I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public. I know people who are sensitive to these types of radiation and having debilitating effects on their health. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Public Comment to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Subject: EMF Sensitivity, Mold Exposure, Genetic Testing, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) Submitted by: Shana Placenti New Hampshire, United States To the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, My name is Shana Placenti, and I am sharing my personal experiences with electromagnetic field (EMF) sensitivity, mold exposure, and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). I have been battling CIRS since 2018, following prolonged exposure to a water-damaged, mold-contaminated home. Over the past eight years, I have experienced severe neurological, cognitive, and physical symptoms that have significantly affected my health and quality of life. Approximately five years ago, I underwent extensive genetic testing involving roughly 200,000 genetic markers. According to the interpretation provided with my results, I was identified as having what the report described as "double EMF sensitivity." When I am around what I believe to be sources of electromagnetic fields, I experience intense buzzing and vibrating sensations throughout my body. At times, it feels as though my entire nervous system is buzzing. These sensations can become extremely uncomfortable and overwhelming, particularly when I am already experiencing neurological symptoms. Following my mold exposure, I experienced severe dizziness, balance disturbances, cognitive difficulties, impaired temperature regulation, and changes in bladder function. At one point, my neurological symptoms were so debilitating that I struggled to walk and maintain my balance. I have also experienced multiple concussions, further complicating my neurological health. I am concerned about whether individuals with chronic inflammatory illnesses following mold exposure may experience heightened sensitivity to other environmental factors, including electromagnetic fields. I am also concerned about the potential relationship between electromagnetic fields and mold-related toxicity. I encourage HHS to investigate whether EMF exposure can influence fungal growth, mycotoxin production, or the biological effects of mold exposure, particularly among individuals living with chronic inflammatory and neurological conditions. I respectfully encourage HHS to investigate possible relationships between EMF exposure, mold-related illness, neurological conditions, and genetic susceptibility. I would particularly welcome research examining whether certain genetic variations are associated with reported EMF sensitivity and whether these associations can be scientifically validated. I also encourage research into the combined effects of environmental exposures on individuals living with complex chronic illnesses. In addition to my personal experiences, I am the founder and administrator of MOLD/CIRS/LYME/TOXINS Healing and Recovery Group, an international Facebook community with more than 7,200 members representing over 50 countries. Through this community, I raise awareness, share educational resources, and provide support for individuals navigating mold exposure, CIRS, Lyme disease, EMF sensitivity, and other environmental health concerns. I have connected with individuals who report symptoms they associate with EMF exposure. These experiences have reinforced my belief that patients deserve to be heard and that their experiences should help inform future research priorities. My purpose in submitting this comment is to share my lived experience and advocate for greater awareness, independent research, and improved understanding of reported environmental sensitivities. I recognize that my genetic report does not independently establish a medically validated diagnosis of EMF sensitivity. However, I believe my experiences raise important questions worthy of further scientific investigation. Thank you for providing Americans with an opportunity to share their experiences. I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. My adult disabled daughter is very electrically sensitive. She started having seizures (an electrical storm in the brain) after Hep B vaccine as a newborn. Since then we’ve mostly managed her seizures through a careful diet. But starting in 2020, she was having grand mal seizures every few weeks or months. This spring we removed the radio in her room which emitted high EMFs and we started turning off Wifi and flipping off the breaker to her room at night. Knock on wood, she hasn’t had a seizure since. Our human bodies are electrical systems. It’s not rocket science to understand that we are sensitive to frequencies around us, but most of us are so plugged in that we don’t realize our ailments can be associated with these exposures. Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to be considered. Not everyone has seizures, but we humans are electrical systems being impacted in ways often unrealized, unmeasured and untreated.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields, RF Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding as an eyewitness with a medical record of physical harm by these non-natural environmental toxins. Suffering significant secondary loss, I have become an activist and advocate for myself and others similarly situated. If unaddressed by the HHS and FCC, regulatory agencies tasked with protecting the people, we are a class action waiting to happen – supported by the overwhelming eyewitness evidence, non-industry-funded science, national and international medical and legal professionals. Criminal harm is occurring from this unauthorized experimental use not been proven safe in the updated, non-industry-conflicted science. See attachments. This wireless microwave radiation has severely adversely affected myself, my late mother, grandchildren, their pets and others in several disability groups I have been a part of since 1994 at my Social Security Disability documented onset. THE SUFFERING For thirty years I have suffered from this electronic version of an environmental plague. The original source of my exposure was with the installation of a cellular microwave tower at the NC church we pastored, near our parsonage. Exposure continued when in proximity to devices such as DECT wireless phones, routers, high tension power towers, and a cell phone after I moved. I suffered much secondary loss from an environmentally-caused illness foisted upon me by others who knew the risks. In 2015, upon relocation to San Diego across the street from multiple high tension power towers, and a wifi router on the other side of the wall from the room I rented, my symptoms drastically increased from an already disabling level to almost unbearable torture. At the next condominium unit I had to relocate to 6 months later because of this, there were multiple aesthetically hidden towers across the road. Symptoms worsened unbearably, and I moved a year later to an apartment complex in a lower EMF area, not knowing there were wifi routers in neighboring apartments, and an airport related tower that would penetrate the bedroom window each morning waking me up 30 minutes before the planes would take off. Purchasing an EMF meter confirmed objectively my symptoms and their direct correlation to EMF microwave radiation sources in the electronic landscape. HEALTH EFFECTS DOCUMENTED My health effects tracked, in real time, the exposures. From the beginning, as a young active happy pastor’s wife and mother of middle and high school teens, a non-exhaustive list of symptoms documented in my medical record included a 40+ drop in my IQ in the area of new information processing deficits including auditory delay measured by independent Social Security Disability experts as compared to the previous 140 MENSA in my high school transcript – “brain fog” is putting it mildly. Tinnitus, increased heart rate to 150, neurally mediated hypotension, spatial disorientation, blurring of vision in my one good eye, chronic optical migraines, later onset of cataract in the back of my legally blind right eye all developed. Sudden onset of “fatigue” felt like walking through concrete cement with every step. Coma-type of narcolepsy sleep for up to 20 hours a day, muscle cramping, sudden elevation of my formerly normal cholesterol to 270 happened at acute onset. Sensitivities to previously tolerated chemicals, including most medications, along with a new sensitivity to cold, caused a code during surgery and recommendation to avoid elective surgery. Cramping of my leg muscles and abnormal gait necessitated use of a cane many days, immune system dysregulation with a profile including low natural killer cells, abnormal T-lymphocytes, and a CD4 reverse pattern from AIDS. This is only a partial list of symptoms that occurred many years “mysteriously” after wireless installation near my residence ended life as normal, culminating in a 2020 adenocarcinoma Stage IIIB cancer diagnosis and being told by my radiation oncologist consult that EMF radiation caused the cancer, and I was not a good candidate for radiation or I could hemorrhage at those doses. After the surgery, I was in extreme pain when exposed to levels over .100 megahertz for more than a brief time. My MD attended the 2019 EMF Medical Conference in Costa Mesa, CA, and diagnosed me with what is now known as Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome (Diagnosis Code: W90.0) that tracked my symptom onset/exposures and is also associated with cancer, heart, neurological and reproductive disorders. I sit with an Ethernetkabel to my phone with WiFi, Bluetooth and mobildata off. On my modem I can turn off the WiFi on the router. Many people put shielding fabric over the router if its not working to turn the WiFi off. It takes away alot of the Radiation. I get these symphtoms: Headick, migraine, vibrations inside the body, that does not show on the outside, heartpalpations, nausea, ace in muscles, pain in the forehead, ringing ears, feeling like I am in a bubble, dizziness. I am so worried for all the children, they are very vounerable for DNA damage. Most small child has a mobilephone. And in the schools they have IPads and WiFi routers at the roof. When you scroll on a phone it admits very high Radiation and people get sick long under the safety limits. On top of that you have the mobilemasts, neighbours wireless networks. Hospitals have high Radiation and almost impoosible to visit for the people who are suffering from EHS. I have for a decade tried to get the information out through my facebookgroup: WIFI 4G 5G SKADLIG STRÅLNING with over 32.000 members. I have helped people who got sick to messure the Radiation in their homes and the absolute most important room in your home is the bedroom. European Guidelines recommend under 10 uW/m2 in the bedroom. So that your body can rest and build up the immunesysteme under the sleep. I have worked with my group for over a decade and I am tired. Facebook in Europé has still censur. I am retired and 70 years old. The only thing that makes me go on is the thought of my 5 grandchildren, all children in the World, there Health and future. I live in Denmark. I developed electro-hypersensitivity (EHS) in 2020, when new frequencies were introduced in the country. The municipality where I lived served as a test site for 5G. I experienced headaches, tremors throughout my body, and a sensation of heat on my skin. My eyes would hurt whenever I looked toward a mast, and I felt these adverse effects whenever I drew near one. At the same time, I observed that nature was also reacting to these new frequencies; leaves near the masts and wireless equipment took on autumn colors—turning red, yellow, and brown—in the middle of summer. Simultaneously, the insects disappeared from my garden; the air became completely empty. My symptoms reached a critical point one night when I developed heart problems. I received no help, as I was not believed when I spoke about Wi-Fi and masts. I was forced to move away from that municipality and had to purchase clothing and hats to protect myself. I am now disabled, yet I cannot access any assistance regarding employment or other support, as this disability is not officially recognized in this country. Doctors acknowledge my condition but dare not speak out, fearing repercussions. Since then, I have met many others who share my experience— people living highly isolated lives, unable to obtain any help. A young, exceptionally talented musician who developed this disability died by suicide a few years ago; he could find no support, and his family never acknowledged his condition. He ended his life while staying at a nursing home for the elderly. It is deeply tragic.

My sister is so affected by electromagnetic frequencies that she is unable to leave her house because especially her heart rate may go as high as 175 or may drop to dangerous levels. Her entire body suffers from exposure to EMFs. If you look at the businesses that are selling items to help people with this problem of sensitive to EMFs, you will realize it is a real problem that many people have. I am responding from the perspective of a concerned member of the public. Wireless radiation has affected me because I have been forced to allow smart meters be installed at my home. The electric meter was placed on the outside of my kitchen. I was told to allow them to install it or police would be called. My local health group sent many documents to the Kansas Corporation Commission and they have not helped to protect our health or property. One friend is sensitive to wireless radiation and avoids groups do to phone and other radiation. In 1970 my Father felt ill while working for KG&E the Electric Company at their substation. He died from a cardiac arrest before his buddy could get him to the hospital leaving my Mother to raise four young children on her on. I support people affected by wireless radiation because their health is important to me and I believe HHS should address this issue because the Kansas Corporation Commission has not protected Kansans. I have a friend who is very sensitive to electromagnetic radiation and it makes her sick. She cannot live as a normal person.
