The technology is going to keep getting better, so I think there needs to be independent studies. If the studies focus on distance (considering the inverse square) to devices, and how RF is similar to light, it might reduce some of the opinions and put the public at ease with the technology. Most devices are quite far away from people, so the theories are likely way off base. Conversely, many devices that are installed are close to occupants and are high power (with no check or sometimes even regulations), so they are most likely causing health danger - (smart meters next to beds, 5G cylinder street towers next to apartment windows, etc...); so a study done on proximity effects would be helpful.
