I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure. I am responding as the mother of a child on the autism spectrum. As a parent, I want to understand the environmental factors that may affect my child’s health, development, and daily well-being so I can make informed decisions.
Wireless technology is part of everyday life in our homes, schools, and public spaces. Parents need clear, trustworthy information about exposure and whether children, including those with developmental differences, may have particular vulnerabilities that warrant further study.
I am not claiming that wireless radiation caused my child’s autism. I am asking HHS to take parents’ questions seriously and support rigorous research that helps us understand whether these exposures affect children’s sleep, attention, sensory regulation, or other aspects of their health. Families should not be left to sort through conflicting claims without meaningful guidance. I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Federal agencies with expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health should carefully evaluate the scientific evidence and listen respectfully to individuals and families who report being affected.
I urge HHS to identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and prioritize research that includes children on the autism spectrum. Please translate the findings into clear, practical guidance that parents and schools can use, including what is known, what remains uncertain, and whether measures to reduce exposure are warranted. As a mother, I want answers grounded in sound science and a genuine commitment to protecting children’s health. Thank you for giving families an opportunity to be heard
