An aerospace engineer describes earlier RF research and personal precautions, proposes using cognitive-as…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am. Ph.D. In aerospace engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2010, I was a Sam Nunn Fellow, selected to be part of a program, addressing the intersection between science technology and policy. As part of this course, we were encouraged to do a research project on the intersection of science, technology with policy. For this project, I covered the history at the time related to the development of mobile telecommunications and the various effects of EMF radiation used in telecommunications on biological samples. I would be glad to share my findings at a later time. In short, after doing that research project, I never spoke with a cell phone by my ear for more than a 30 second call, rather always using wired headphones for any lengthy call and always keeping the phone away from my body. That practice remains until this day. Since 2010, the bandwidth of EMF radiation has only increased as the bandwidth of data transported through the devices has increased, going from 3G at the time to 5G and LTE today. Similar protocols dictate how I arrange wireless routers in my home. Since then, I have worked in the intersection between neuroscience and engineering, starting a company that works with the federal government, particularly the Army, until this day. As a company, we have focused on cognitive performance in a variety of high stakes, decision-making, environments, for instance, and supporting war fighter readiness. Our techniques have not been used to evaluate the effects of EMF on cognitive function, but there is reason to believe that they would be effective in doing so. Furthermore, a large sample of our clients are law-enforcement professionals and police. Routinely, we observe cell phone towers with 5G transmitters affixed to towers stationed on police and other civil administration properties. If the effects of EMF radiation from studies available in 2010 are any indication, projected forward today to the greater bandwidth of 5G and LTE technologies in 2026, it is very likely that a large source of radiative impact lands on the civil personnel that work underneath towers placed on these public properties. Again, the expertise of our company could be leverage to evaluate this potential claim. Mobile telecommunication act of 1996 has delivered incredible benefits in the delivery of information around the country and other parts of the world. The gradual expansion of commercially available bandwidth licensed from the federal government to private industry allows these information exchanges. However, it is unclear what role state and federal law-enforcement has to investigate claims of injury brought by the use of such bandwidth. Once the cause of liability has been properly assigned, if it exists at all, there is possibly a next step to pursue legal action in either state and/or federal venue. Both state and federal personnel are routinely exposed to mobile telecommunication sources, such as towers holding 5G transmitters. If these radiation sources are causing damage and a cognitive level, then they should be evaluated. For instance, the military currently uses the defense automated neural physiological assessment (DANA) to evaluate brain injury. Our company is currently working with the Walter Reed Hospital to develop a more sophisticated application to compliment this procedure, specifically aimed at mild traumatic brain injury. It is possible that a similar protocol could be used to evaluate cognitive performance effects and their extent for people living or working near mobile telecommunication sources. Using such tools, it may be possible even to re-develop cognitive performance that has been lost by exposure to radiation injury, in the same way that it is hypothesis currently that concussive brain injury can be either minimized or reversed with proper cognitive treatment. We are glad to help as possible. See deCervo.com for more about the company doing this work.

I urge the Department of Health and Human Services to incorporate all the research that has been done on Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMF) in the last 30 plus years into a cohesive public policy that protects all Americans, especially with regards to wireless radiation associated with 5G towers and related transmitting devices as well as cell phones, baby monitors and other devices used by Americans. We deserve to have a cohesive policy that creates standards based on science and to have public and private institutions held to those standards, standards that are enforced to keep Americans safe. If additional research is needed that should be undertaken by HHS as well.

Reports headaches, eye discomfort and ear tones associated with LED lighting and a smart meter, requests …

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a parent, and family member. I have personally been affected by wireless radiation such as the LED light bulbs that all have RF as states in the fine print on the package. LED light bulbs pulsate constantly and it regularly gives me headaches and my eye regularly ache. Also, I remember in all of the years prior to LED light bulbs being created I rarely had headaches or eye aches. I have had a similar experience with the smart meter that was put on our home. Prior to smart metera, I rarely had headaches, byt after it was installed without our consent, I experience more frequent headaches and I also notice that I get very high pitched tones in my ears regularly. I have tried different things to hope that it goes away such as trying to shut down the wifi at night during sleep, but the high pitched tones are not as strong but they continue. I would love to be able to buy incandescent full spectrum light bulbs again, and I would love to have our smart meter removed. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence. I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health. Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
The towers need to be regulated. We need solid research and evidence that they are safe. I know for a fact that the heath issue I experience is directly linked to being over exposed. I know too many examples of people getting sick because the towers are making them. We need answers! We need these towers to be regulated! We need accountability! We need safe communities.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a parent and a caregiver. When we moved into our home in 2022, I started experiencing fatigue and brain fog like nothing I've ever experienced before, even as a mother with 5 children in 10 years, even through graduate school, even through running a business; this was different. I couldn't get dinner on the table. I couldn't organize basic tasks that needed to get done throughout the day. My oldest child started getting bloody noses, with no prior history. We both started getting headaches with no discernible cause (and her, no prior history). My memory was shot. Multiple times per day, I would send a child on a task, and then less than a minute later, forget I had done so. I struggled to get through our homeschooled lessons (and remember the above; I am highly educated, and this shouldn't have been an issue). I also started hearing a constant ringing in my ears, even though I have never had a problem with tinnitus. It was only then that we discovered the smart meter on our home. We removed it and replaced it with an electro-mechanical analog meter. Within a week, everyone was sleeping better (and with five children, this was a marked difference that I didn't expect), my husband - who had no reported problems to me - told me he was dreaming again. The headaches and bloody noses stopped. I felt like myself again with energy and focus. I was "conquering the world" again, so to speak. The utility company went through a multi-month process of lies, fear tactics, intimidation, threats and coercion before unlawfully removing our meter and replacing it with their opt-out meter. My tinnitus is back, and my thyroid is now shot with no other cause that can be identified. I have had it tested by an electrical engineer, and can confirm it still emits RF. We have no WiFi, and no neighbors. When we had the meter tested, we had no internet, let alone no wifi. We turned off the entire house, and the meter was emitting RF. No company or utility of any kind should be legally allowed to "mandate" harmful technology on our homes, our schools, our shops, our churches, or anywhere else.

Reports longstanding disabling reactions to cordless phones, mobile devices and bridge tolling equipment,…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of someone who is personally affected, a mother of two daughters who are affected, and a concerned member of society. For some reason that is not entirely clear to me, I am acutely aware of the disabling effect of electromagnetic fields on the human body and have been since the early 80’s when these devices first came into our lives. Mainly, I have managed over the years by removing myself from the source of the electromagnetic field. I live out in the country, drive an old car, avoid LED lighting when possible, avoid driving under electronic tolling, avoid biometric face scanning technologies - my old computer is wired via ethernet and I have found technologies for my phone and other devices which seem to help make the effect of the electronic field more bio-compatible - but still, removing oneself from the source of the radiation remains to be the most effective solution. However as these technologies become more and more prevalent, it is becoming more and more difficult to avoid. My first experience with wireless radiation was in 1986, when I returned to Canada from a teaching job in South India. I went to my sister's house and the phone rang. I picked it up and noticed that it did not have a cord. Not having any prior knowledge of this new invention, I wasn’t expecting anything other than what you normally expect to happen when you picked up the phone prior to the advent of cordless phones. I picked it up, noticed that it didn't have a cord and then right away, noticed an extremely intense and disturbing feeling. I would try to describe the feeling by saying, “imagine you were a person who didn't drink coffee and you just had 10 cups of strong coffee”. I felt everything spinning along with an intense, extremely uncomfortable feeling. The feeling began to subside after I put the phone down. The feeling was something I really had never felt before and had no words to describe, but "radiation burn” might come close. I said to myself, Whatever that is, I am never picking up one of those again. Little did I know that there was more to come. A bit more time went by. 3G flip-phones were becoming more popular. I never bought one, and continued to use my old cord phone. I remember that if one of my family members was on the flip phone, and the person on the line wanted to speak to me - I would always vehemently decline. The same feeling that I noticed coming from the cord phone was coming from the flip phone. Fast forward to 2011, I had moved to Seattle, living on the west side and working on the east side. I drove across the 520 bridge several times a week. I knew they were installing tolling hardware on the bridge but it was still not scheduled to start for several months. So, one day .. I was driving across the bridge as usual, not expecting anything unusual, and as I drove under the overhead bar that was being installed I had the most bizarre experience. I felt hundreds of pencil thin rays of burning radiation piercing my body. And, as I was driving along over the bridge I noticed that something like a shadow body fell out of my body as if it was mortally wounded. This is not at all something that I expected, or created from apprehension as I had absolutely no anticipation of anything being any different from any other day that I had driven over the bridge. It took several days for me to actually feel normal again after that. I was so incredulous that this was happening to me that I actually drove over the bridge one more time - thinking that this could not possibly be happening to me. And once again, experienced the same thing. Since then, I have not driven over that bridge. I don't know anything about what kind of technology they are actually using, but it felt like some kind of laser. I am concerned that in the future, I will not be able to use a computer, travel, drive a car, use a cell phone to do basic functions etc, Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding from the perspective of a parent. My daughter was an average, healthy 10 year old child. Two years ago we had a smart meter installed at our home. We tried to stop the installation, however, Wisconsin doesn't allow an opt out. Our daughter began to experience strange symptoms, hand pain, a combination of burning and tingling, hair loss, severe weight loss, rapid heart rate and irritability. We took her into our primary care doctor who ran some labs and came back saying she has Graves' disease. We have still been unable to restore her health and get the smart meter removed. My heart's desire is to have this legislation changed where at a minimum, people should be allowed to opt out of smart meters and 5g being placed on and or near their homes. Our children are growing sicker every year. Each child deserves a chance to be give a healthy environment to grow into healthy adults. My daughter's Graves disease is hard and incredibly sad, but others out there have children fighting for their lives in cancer battles due to all this radiation.

Reports genetic, cardiovascular and neurological conditions and concerns about cumulative exposure, propo…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
RE: Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure Docket: HHS-OASH-2026-0397 Perspective (Q2): Individual with compound heterozygous MTHFR (C677T + A1298C), elevated homocysteine, atherosclerosis with plaque, osteoarthritis, chronic tinnitus, cardiac issues, hypertension of undetermined cause, and hypersensitivity to medications, chemicals, and environmental factors. I submit this comment to share personal experiences and support research on vulnerable populations. Q3: I experience chronic tinnitus, cardiac issues, hypertension of undetermined cause, elevated homocysteine, atherosclerosis with plaque, and osteoarthritis. I am highly hypersensitive to medications, chemicals, and other exposures. I also have fatigue, sleep disruption, and cognitive difficulties (brain fog, concentration/memory problems). These have not been fully explained by standard evaluations. I am concerned that cumulative or modulated RF/EMF exposures may contribute or exacerbate symptoms given my genetic background and elevated homocysteine. Q11: I am compound heterozygous for MTHFR C677T and A1298C with elevated homocysteine and atherosclerosis. This genotype substantially reduces enzyme activity (~30–50% of normal), impairing methylation, raising homocysteine risk, lowering glutathione, and increasing oxidative stress vulnerability. Elevated homocysteine is a cardiovascular risk factor and can affect NMDA receptors and calcium signaling. Proposed non-thermal RF/EMF mechanisms (voltage-gated calcium channel activation, excess intracellular calcium, nitric oxide/peroxynitrite, and reactive oxygen species) may interact with these vulnerabilities. People with this genotype, elevated homocysteine, chemical hypersensitivity, or cardiovascular disease may be a sensitive subgroup not fully protected by thermal-only limits. Q11 (Children): A 2026 study (Wydaeghe et al., Phys Med Biol 71:175006) found child models had 1.5–1.9× higher whole-body SAR than adults below 6 GHz. Beamforming created local SAR hotspots exceeding limits even when external exposure met reference levels. Q12: Salford et al. (1994) reported increased blood-brain barrier permeability in rats after 915 MHz exposure. Larger studies (NTP, Ramazzini) also found effects at higher levels. Further research is needed on non-thermal effects in susceptible individuals. Q13/Q16: Wireless Body Area Networks operate close to the body in RF bands including 2.4 GHz (Zhong et al., Sensors 2022, 22:3539). Real-world multi-source exposures and 5G beamforming differ from single-source assumptions. Priorities should include genotype-stratified studies (MTHFR compound heterozygotes), people with elevated homocysteine or cardiovascular disease, chemical/electromagnetic hypersensitivity, cumulative exposure methods, and transparent disclosure of device/infrastructure metrics. I urge HHS, FDA, NIH, and CDC to take reports of unexplained tinnitus, cardiac issues, hypertension, elevated homocysteine, atherosclerosis, osteoarthritis, and hypersensitivity seriously; fund independent research on genetic/metabolic modifiers of RF/EMF response; and evaluate whether current standards protect vulnerable groups. Thank you. Argues that ubiquitous exposure makes long-term safety research difficult, opposes untested deployment ne…

ORIGINAL COMMENT · UNEDITED TEXT
There are no long-term safety data on the use of 5g, 6g and even the technology built into commercial wifi routers and cell phones. It is also now almost impossible to do a compelling study on the safety of these technologies since they are ubiquitous, and the vast majority are exposed to them in some form at all times starting at conception (so a true placebo group in a study would be very difficult to do). Since it's basically impossible to get clear, compelling data on this now, I think it's common sense that we should not be installing/upgrading these new frequencies near schools, hospitals or in areas that would be disastrous if these new frequencies turned out to be causing harm. It is likely that there are unknown biological impacts of long-term exposure to these frequencies, and as such we as Americans have the legal right to informed consent, which by definition includes the right to decline. The risk of implementation or "upgrading" of these technologies without long-term compelling safety data should require a ballot measure or some other method that allows citizens' voices to be heard and give them their legally required option to decline. We should also be consulting with data from other countries who have done more research in this space (like Russia), and seeing what they've learned about the safety of these technologies.
