There are two issues if landlines are discontinued: 1) possible adverse health effects of those who have to rely only on cell phones. 2) vulnerable populations who need access to medical help if cell service goes out 25% of the population uses landlines! There is a 90 day rule, which has not been followed! Please listen to Americans! Cynthia Crawford
I am extremely sensitive to Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and wireless radiation. I can't do Facetime on an my I-Phone, because it feels like my face is burning. I can't talk to someone on the I-Phone for very long, because I can feel the radiation. It is very uncomfortable, even when the phone is 3 feet away. I don't even have one of the newer, bigger I-Phones, because I fear it might be stronger. My husband and I pull out the router before bed every night so that we are not bathing in WiFi. We were not able to get solar for our house, because of the EMFs/energy they emit. A couple of years ago, our town of Great Barrington, MA was threatened by the telecom companies. They wanted to put 5G small cell towers into our town (every 500 ft or something like that), even in front of schools where children are the most vulnerable. Please help us (all of us) prevent anything like that ever happening. And please do your due diligence to make sure these electromagnetic frequencies are actually safe for people and animals, bees, etc. Thank you for listening! Lori Deutsch
Current regulations are archaic and are based on little fact or knowledge, designed by telecom companies for their profit! In 1996 cell phones were called "car phones " and were novelties! Current health related issues have been squelched by the telecom industry's greed. It is time for new laws which protect the public!
The FCC must update the requirements to protect public health from the effects of wireless radiation. This technology has exploded to being omnipresent in a short time period with disregard for a growing body of evidence of harm to humans and other species. For example, one study, Effects of Short and Long Term Electromagnetic Fields Exposure on the Human Hippocampus. Deniz, O.G., et al. Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure 5(4):191-197. (2017). Could help explain the profound health impacts a good friend experiences in direct response to wireless radiation. The current scientific literature must be taken seriously to protect life from harmful exposure. Clearly guidelines that are 30 years old based on even older studies are irrelevant in today's world.
Is the FCC actually protecting public health? In a 2021 the U.S. court of appeals ruled that the FCC's decision was arbitrary and capricious, finding it failed to show proper review in regards to numerous issues related to public health and the environment. The court issued a mandate that the FCC show proper examination of evidence on its record related to non-cancer health effects (such as impacts to reproduction, brain development and the immune system), long-term exposure, children’s vulnerability, and environmental impacts. If it is indeed true that this is a complex issue and that the FCC needs more time, then why hasn't the FCC stopped the roll out of wireless technology given that it is clear that it is harmful to our biology and mental health? I am citing a study, one of thousands, to remind the FCC that you are an organization that was created to protect human health, and to regulate, not stand by while humans remain vulnerable and negatively affected by the proliferation of wireless technology that invades my personal, professional and social existence.
