. I manage symptoms with a low-RF/EMF lifestyle: silver-lined clothing, an RF-shielding canopy when living near a cell tower, an RF Safe cell phone QuantaCase, a BluShield plug-in device, and use corded technology when possible. An EMF building biologist assessed my home with meters and helped reduce exposure. I also take calcium, magnesium, and supplements intended to support glutathione production and replenish minerals. Ques. 11(a), (f), and (g) Sensitive Populations I am particularly concerned about children. The Epoch Times article, How Screen Time Affects Different Organs, by Arsh Sarao (11/1/25), reports that excessive screen time may reduce gray matter in brain areas involved in decision-making and emotional regulation. I have observed irritability, aggression, hyperactivity, and obstinance in children after screen use, and anger, agitation, and depression in adults following wireless exposure. I have noticed calmer behavior after consuming mineral water and calcium-rich foods. These observations deserve further investigation. Ques. 13(f), (j), and (k) Cumulative Exposure Research should assess cumulative close-to-body RF exposure from wireless earbuds, smartwatches, hearing aids, and health monitors, including devices tracking atrial fibrillation and diabetes; some communicate continuously via Bluetooth and smartphones. Consumers should retain the option of analog electric meters instead of RF transmitting smart meters. Landlines do not emit RF and should remain available, with funding to maintain copper lines. Incandescent bulbs should remain an option, and electromagnetic interference from LED/fluorescent lighting should be studied. Ques. 14 Environmental Effect Research should examine possible links between RF/EMF exposure, mold, and mycotoxin illness. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt’s research, referenced in the July 2014 Townsend Letter (attached; p. 10), reportedly states that molds exposed to high EMF levels release up to 600 times more mycotoxins and also proliferate faster. These effects could potentially exacerbate symptoms in individuals already suffering from mold-related illness. Ques. 16 Federal Research Priorities I respectfully urge HHS to review Dr. Andrew Goldsworthy’s "The Biological Effects of Weak Electromagnetic Fields" (attached). Goldsworthy proposes that electromagnetic fields may increase cell-membrane permeability, allowing calcium ions to leak into cells. Calcium regulates nerve signaling, muscle contraction, and inflammation; disrupted balance could affect multiple body systems and explain reported multisystem symptoms. Goldsworthy’s work deserves serious consideration and further study. In addition, The EMF Medical Conference 2021 recordings (see References) provide valuable research and clinical observations from physicians and RF/EMF experts and should be reviewed. Ques. 18 Recommendations I recommend that HHS consider the following: -Promote public service announcements and safer-technology education, especially for children, using Environmental Health Trust materials (see References). -Set school health standards for responsible technology use. -Expand public access to RF/EMF meters and detectors for purchase or rental. -Add EMF building biology tracks to college/university environmental science programs. -Encourage schools, workplaces, hospitals, and residential facilities to use qualified EMF building biologists for assessments and remediation. -Recommend that municipalities employ EMF building biologists to assess cumulative emissions from smart meters, cell towers, and other RF infrastructure. -Investigate exposure-reduction approaches discussed by Goldsworthy, including Balanced Signal Technology and resonance/scalar-frequency methods. -Limit X-rays and other imaging to medical necessity and explore tracking patients’ cumulative imaging exposure. Conclusion I respectfully ask HHS to investigate these concerns with scientific rigor, consider affected individuals’ experiences, and develop practical measures to protect public health while allowing people to make informed choices about technology. Thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences and views.

The commenter proposes heavy-metal-related sensitivity, recommends shielding, wired school phones and bur…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I presume this book has already been recommended, "The Body Electric" However I would like to add a couple personal ideas: In the past, the stereotype of "Tin Foil Hat" has been associated with conspiracy theory. I have wondered, what would make these particular people sensitive to EMF enough to wear tin foil? My thought is that they could have higher heavy metal content in the body that might act like an antenna. This could be from vaccines or from environmental exposures. If mercury ultimately ends up in the brain stem, it would make the tin foil hat even more applicable in blocking signal to the otherwise minimal heavy metals in the body. Even braces have been joked as being able to pick up radio waves. Another idea, I think for this and many other reasons, in home saunas should be subsidized for every American to build with HSA funds. This would also strongly help combat plastics in the body thanks to the personal studies by Bryan Johnson. Another idea, I think every school should be made into a complete Faraday cage, potentially with lead paint under siding to prevent exposure, so that students and teachers are made to be present in class, as well as cut exposure to EMFs in school. I believe it can be argued that it does not serve our children to have in their pockets the most distracting thing of all time during class. I believe in the event of emergencies, old fashioned wired telephones should work just fine. A small addition to that is standardize the books please, there's no reason college education requires buying new editions on old information. Standardize academics and remove extra curriculars, make those into community classes without pay. The classic books need to be in schools again. Wiring in walls could be made into a grid to power the building as well as cage external EMFs with enough grounding, I say this as an aerospace electrician, however every building would need special engineering, and doing so would cost a ton more copper, but could be measured inside of each room with a sensitive RF meter or even an oscilloscope for measuring the wavelengths exposed to, as in The Body Electric, specific frequencies and pulsing matters as well. I may even just recommend the final chapter of the book. Maybe we can control for Russian standards in home/school/work areas. I think home standards could include the use of piling earth alongside sturdy walls as a form of EMF shielding, similar to living underground. This could provide safe EMF exposure at home without the high demand for conductive metal for a faraday cage or lead paint for a complete blockage of EMF fields. I think studies should be done in the wearing of polyester, which generates static electric charge stored on the body. If my instinct is correct, this is bad for the body, as it makes me feel bad until I am grounded by ESD shock. If this is true, we should move towards natural materials. I think trade for more agriculture could improve, I know Ireland has had to throw away excess wool or use it to nourish farm soil rather than sell it. My final suggestion is if we upgrade the grid to provide nuclear power is that we bury the power lines. Europe does this, and I think especially in tornado alley this is not only safer but the EMF exposure is automatically grounded by being under the earth, plus it should be easier to work on. Thank you for reading. I suspect I negatively impacted my health working in electrical testing, operating DITMCO machines for nearly a decade. I wonder if these electric cars will have high EMF production. I also wonder if we should incorporate jewelry that acts as a capacitor so that we never store an ESD charge in our bodies. The book The Body Electric is required reading on this subject. Please, read it.

Reports occupational exposure in telecommunications associated with headaches and concentration difficult…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
As a worker with occupational exposure in the telecommunications industry, it became clear that distancing myself from Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure also removed the negative effects I was experiencing from these devices. The main symptoms I experienced while being exposed to these technologies were difficulty concentrating and extreme headaches that only subsided after a nights sleep. Cell towers and groups of smart meters have proven to be the most dangerous sources that I have found. Wifi will also cause concentration issues that will increase with signal strength, and multipule range extenders. This became obvious during wifi rollouts into retirement homes where the units were installed one after another down all the hallways.

Reports neurological and cardiac symptoms associated with home and hospital wireless exposures, describes…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
In 2012 I noticed symptoms related to emf exposure. Sleeping disorders, heart palpitations, confusion, memory loss. My son, 5 years old at the time, started to act different, running around, making noise and stopped talking. Later on he got diagnosed with autism. My symptoms has now exacerbated with dizziness, headaches, breathing difficulties, muscle aches that comes and goes without any connection to activity. My house is 200 meters from a cellphone tower, I noticed it 15 years ago. I worked in a huge hospital for 20 years and was exposed to Wi-Fi and wireless computers and other equipment plus other peoples cellphones. As people complained about bad connection the hospital put up more and more Wi-Fi range extenders. I stopped working there 5 years ago, I am better but as soon as I go into the city, travel by public transport or go to a sports arena or something similar my symptoms increase and I can’t manage to do anything in the coming days. If I have cold coming on, my emf symptoms multiply tenfold.

Describes disabling symptoms attributed to years working beside a router, resulting job and housing losse…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
Greetings, I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of an individual person. Wireless radiation has affected me in a way that changed my life. For 5 years, between 2007 and 2012, i was in close proximity to a modem/router, working remotely for my employer. At approximately the 4-1/2 year point, I had a lot a symptoms, including fatigue, temporary paralysis (not being able to move or speak), full body jerks, hissing sound in my head (not tinnitus), etc. After many conventional medical tests were done, they found nothing physically wrong and suggested counseling therapy. Although the counseling helped, it wasn't everything. I learned that it is not healthy to be close to a modem/router because of electro-magnetic frequencies, etc. I wish I would have known 5 years earlier! Anyway, I had to give up my good-paying job, which led to having to sell our house, which led to renting, and eventually moving closer to family in another state for support. Reducing exposure to EMF's has helped me to avoid having so many debilitating symptoms. All people need to avoid wireless radiation, and I believe HHS should address this issue for the health & safety of every person in this country. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individual persons and families with an opportunity to be heard!
